Zero Punctuation: Yahtzee Goes to GDC Pages PREV 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 NEXT
This only applies to the idiots that complain about So far i've seen through the first minute and a half or so and i don't know what you're all throwing tantrums about. Really, what's all the fuss about, Yes it was bleeped out, you know why? Reasons why this is a good review(And why you should not shake your e-fists at yahtzee just yet): A.) This beats the COD4 review, hands down i might add, that all you little douchbags wanted for weeks on end because you couldn't get your "Shitty-fix" Really all that aside, It's very good, and this is not just a kissass comment, It is good, it's higher then most of the mediocre stuff out there, Better then gamespot, And they've got a full hour to bring out the funnies. Really, I'm glad you're doing what you want/are asked to (As long as it's not by morons) again. Stop being selfish dicks and enjoy the ride.
I personally disagree with Yahtzee's assumptions on Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Oh sure, Guitar Hero III : Legends of Rock is a kick in the soft dangly bits for all concerned, but before that, the games (1, 2 and 80's) supposedley drummed up more business for Guitar teaches and sales of real Gibsons, Yamaha's and all other makers of the instant coolness machine than they'd been seeing in years, as well as increasing the number of Headbangers (My cousin and one of my friends among them). And as for Rock Band, half of the game (Vocals and Drums) require actual talent in order to not suck completely at them, and the guitar and base are getting closer to the real deal with the addition of 5 new buttons.
Fun review as as always and, apparently, the ZP imp has just replaced Yahtzee.
And to all you Americans. Here is a little reminder - you are going to have to wait months before Yahtzee can review Brawl, Rock Band, GTA IV or Metal gear Solid 4 in anything other than passing theory. Thats right, suffer with me.
Didn't think it was that great, but maybe thats because of what you were told to do - I prefer the whole "stick it to one game and flame it's ashes to ashes" format.
I find this post wildly ironic and funny. Anyways, I will say it's like the censoring detracted from the humor. I could tell that Yahtzee tried to tone down the vulgarity, but still included some. He talks so fast that I had a very hard time listening past the beeps. It's has a nice smooth flow but then when the beep came in it felt like an airplane just crashed into the train of words. I just think he should have just kept the ball rolling and gone for no beeps whatsoever, but that's just my opinion! I'm not the one riding on the boat of money.
Well, after tucking my prolasped spleen back into the gaping wounds in my sides, I think I should comment on this. I loved it, quite simply, my only quibble was with the editing. The short delays were the only time I had a chance to recover, and quite frankly, I would have preferred it to have just been bam-bam-bam in a continuous stream without the 'beep's or quick fade-outs. Of course, I would probably have dies from laughing so hard without respite, but hey, it's how I'd like to go, provided there aren't any greased, nubile 16-year-old gymnasts to hand.
Who would want that? 14 year olds are so much sexier. Hey, you started it.
Im worried, because i do beleive i may have actually peed myself slightly laughing at that bit.
a very entertaining ZP. keep up the good work sir. in response to all of the negative voices out there, it had to be bleeped because of the audience. you could tell what it was, if a beep ruins the greater comedic value of a joke for you, something is wrong. again, keep up the good work.
This may sound condescending, but if you had bother to read the post in the ZP section before the video then you would know that this was being played somewhere else other than the escapist. Thats why theres all the censoring,
Good to see you have such fate in us and aren't afraid to show it.
Hahah they censored 'bottocks' at the end :P but it's not a bad word, like f*** or 'ass', it's a proper name for a bodypart... Anyway the bleeping was annoying so I am glad Yahtzee did not swear much, otherwise it would have turned into a Jerry Springer episode :P Not that I need to hear bad words to be amused, but that bleep was quity schreechy and it ruined 'the moment' :P It's a really cool video. An unusual ZP, but very entertaining. I'm going to watch it one more time *_* (I stil did not understand well what he says about the Japanese Games dicks at 1:58-1:59)
Yes.. you on the other hand are the peak of human intelligence.
I loved this episode, I had to register to tell you yathzee tat it was great! I posted this on my blogg as well so many could see it :D
Completely agreed (with Pie that is). Do you (ix and people similar to him) get off by critisising other peoples work. Come on, credit where credit is due. Yahtzee is awesome. He has a great sense of humour and is going far in life.
I do agree that they'd make little sense in purely visual form, but I actually do routinely listen to the audio track only while I do other things. Certainly not on the first viewing, and the visuals definitely add to the experience, but they're solidly entertaining and funny as pure audio.
If someone is insulting then I will be insulting in return entropy3ko. It has nothing to do with you so don't run your mouth. "Do you (ix and people similar to him) get off by critisising other peoples work." No, his comment is borderline racism frankly, it's just the last thing people can be extremely insulting about without consequence. If that level of playgruond insult is 'his work' then he's really going down hill.
About 2007 being antisocial nerd? How is that racist. "Hey! You can't say that about 2007! 2007 was an awesome year! Leave it alone!" And if you're talking about the red hair, that's just a sterotype. The Simpons do it all the time. Go fight them about. Geeze. Why am i argueing with you? Well, I'm off to watch ZP now and ACTUALLY enjoy it for the comdey geneis that it is. I wonder if Yahtzee reads through this flame war tappign his fingers together, working on his evil laugh at the chaos that is 100% garunted to proceed after anything he posts? I know I would.
Nice 1 yahtzee, worth the wait
Here's a concept that will mess with your mind. Maybe, just maybe the deliberate shoddy censoring was part of the joke. Maybe Yahtzee knowing it had to be censored had a little fun with it. Maybe the vid was made censored since I doubt Yahtzee would want people dicking around with his vids with silly censoring. Maybe some of you are showing your complete immaturity at the lack of a couple of curse words.
Please oh please , don't censor yahtzee , its just.. wrong and the bleeping makes me think iam watching jerry springer again.
Very disappointing. Was not that funny IMHO and the sensoring made it worse. Looking forward to next week though. PS3 over the 360? Sorry but....WRONG. Sure it is getting better but it is definately not better than the 360...sorry.
I liked the review. The beeps made me jump the first time (I played the video very load. Ask me why) but it didn't take anything away from the humor. You people probably didn't like it cause you were not expecting it. The brief moment of shitting my self and crying passed with one beep. We all knew what he was saying so I could enjoy the rest. Although, it would be preferable without bleeps.
I call fanboy! | |
Where'd the videos go? | |
I liked the Monty Python tribute at the end. All in all it wasn't that bad. it coulda done without the bleeping. not because hearing swearwords is cool or anything like that mainly because it left nothing to the imagination. if a word is bleeped out properly in some cases you don't know what that word is so you generally fill in the blanks in your head. however in this case the bleeping was just phoned in and if it was put there to stop people being offended by certain words... well here's hoping that they were deaf or hard of hearing because it was very easy to hear the word. But yeah. it was funny and i agree with the point about duke nukem. and there will be a lot of people who aren't reviewers (such as myself) wanting to get at em too.
I thought where Yahtzee had the PS3 standing on the 360, and the Wii in front was great. It's the PS3's rise to fame - woop. Although, I do own a 360 and play it more than a PS3. Sure, the censoring was not that great and ruined some of the humour for me, but I'm not too bothered. Maybe for everyone who didn't like the censored parts, next time you could just not release the video because it is censored. However, I'll watch your work whether it is censored or not. A great review that one could never find anywhere but The Escapist (or GDC in this instance). I did think it was a lot faster than his usual work too, but I guess he might of sped it up for an effect (that I missed). (Also, a lot of posts have works mis-spelled ... but while typing there is a built in spell-checker, or there is for me. Strange.)
How is he a fanboy? | |
This one's sub-par. There is too much recycling going on, The repetition of The Entertainer started to get on my nerves and made the whole thing seem a little disjointed. I don't think I need to add anything to what everyone has already said about the censorship.
i laughed again, i cried again, i hurled again another great vid, brightened up my day but then again i expect no less from ZP, absolutely sublime from start to finish and I will ......
Because no matter who you are, as soon as your compared to a magical hand that shoots bees, your going to f**king lose. nice, i love that part. =)
Boy my predictions was off a bit, but I was right about rock band. Good to see he supports Sonic a bit.
the reosen yahtzee had the ps3 standing on the 360 is because he has gone throught the traumatic experience of having your 360 do a red ring of death. (drunk on stage...... get it?) also, lets be honest, yahtzee doenst give a shit about the console war, hes wayyyyyyyyyyy more intrested in the newest games for the "pc master race"
I, who have found fault in Yahtzee quite a bit of late, challenge anyone to claim (truthfully) that they didn't think that was awesome. A wonderful return to top form. I can only hope this new found vigour continues. Yahtzee, this one has done you quite proud. P.S. Surely jerk doens't need to be censored for anyone - it is a type of flavouring for food popular in the carribean, right? (The censorship is a bit lame as many have said already). Now if you will excuse me i might finish off my jerk-ed chicken while i watch this again.

Wow the red hair comment was really clever... stupid prick.
