DLC on disc...isn't that an oxymoron?

Copper Zen:
DLC on disc...isn't that an oxymoron?

...not if your name is Capcom

Is "Chopping Things in Half with an Axe" a jab at Loading Ready Run's old series "Daily Drop"?

Copper Zen:
DLC on disc...isn't that an oxymoron?

No no, its Disc Locked Content you see?

Is the Furby a reference to Twitter saying Jim Sterling is similar to one?

That makes a whole ton of sense. I'm not even being sarcastic. I guess I'll call it that now :p

I feel your pain, Grey.

Copper Zen:

It's a misnomer, at the very least.

Which was an awesome series by the way.

Also, need more microwave fun.

Capcom really needs to trademark this phrase.

Love the background of the article btw

Punch You:

this was my first thought after reading it, my second was LRR should totally do this.

It's sad but true it seems

You monster...HOW COULD YOU!?!

It's just a baby!

Punch You:
Is "Chopping Things in Half with an Axe" a jab at Loading Ready Run's old series "Daily Drop"?

no its a jab at I Hit It With My Axe, a show "Featuring adult film performers... playing old school D&D" which ran back in 2010.

Edit: That's not a dramatic pause, that's me paraphrasing from the show summary.

Are we just going to mention all the escapist's old shows now?

The ad in the comic is a spoof of the name of the new game "Dishonored", which is published by Bethesda, who makes the new Fallout games, which was spoofed by the old escapist show "Apocalypse Lane".

So... "Apocalypse Lane" reference!

I would definitely watch this. Someone get them the slow-mo camera again, FOR SCIENCE!!

I'm sure we were all shocked by this revelation. But wait! It's only free for certain people, so they can charge everyone else, right? :D

EDIT: Or is the only way to get it through actually signing up for something? I don't know about other people, but I certainly don't need another username/password to try remembering.

"Indishonorable" will clearly be a dog of a game. Therefore "Game Dogs". (SHUDDER!) Still better than "Creature Caster Master" (I think it was). Doesn't matter. All web series pale in comparrison to "Doraleous & Associates" which Hank and Jed are now slowly releasing on YouTube in an attempt to crowd fund another season.

i don't know about an oxymoron, but it's moronic.

i guess, technically speaking a laser is downloading the data from the disc to your harddrive.. soo.. meh?

but it does defy the usual convention of word usage for sure

I loved Apocalypse Lane... and I seriously loved Doraleous & Associates... I think I'll rewatch the whole thing again, just for the (many) lulz.

And the only reason Crapcom did that is because they're getting raked over the coals (justifiably so as well) over their practices of late.

If people weren't ready to give the proverbial "eff-you" to them at this point, Crapcom would have easily made it Disc Locked Content that people had to pay for.

either way, we need to see more of this "Chopping Things in Half with an Ax" video serie :P

I had kind of forgotten about that dnd show but I was thinking more along the lines of daily drop (or the "can it blend" stuff or even that show "time warp") to joke about.

I'm glad everyone likes the idea, it would be pretty awesome...

I think it's just a jab at the DISHONORED ads plastered all over the escapist. The very same game whose 30-sec trailers with the creepy girl singing delay our videos!

On topic: Critics shocked. seems legit

i know i'm shocked

Publish your column anyway just to see what it was.

My favorite part about this strip? The Indishonorable ad. As much as I love this game, I am soo tired of seeing ads for it.

you know what, I'm writing the strip's small print just for the fun of it :P

"You asked for it. Introducing our new series: 'Chopping Things in Half with an Ax'. You loved 'Running Classic Action Figures Over with a Lawnmower' and 'Methodically Taking Apart Old Radio Equipment' so we're going to bring you a whole new series of breaking things with a predeterminated method. Your very own Critical Mis- ..."

Murderers Rampage(?) on the sidebar, nice touch.

Grey Carter:
I had a great strip about Resident Evil 6's on-disc DLC. It was filled with righteous fury

In which you would be complaining that you weren't given extra stuff that nobody promised you and you didn't expect or pay for, saying that you not only deserve all the stuff you knew would be in the game, and you were paying for as the game, but that you also deserve any extra stuff that wasn't part of the game, and was a completely extra part that wasn't part of your $60 transaction.

You don't really know what righteous means do you?

I think we should start a petition to get Chopping Stuff in Half with an Ax as an official video series here on The Escapist. :3

You shudder at "Game Dogs"? Really? You obviously didn't live through the audio and visual nightmare that was Lisa Foilles. That show couldn't of been more annoying if she stopped every five seconds to poke you in the face with a razor.

Screw that, man, I remember Kung Fu Grip and Videogame Theatre. Now THOSE were terrible
