I feel all dirty all over, as I was one of the people who read the gawky teenager, buxom girls and mass awkwardness series - Love Hina - that Yahtzee was referring to. That being said, it was the last Manga series i have read in the 2 years since then, and hopefully, until I die at the age of 32, thereby setting off the explosive device I had wired to my heartbeat, killing everyone inside the abandonded factory thats become a drug warehouse. I'd like to leave that whole genre behind me, in a place where it can fester and rot. I dunno man, Launching a foe into the air and keeping him there with bullets? Been done before, man. Tenchu - Wrath Of Heaven.
i think you needed more swearing. :P keep it up
I actually liked Love Hina. Now as for the game, I like it, but the timed puzzles and jump sections make me throw my controller away. I also really relate to the 'fight cutscenes'. I asked out loud 'Why can't I play this?'. A few other things bugging me is the Nero-Dante fight in the middle...I spend a lot of effort to get him down, and the cutscene shows how I am more or less defeated after all. Then why did I go through that effort? The puzzle with the appearing floating blocks I had to walk over and then disappear...Its so goddamn hard to see when the colors change (from white to very very light blue) And then Dante. I didn't play the previous DMC games, but this guy gives me Tom Cruise flashbacks. Did anyone else have this? For the record, Tom Cruise flashbacks is *not* a good thing.
Oops *looks for glasses* I should read things more carefully. ^^;;
"I feel all dirty all over, as I was one of the people who read the gawky teenager, buxom girls and mass awkwardness series - Love Hina - that Yahtzee was referring to." I don't think he did necessarily... There are hundreds of series like that one : P
Oh yeah. And I'm pretty much convinced at this point that Nero is Dante's illegitimate son. Some people are saying he's Vergil's, but I mean, come on. Of the two, who would be more likely to an illegitimate son? I'm pretty sure it would be Dante.
audiosurf. great game.
Probably because that's my job retard.
You mean you get paid for being a retard? Wow, isn't that just lucky.
you forget that both nero and dante wear butt-less chaps. That part of both of their clothing styles made for some very humorous dialog between my roommates and I.
True, Yahtzee, the story is rubbish. (The stuttering, monocled Agnus is a new low in Capcom's already shoddy storywriting repertoire.) But I read books for a good story. I just want ultra-violence, coolness and a game which makes me feel like I'm a human being that can actually coordinate his limbs properly. And get girls.
It is also one of the most clunky platformers I've ever played: Collectathon shinanigans so hard to get it makes Banjo-Tooie's forgivable.
Nice choice of opening song.
Showing a picture of 'Die Hard 4' i've been a long Die Hard
I feel that this game has been given way too high reviews, in nearly all sources, some evn rating it higher than Uncharted
Wrong, they may have given it a higher scores in some sources than Uncharted, but DMC4 has an 84 on the 360 and PS3 according to Metacritic, Uncharted has a score 88 on Metacritic.
Funny how there is always one banned user at the very first post of every yahtzee review. Man the end was hilarious, I would love to do that with a spider and a wasp with slipknot in the background :D Anyone else find it hilarious when Yahtzee makes fun of the main characters? Like when he calls link fagballs, and named Shepard "Titty", or say, this review.
Best review in a long time, wow.
Yahtzee strikes me as a "Cowboy Bebop" man. Of course everybody likes Cowboy Bebop. In any case, yes. Damn fine review, but at this point I'm wondering if there are any games left to review. Usually Yahtzee is at his peak when he is reviewing critically acclaimed games.
Not bad. Always a pleasure to see a bloated and overhyped series get taken down a notch. And he's keeping the boobie references to a minimum. Finally. Makes me wanna buy Fatboy Slim too.
What about Super Smash Brothers Brawl, sure to be one of the most critically acclaimed games this year. I wonder what he has to say about SSBB, which comes out in 3 days. Great review, though, as always. Also, Amber Spyglass, while not a bestseller, was overall pretty good. It just seemed like Pullman had so many ideas he liked going into the series, that he didn't want to throw any of them out. Please keep in mind that these were written with a minimum audience age of 12-13.
(see below) | |
sorry about this unnecesary second post. i accidentally posted the same message twice *feels technologically impaired*
That's a slight exaggeration, but you are right. Psychonauts did have its weak points. It was certainly not perfect. It started off slow, the opening levels were average, collections were tough, it had many platforming cliches. Where it did well though, it excelled! The dialogue was awesome, as you'd expect from the creator of 'Day of the Tentacle' and 'Grim Fandango'. The design of some levels was sheer brilliance! The Milkman, Lungfishopolis, and Gloria's Theatre levels were major standouts. There is no platform game that has ever been created, that comes close to the creativity shown on those levels. Well, not that I've played anyway. The level designs were integral to the story, and felt like it belonged. No contrivances here. Milkman had a delusional paranoid, and warped, view of the world. Lungfishopolis had its fishy scaled view of humans (and its clever Godzilla twist). The Theatre level contained set changes instead of storeys (excuse the pun). It's completely inspirational design. And to make this post somewhat on topic ... Yahtzee has struck a blow for common sense with this DMC4 review. I'll have to shout him a Crownie if I ever see him in a bar. That's buying him a beer, for those non-aussies in the crowd.
When I saw on Yahtzee's page that he reviewed DMC4 I was very anxious to see it because I'm a huge fan of DMC3 and DMC4 totally let me down. And now I can't see the vid. Apparently there's an error in the javascript. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone know how to get around it? I really really want to see the review :(
a good game..... worth $50-
How does that make what I said wrong? I'm reffering to some of the less mainstream ones.
I don't. | |
Fuck you dude, fuck you. Brawl is not coming out here for a matter of months, you arrogant bum. Sorry, that just really pisses me off. Same with Rock Band. Until GTA IV, Yahtzee will probably have to restrict himself to reviewing games that have been out a while. I'm guessing Resistance, at which point he'll be forced to agree that its close to Portal.
I seem to have a problem with watching the videos since I go to the page with the video and I see things like "to embed this video, click 'grab the code' beneath the player" but I see absolutely no player, nor any link that goes to a player. what am I supposed to do to watch these videos?
Metroid Prime !! ;D Great review I love those real life parts, "I won't forget this betrayal oh no" And of course the homo stuff is just helarious :)
Oh jesus don't get me started on Rock Band. You're saying maybe June? MAYBE JUNE?!
There's a worker at my local computer game store that can't wait for this game to come out. I can't wait to show him this review. Presumably the reason why the DMC series is no longer exclusively a Sony title because even Capcom know it's past its sell by date and will need to sell on multiple systems in order to make a profit.
I didn't find it clunky at all. Do you play games often? Also, unlike most platformers, for the majority of the time you aren't required to collect everything around you. The collections are mainly for added extras like art designs and back story information.
Fuck returning to the topic, I wanna continue venting some bile onto the internet. I mean, after Guitar Hero III ended up like a close friend turning on you and trying to shove their shit down your throat, then telling you that you owe them a meal, a concept that saw the Harmonix doing to Karaoke what they had done with Guitar Hero, except this time with talent being a helper, sounded like the perfection of a genre. Then I hear that PAL territories may not recieve it. I mean, what the fuck? Who exactly is to blame here, because someone obviously has a big old case of the bowels and brains switching positions. Is it that Harmonix is not allowing its game to come to Europe and Australia, despite, at a guess, %60 of the content being from those regions? Is it that companies aren't importing it, thinking that it might not be popular, and yet allowed the gaming equivilant of Risk or St Anger in almost at the same time as when it was in America?

Oh my god. Thanks so much for ragging on DMC4, Yahtzee. I've had to watch this trailer once every four minutes at work for the last two weeks, and the pure egotism of the protagonist makes my blood boil every time. And a dice puzzle game? What the hell?
