E3 is Dead, Long Live the Rest

"E3's collapse has left a hole in the gaming world. No longer is there an annual one-stop shop for every game developer's promotion and networking needs. Even though the model was broken, the institution of E3 was still useful. ... Now, a host of other conventions must serve in its stead."

Greg Tito explores life after the death of E3.

I liked what Jerry Holkins said about the end of E3. He was saying that E3, while fun, puts the industry on standby for months. A lot of money is needed to rent out the big TV to display your work-in-progress game, and there's not really a return in your investment. But now, we can be expecting more games more frequently.

But hosting your gaming event on the same weekend of PAX? Bad idea. PAX isn't just for gamers, it's also for fans of Penny Arcade. E for All is just for gamers.
