Expensive Tastes

The price some people will pay to have their throats lacerated.

That intro... can I have some of what you guys were on... Or one or more of the crowns?

And I just want some supervillain to make that diamond planet into a doomsday weapon...

Anyways, it seemed like there were more stories this week, all rapid-fire shorts.

What a coincidence, I saw panda porn for the first time last week...

I actually laughed at this episode this time. I love the show and always think its funny but this is the first I have laughed in a while from watching feed dump instead of nodding my head and thinking: hmmm...that is quite humourous.

I tried so hard to focus on the rest of this video, I really did, but after the mention of a planet made of diamonds I got distracted and just started reading up all I could find about it. XD

Guess I have to watch through again. ^_^

that was good. Perhaps not 'tumor meat edition' great, but still very good.

What the fuck is "honey boo boo" and why am I horrified about it without knowing?

Tally and Kathleen! Christmas has come early this year!

By the way, Kathleen, those impact diamonds were actually declassified in the 90s and are porous, which makes them unsuitable for use in jewellery. However, you are still correct in that diamonds are abundant. De Beers and Alrosa pace their diamond extraction in such a way as to maintain high prices. Additionally, Alrosa has a huge diamond reserve.

Tally was throwing those puns left and right today.
Womp-Wor was too good.

Kathleen and Tally could start their own liquor company: De Beers.

Its so red neck you'd think they all drank Goldschlager. Also child pageant queen.

Scary thing about that diamond planet...in another thread we have here, I actually figured out what planet that is.

Look up info about a movie called "Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer" and you'll see what I mean.

CAPTCHA: been there

No you haven't, Captcha. Stop lying.

LRR reused a hat on Feed Dump. I hereby declare this moment as the moment they jumped the shark and sold out.

(Just kidding)

Wait a minute. I thought Honey Boo Boo was just something South Park made up. Youtube... have to unsee.. why can't I unsee?

The planet was found months ago. The internet made lots of Doctor Who jokes.

Goldschlager still has gold in it, but the leaf if far too soft to cause even the most minor abrasion. I like the idea with diamonds though, definitely an idea for nonsensical party liqueurs of the future.

Goldschlager, Jagermeister and Cinnamon Fireball Whisky makes a delicious shooter that puts you on your arse. I imagine it would be nice with coke or something too.

Tally and Kathleen are secretly planning a new business.

"Are you a supervillain in need of new ways to get information from those pesky heroes, or just want to see your nemesis die a slow, gruesome death? Then call Tally and Kathleen at 1-800-TORTURE for lessons on the latest and greatest in causing unspeakable pain. Call now and we'll send you a free 'diamond dust in the cocktail' kit with your order. It's cutting edge!"

I love the amount of time spent trying to fix the outro and that Graham still ended up saying "got given"

Minecraft got it right: Trying to put a cutting edge on gold is like trying to put it on wood.

Thanks for this info! But yeah... anybody who doesn't know this should do some homework. It's kind of an eye opener on Capitalism.

And idk if this practice is wrong... but it sure does FEEL wrong/shady. I mean... how did these companies get to a point where they control enough diamonds to affect its global price? Why hasn't another group of people jumped in to undercut these clowns?

Also, manufactured diamonds are now possible, and can be made on an industrial scale. And not the muddy diamonds that used to get used as phonograph needles -- these are aesthetically pleasing, optical quality diamonds. You can also add doping agents to the process to get the diamond in a variety of colors. Their structural perfection meets or exceeds any naturally-occurring diamond.

Nice try Graham but I have that hat as well.

Oh gosh, I'm really truly sorry to have introduced you to that unfortunate piece of reality. Well "reality" anyway, it being reality television.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Watching Graham try to save the ending cracked me up pretty good.

So let me get this straight
When Graham says that there may be better sources of news but they don't have this hat, it is actually "you can't step twice in the same river" thing?
And things were this way all this time?
O_O
Shine on, you crazy philosoraptor ;)

I found it- my belief in mankind just reached new lowest point :(

The parody rapidly becomes reality:

Hey, the bar is gone!

Also, funny stuff and whatnot.

De Beers and Beyond: The History of the International Diamond Cartel

Large-scale diamond mining appeared only recently, mid-19th century. DeBeers was one of the first players in this market and it managed to create a huge international monopoly. Its stockpiles allowed it to manipulate diamond prices, so that if you tried to set up your own business, DeBeers could temporarily decrease prices for your type of product and force you to either leave the market or fall into line. In the past few decades, several other large government-backed players emerged anyway, but they don't try to compete on price.

Well, Diamonds couldn't be a girl's best friend if they weren't around much.

Also, artificial scarcity. BOOOO!

The Russian diamond mine is so large you can't fly a helicopter over it safely. It generates it's own micro climate.

Do people still not know that the price of Diamonds was just artificial scarcity? I thought that since people were able synthesize diamonds but later found out there are large untapped deposits of diamonds that the controlling family only releases a few of per year. Also if you are like my dumb ass friend, no you can't alter the carbon pyramid structure of a diamond the two compounds are chemically and structurally the same.

In fact if members of this diamond controlling "group" the De Beers or something set foot inside the states they will likely be arrested. No doubt they have bought the local government of where they currently reside so that the same does not happen there.

Then again I never understood the insane value that people attach to what amounts to merely shiny rocks. Sapphires, ruby and emeralds all amount to the same basic compound corundum with maybe an fe ion here or a zinc ion there. Apparently it's due to a reflection instinct meant for finding sources of water but to me the whole argument for a useless trinket being valuable because it's "rare" will never hold water. Cut glass and colored metal is the same thing according to our hind brain.

Boy will I be pissed when I have to buy some dumb shiny rock when I get married.

The monkey shit bit made me bust a gut laughing. That's the hardest I've laughed since your nightflight to Venus episode.

French Kathleen. Hot.
Also:
I'll never be able to look at softball the same way again.

Its good the Honey Boo Boo thing was for the intro only.....because that bit got old FAST.

Honey Boo Boo proves that the movie Idiocracy may be horribly prophetic.

Honey Boo Boo is an example of why eugenics is a GOOD THING when applied properly ie not Hitlers way.

Honey Boo Boo is proof that while many of us Americans may be poor and have boring lives, there is always something to make fun of.

But overall a good episode guys.

LYRI'S FUN FACT OF "UNTIL HE HAS SOMETHING USEFUL TO SHARE AGAIN"

The diamond crater in Russia won't actually have any effect on the jewelery industry at all as the diamonds from the impact aren't the right grade.
They will however keep the cutting and drilling tools well stocked for a very long time to come.

I had to stop and watch the intro again. That was inexplicably hilarious. NEW ZEALAND
