An Escapist Farewell Pages PREV 1 2 3 4 NEXT
I salute you, you wonderful man.Though you shall be far away our thoughts will follow to the end of the earth.
One by one, the heroes fall T^T
I'll be sad to see you go Mr Butts. Thank you for all the hard work you've put in.
Now theres a quote to go down in the "Big Book of Internet Quotes (that are actually meaningful)":
Good luck fella, you've done a great job around here.
Bam.... Farewell Steve. You shall be missed.
You did a great Job sir, good luck in your future endeavours.
Here's looking at you, kid.
:/ I had fun semi-memorizing you guys when I saw posts from each of you relating to articles/reviews/pod-casts and so forth. I don't even know you that well and this feels kind of crappy. Hell I remember reading Russ leaving and was depressed afterwards, too. Not a clue why. I'll miss you, even though I can't explain why, so take that for what you will. Maybe I'll actually get an avatar or something and act like a decent person around here. Have a good one, above all else.
That was the point. I can't say as I'm too sure whether someone's going to leave so it might as well just be anyone. Also, if I'd said Yahtzee, I'd have gotten SOOOO much hate.
I wish you the best of luck for the future, and thank you for the effort helping make this place what it is.
Sad to see you go Steve you did a really good job here. But kinda worried on who is going to be taking the reigns at the escapist now.
That'd be me. | |
I remember it like it was yesterday when Russ left, I'm sure it will be the same thing for you whenever the next editor-in-chief leaves, no matter how long that will be. Good luck to you! Maybe you won't need it but still!
I'm so happy to see that you're such a big Steve Butts fan! I myself am very fond of his reviews and his Podcat commentary. However, just and fyi so credit is given where it's due... Paul Goodman handles the all the quiz content, and Janelle Bonanno and myself run most of the community outreach, including promotions, giveaways, contest and the like. I'll never have that epic of a mustache though, sadly... So much of what an EIC does is behind the scenes, really. It's a lot of strategy, meetings, networking, analysis and team building to execute an overall vision.
So long Steve, you did good work. Won't be the same without you.
So does that mean the site will now focus more on adorable baby animals? Because I'd be cool with that.
Oh, yes. The overall Cute here will go up at least threefold. There will be baby otters, my friend. Holding hands.
Wow ... Another one? ... The Escapist is surely burning through content creators as well as managers recently. Captcha: happy blessings
Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet prince;
Steve, you were probably my favorite on the podcast, super bummed to see you go. I hope your personal issues turn out alright though and that you continue being awesome in the future, man!
Just in case: I as a person, gamer, and ultimately escapist, must give my supreme utmost appreciation, and thanks to you for this. Through the innovative views, opinions, and insights given through your articles and podcasts, you have given a clarity to me that has helped me find a spectacular appreciation (and a new-found drive for a career) in the future of games and the gaming industry as a whole. Trust me when I say that. Through the Escapist, gaming has become one of, if not the, biggest aspect of my life and I am fully comitted in the support and growth of the industry. It has given me shelter as a lover of games where that love is rarely found, and has shown me new and exciting areas and fields that I would never have known before. I personally thank you for delivering this, not only to me, but to the hundreds of others on this site. Know that I will support your future career in gaming journalism and I wish nothing but the best of luck to you. I'll see you in Sovngarde.
Fantastic news. Do us proud! (and with more partying!)
*While trying to fight back the tears* That was great Nasrin. You know, I think the one thing I'll miss the most about Steve is his laugh in the podcast. Guy has a great laugh. Good stories too. We'll all miss ya Steve. Good Luck!
Congratulations! I can't think of a better candidate. Not that there arn't some great choices in the ranks of the Escapist. Long Live Steve!
Your moustache will live on in my dreams forever, farewell fine sir
Godspeed, Steve. Thank you for your contributions to this awesome site.
Good-bye! Be good, take care of yourselves - and DON'T LEAVE THE PATH!
| |
But... who's going to fill the designated quota of awesome manly facial hair? :( Seriously, though: it's always sad to see an important member of staff leave, but it's been good times. Best of luck with whatever comes next, and thanks for all you've done here.
I'unno, a kitten seemed appropriate for some reason. This is brilliant news. (EDIT: okay wow, I just noticed I'm two days late on this. My excuse is that I've been too deeply entrenched in Skyrim this past week to even notice what day of the week it is. At least I finally got around to finishing it...)
See ya, Chief. It's been fun, ya? Take care of yourself.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
So how do you plan on making up for the lack of a make-fun-of-able last name? I mean, Pitts, Butts... Arendt!? I mean, if you were keeping with tradition, your last name would be a minimum of "Slimes" and a maximum of "Fartdribbles".
If Graham left I think I'd be out >_>.
I was wrong...I think Susan has won my loyalty to the website. Powerful design plans!
Cya Mr. Butts I'll miss the little chuckle your name produced during the credits of every video
I still think Narsins cat was the better choice...no offense of coarse
Apologies, truly.. I feel quite embarrassed and guilty over this. Props to you and Janelle for most community events and planning while Paul does a seriously fine job at making quizzes (they're so fun and good, plus with badges I am sold lol.) Thank you guys, and again I am sorry. Still, going to truly miss Steve and hopefully I can grow a mustache that slick.
While sad to lose a member of the family, I am stoked to see Susan will be moving up!

Woah, that's kinda sudden. Still, good luck to you man!
