Killing Them Softly

For those of you asking - yes, Bob goofed on the name of the movie at one point in the voice over. He'll whip up a fixed version just as soon as he can. Carry on!

I hadn't noticed the stark resemblance of the new star trek poster to the batman DKR poster.

I've gotta ask, what's with the hyperspeed voice overs in your latest videos? It sounds almost like you're recording it at about 11:45 AM EST the day it's to be posted.

Yup, I notice that near the start (Killing me softly) of the video but it's forgivable.

Anyway that film sound like something I wouldn't watch as my first choice (not into politics) well the only last film of 2012 I may watch now it The Hobbit.

I had been wondering why we got a review for a movie that was released last week ... then I looked up what is coming out this week and now I completely understand.

It's noticeable, but we certain he at least watched to movie to give a good review.

On topic, I think I'll give this one a go. I know how unbelievably stupid criminals usually are (the smart ones tend to go into white collar crime; bigger payouts, lower risk) and it would be nice to see a movie that doesn't portray criminals a little bit more realistically than others.

That slow slipping back into accent moviebob is kind of hilarious, even though thats completely unrelated and didnt really affect the overrall quality of the video.
I always look forward to fridays and tuesdays, mostly because of bob, cya next week

Hey Bob, Bob
didn't something else come out today that a lot more people would be interested in hearing about, or were you afraid of coming off with too much of nerdgasm?

You should use your Boston accent more often Bob. It's Wicked Awesome. ;)

Slipped in and you left it? I thought it was done intentionally.

Bob did slip into his Boston accent pretty often in this video didn't he?

OT: Looks good, gonna check this one out for sure.

Ditto.

I like 'Boston Bob' but found the frequent shifts between the Boston accent and the flat accent distracting.

It really feels like we always get a movie like this during the holidays, one that isn't very well known and that Bob has to review the week before the big holiday season event.

Also, I'm pretty sure this movie has Richard Jenkins, who was very funny in Cabin in the Woods.

this pretty much sums up my thoughts, full on "Boston Bob" can be ignored after about 30 seconds, bouncing back and fourth keeps re-grabbing my attention to the accent.

It was the fact that the accent would slowly get stronger and stronger and then it would cut out like he paused to compose himself and then creep back again that was the big tip-off for me. I agree that the fade-in was more distracting than the accent itself.

For my part, I assumed "Killing Me Softly" was taking a stylistic point from Zero Punctuation and subtly altering the film's name... but then he said he liked it at the end.

It's not coming out until next week?

OT: I didn't realize Brad Pitt was in this movie. Then, I haven't really heard or seen much about it at all. Looks like it could be entertaining but not very memorable, so I doubt I'll end up watching it though.

Yes it does, he plays a sceretary of sorts for the "high-up's."

I saw this when it came out, and I thought it was excellent. The humor is nicely jet-black, performances are uniformly strong (I really liked James Ganoldifini's part as a washed-up hitman), and it's a whip smart treatise on capitalism.

Half the cinema was empty before half the movie was over. If pointless banter is your thing, go for it. For me, this was the worst movie of the year by a landslide. And I normally love slow, brooding movies.

To be fair, I think a lot of people went for that title when first encountering this movie (I know I did).

I'll tell you the reason no body watched that film Bob.

The name...... it's got to be the most uncomfortably long film name in the history of film names.

The Assassination of Jesse James would have sufficed.

Well..... second only to The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade.

Well, that's a lot more than I thought the movie would be about. I'm impressed.

Also, Bob don't show that mascot at the end! You'll scare Yahtzee!

Actually the reason is because he was delayed in getting to the screening of it due to some unforeseen issues and missed the opening of it. He has said he will give it a proper review when he sees the movie in it's entirety.

Great actors in this film, and some great performances. But some scenes were really uncomfortable especially while in the cinema with my dad...

Wow, that accent kept throwing me off...

I hated the film to be frank. I mean I see where Bobs coming from with it's sort of the point that nothing seems to be getting anywhere and it portrays crime as banal... but that just came across as it being a boring film to me.

Maybe I just don't "get" it.

Tell me about it. Me and my dad watched this instead of Dredd because it seemed like something we'd both be more into. How wrong we were...

AND ANOTHER THING... I watched this back in like september, isn't it a bit late to be reviewing it or is this just filler?

Great. Now I have this in my head...

Damn song gets me every time.

The banter wasn't just pointless, it was unnecessarily vulgar. The few other people in the cinema I was in were all OAPs as well. Imagine the shock they got when every other word is a swear word.
I can agree that this was bad, I will never watch this film again.

I actually went to this one and I gotta say, bob is really playing down the political drama in this film. It was so prominent that I was the only one of my friends who didn't wind up angry. I came out of the theater laughing my ass off because of how clever the whole setup was. while my friends were all grumbling about how they had to see more political stuff after the election.

The only "major" releases this week are a romantic comedy that has around a 0% rating on rotten tomatoes and the latest "gritty" cop movie; neither of which are expected to land anywhere near the top of this weekend's box office.

Next week there is basically only one movie on the release schedule and if he didn't review it(not that anyone already interested in it wouldn't be seeing it anyway and no say positive or negative from Bob will have any notable influence); it would be a massive surprise.

Sorry, I misread your post, actually. D: I know what you mean now, and agree.

I am looking forward to Into Darkness about as much as I imagine Bob is not.

Keep the Boston accent flying, man. I dig why you drop it but as an ex-pat Yankee (Maine) it always puts a smile in my heart to hear it.

The accent in and out is going to drive me mad, man, MAD.

haha. it was amusing and a bit strange hearing him drift in and out of accent. XD

English is not my first language, so when I first noted the accent I was all "why is he making those weird noises?".

But now I know how the Boston accent sounds like, one more for the bag of weird american accents!
