90: Goin' 'Round 'n Circles?

"Why does the 360 sell so terribly in Japan? It's not a hardware issue. The machine performs admirably, and Xbox Live works just as well in Japan as it does elsewhere. It's not advertising, either. Microsoft aggressively made its presence known months before release, just like everywhere else. Their ads are all over Japanese cities, encouraging gamers to 'step in.'
"But they can't, and this is why."

Goin' 'Round 'n Circles?

Articles seem a bit short this week.

As for what's the deal with Microsoft, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the power of marketing. From what I've seen of the 360's campaign in Japan.... Well, you can only put so much of confusion and ambivalence at the feet of the language and culture barriers. I think it's possible their marketing department is overthinking the question of how to sell XBoxes to the Japanese.

Have you seen the European PS3 adverts? Talk about confusion and ambivalence!

But they sold like the proverbial in the EU
