Top 5 with Lisa Foiles: Top 5 Moments With HK-47

Ahh yes, he's indeed my favourite too, big props.

Personally, I'll always remember his brief turn of being affected by the pacifist package... really highlighted how awesome he is the rest of the time.

Darth_Payn:
Great list, Lisa! HK-47 is on of the best game characters of the last decade. i remember pairing him up with T4-M7 just to hear them argue, like the anti- C-3PO and R2-D2., and trying to fix his memory without enough Repair Skill points (before our memories recovered).

What?
He was just a VERY well built droid.

It's a little weird how games made by a company known for making really good characters often have their "least human" characters (at least visually) be the most popular in their games. Weird in the best way that is. :)

Too bad some people don't seem to get this concept, and seem to think the best way for people to like a character is for them to look as "life like" as possible.

x( You know who!

it's easier for us to relate to characters who are not human but act close to how humans act than to relate to characters who are supposed to be human but clearly are not. that's the reason why game with an art style that clearly does not try to be realistic have an easier time making us like the characters and why the most popular characters in ME are Garrus, Wrex and Liara.

and interesting about HK47 still being alive after thousands of years: wouldn't have replaced every original part several time by then? and wouldn't that make him just a perfect copy and not the original hk47? and did he refine his assassination skills all this time so that he can now kill by throwing a coin which causes a chain reaction that results in his targets death?

Correction: That should be impossible, seeing as how

This is my favorite HK-47 quote:

I've always been a fan of the "Random Cruelty Generator" line.

You can get both KOTOR 1 and 2 really cheap from steam (if it's not on sale now, it goes on sale for like 75% off all the time). There is a patch for Kotor 2 which was supposed to improve alot of bugs/errors as well.

Haven't played them in awhile...I should to get the taste of KoTOR MMO out of my mouth.

The first 2 games were awesome and HK was one of the highlights. Solid great games.

Now we just need a Top 5 Wrex moments and the cycle will have been completed! HK-47 and Canderous are probably my favorite characters from that game.

Fun fact about the stupidity of Star Wars canon: HK-47 is still functioning during and after the original trilogy. He's thousands of years old O.o

Wasn't he running that lava planet with an army of droids in Star Wars Galaxies?

Yeah both games are available on Steam and GOG I believe, and both can be patched for widescreen / HD. You can also tart up KotOR2 considerably by downloading HD versions of the pre-rendered scenes and by getting hold of The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod, which frankly makes an amazing game even more amazing. It's possibly my all-time favourite. http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-sith-lords-restored-content-mod-tslrcm

DVS BSTrD:
Now I'm gunna have to add KOTOR to my backlog for real :(

get ready for a text swamp, there's literally a mini info dump in each conversation
be in the mood to read or it might feel a bit flaky and dated, which would be a shame.
its a good game tho.

That's nothing. On an episode of the Clone Wars this season, they encountered a Droid that has allegedly helped every Jedi in history build their lightsabers.

As in 25000 years worth. And he's voiced by David Tennant.

As for the list, my favorite moment has to either be HK's argument with Mira about grenades, or when he gets a pacifist upgrade by mistake.

Fiairflair:
Tanis: Can you try to do some repairs? They don't care if you move, it is just me who is stuck.
Bastilla: I say leave him.
Tanis: You're pretty heartless for such a pretty lady, you know?
Bastilla: I take it back. Let's congratulate his wife.
HK-47: Commentary: I say we blast the meatbag and save you the trouble, master.

Tanis: What's with all the droids, lately? My wife get to you too?
HK-47: Negative: I just don't like organic meatbags. Except for the master, of course. Heh heh.

My favorite moment is when HK is "pacified" for a few moments and then wakes up from the nightmare that is peace.

Oh Star Wars, you so silly! >.>

Star Wars lore is more inane than DC lore sometimes.

Yup, that takes the cake for me too. I was so proud when he told me that :D

HK-47's name was also inspired by Drew Karpyshyn's billiard teams from way back when. I forget the whole story but it cites it here http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/HK-47#Behind_the_scenes

HK47?..

...

is that like

a Russian gun

<_>

A droid voiced by David Tennant that helps jedi's create lightsabers? 0o

Fun Fact: I once conceived of an idea for a star wars script in which David Tennant would have played a force sensitive. Naturally, as I'm neither in hollywood or working for Lucasarts/Disney...this script remained as an idea.

How could you forget, "Its just that...you have all those squashy parts, master...and all that water. Why the constant sloshing about doesn't drive you mad, I have no idea."
Shocking.
