Fable II Alignment Contest Winner Announced!

image

The Alignments have been chosen and a winner has been proclaimed

For those of you playing at home, you might remember that the alignment with the least number of entries is the one that the winner is selected from. Surprisingly, the least popular alignment is... evil!

Yeah, we were surprised too. I guess evil is just the vocal minority. If you're curious, here's the breakdown of the final alignments:

AlignmentVotes
Good1572
Neutral1408
Evil832

And the evilest one of all? The one that takes home all the booty? Please congratulate samsprinkle, our grand prize winning overlord. He'll be receiving a copy of Fable II, an Xbox 360 Elite, and a Samsung 37" 1080p HDTV! Just as soon as he gets back to us and confirms his contact information, that is.

We still have to go over the final results from our Fable II: What Would You Do? game. Tune in next week for a post containing all the details of how many Escapist readers stole the food from a hungry child, or made beggars fight for food.

You did have to be at least 18. How did a guy with only four posts and no alignment badge manage to win the contest?

I call shenanigans!

you didn't have to play the alignment contest to enter this one, you just got a second entry.

True, but according to his profile the guy is 13 years old, meaning that he shouldn't even be eligible for the contest in the first place.

well if it's a mistake they'll fix it and announce another winner, I wouldn't win anyways so it really doesn't matter anymore.

200 will get you a pretty white hunk of plastic that happens to play 360 games... sort of.

Ah well who cares there's a winner and I hope it's not one of those little kids that shrieks like a harpy on Xbox Live when he gets the thing.

Congrats, use the power responsibly

I was born in 1989 and I'm a month away from being 19, so that just doesn't sound right to me :/

not to mention the 49.99(39.73 at walmart) memory card to save your games which jacks it up roughly to 250 plus the game itself which again raises it up to $310.00 and that's not including tax.

I got one but it doesn't pay me, stupid academic credit courses. Grad school is deadly on the wallet but if it makes you feel any better someday I'm supposed to have one.

For those complaining about the winner's birthdate:

Who's to say I'm not really 750 years old, and my birthdate is only to avoid people coming after me for my secret to immortality?

By making entrants check that little "I'm over 18" box, Themis is simply keeping themselves safe from legal backlash when a mother finds out they gave their 14 year-old kid an M rated videogame.

so its ok to give 14 year olds rated M games, just as long as they lie to us about their age?

Do you have any suggestions on how The Escapist could confirm age even were the birth date were to show the person as 18?

If they were forced to enter their parents' phone numbers and then you could call their parents and ask them for the winner's actual birthdate, and so if the winner happens to be younger than 18 he becomes illegible for the prize and a new winner must be chosen.

um, tell the winner to send a copy them some kind of valid proof of age (ID, Driver License, etc)

Social Security number

driver license number

birth certificate

theres tons of visible proof of anyones age

Just to clear things up, the birthday on your account is different than the one in your profile that everyone can see. We use the one on the account (which can't be viewed or edited after you register) for the age check, as well as the checkbox on the contest entry that asks you to confirm you're over 18.

Be assured that we will be verifying age before we actually send out the prize - we're legally obligated to. If it's not valid, we'll pick another winner.

I actually don't think the news post was supposed to go up when it did though :P

So, Virgil, is the current 'winner' 18 years or older or not? I'm just curious, 'cos I know I was too young to enter anyway. :)

Based on the entry and account, yes. I don't think they verified with the winner yet though - that's why I don't think the post was supposed to go up. I think someone hit approve on accident :P

Banned!

Na, I'm kidding. Congrats to the winner, if he really is a winner. If not, congrats to whoever takes his place *prays to every major and minor god known to man*.

What would you do?

1. Congratulate the contest winner!

2. "Just another day" and go on with your life.

3. KILL HIM AND TAKE HIS STUFF! hack into Themis-Media and give yourself that badge!

and c'mon, everyone knew that "Good" would have been the least popular choice, so they ended up outsmarting themselves.

I voted for evil ;_; then neutral the second.

I came to 4 logical conclusions going by evil was what everyone's first reaction was going to be.

1. If everyone is evil, they will naturally go for good to outsmart the majority of evil ones.

2. If you realize most people are going to go to good to outsmart the evil ones, then sticking to evil will mean having the least number of votes.

3. Everyone will be polarizing themselves as good or evil so going neutral will be the smartest.

4. Realizing that any of the above three are logical and not having any proof that people will pick a certain one, you are left with a 33 and a third percent chance that one group will have the least votes considering you have no other confirmed facts. So just pick one and cross your fingers. This is the one I picked and I chose evil because that's what I always do.

I picked evil but got the neutral badge for the questions. I really thought evil would be the majority. I guess everyone else thought that too.
