Bah, I didn't like this one much but that's probably due to me finding games like Saints Row and GTA incredibly boring most of the time. Still if that batman game he suggested ever came out I would so buy it. | |

Hmm... call me slow, but I still haven't even finished GTA IV. Maybe that says something about the gameplay. I liked an earlier GTA better, where I looked at the stats toward the end of the game and discovered I had killed over 10,000 people. Well COME ON! The sidewalks are always less congested! Well, not as congested with cars and things that can damage MY car, anyway. Getting five stars was FUN, and I could usually get away with it. Maybe I'll find a convenient attack helicopter or tank in this game eventually...? I mean, sure, in GTA IV it's gratifying to hit a minivan at 100+MPH with a police car and see the driver crawl out on fire and hear a little kid screaming 'mommy' and die as the car explodes... but it doesn't happen ENOUGH. And WTF happened to head shots? Used to be able to POP heads with the rifles. Now you can stand over a body and shotgun the head repeatedly and nothing happens. 'Realism' my ass! It's like frickin' DISNEY took over the development. | |

Just don't let Molyneux near it. Was a good review, but I think the Escapist Show preview spoiled it a bit. But it did leave out the rubbish music. | |

I will admit that one of my problems with GTA4 was that, while it is the descendant of one of the progenitors of sanbox games, it just was too realistic and slow to enjoy as a sandbox game. I still say my favorite in this kind of sub-genre is Crackdown. That game actually had me runnning around doing random stuff just to increase my stats and see how high I could jump or how fast I could drive with the next upgrade. | |

I actually came to this thread expecting to see a mob of rampaging GTA fanboys... I'm almost disappointed! :] Entertaining as always and great to hear that Yahtzee is back to his fast talking self. And please put me down for that superhero villain game please. I'll take two copies. | |

Me, either, although it raises the question... Does Yahtzee like Pokemon games? I'd imagine not, and that he'd run them through with rusty nails shaped like penises(see the Turok review), but it would be an interesting watch. On the main point, I've only played a borrowed copy of the first game, and I found every single point in this review completely backwards compatable with the last one. Good, wholesome, honest, sandboxy, hypothetical barrel of hypothetical monkeys fun, but more annoying than an actual barrel of actual monkeys. | |

Oh my god, the world must have come to an end. Ben likes yet another game. This seems to happen quite a lot recently. First it was Braid, then S.T.A.L.K.E.R and now this. Would this mean that the gaming industry has grown better? Meh. But I would like to see Yahtzee reviewing Little Big Planet. | |

Well I'm surprised he gave it a chance, and shares my opinion on the matter. I still think GTA IV is the "better" game - but I find Saints Row 2 way more fun and addicting.
