Slogan Winners Announced!

image

Thank you to everyone that participated in The Escapist Slogan contest! There were so many awesome slogans and reasons behind them, we couldn't pick just one, so we picked 5 to receive $50 gift certificates from Amazon.com.

Here are the 5 winners:

Adair_the_Skull with "The Escapist, Break Free"
PedroSteckecilo with "The New Standard of Intelligent Gaming Culture"
Lvl 64 Klutz with "Profound. Gaming. Lifestyle"
maantren with "The Escapist: Good games. New worlds. Real people"
elbryan108 with "Where gamers THRIVE"

Also, I want to reiterate how difficult it was for us to select only 5 slogans. Most were truly creative, and we appreciate the support of our community members. The slogans and reasoning behind them gave us great insight into our awesome community and how to better serve it in the future.

Congrats too all

That would be a great way of deterring trolls "oh god lots of words run" .

Woohoo! At the current conversion rate, that's about $35,000 NZ dollars....

Cheers

Whoa! Sweet! *adds that to his resume*

Seriously, though. After reading through even the ones people were willing to post in the original thread, I'm in shock. Congratulations all, indeed.

No, but I did get some really nifty shuriken magnets, so it's still a win.

Were they shurikens of lightning? Sorry couldn't resist. Do the shurikens actually work?Because that would be pretty sweet!

It looks like a couple people took their cues from Enormicom.com ( http://www.37signals.com/enormicom ).

Congratulations to all parties involved. I'm thoroughly impressed with the simplicity, yet functionality, of the winners.

Since I said I would, my submission was:
"The Escapist - Erasing banality by embracing Escapism."

mine was "THE exit from boredom.", using the whole ESCAPE theme. but...whatever. congrats to all.

I liked "We have issues." better. But congrats to the winners.

Mine was, "Welcome, welcome to the Escapist, it's safer here."

But on reflection it doesn't seem so good anymore.

Mine was "game chat matters".

Also not very good upon reflection.

Congrats. These probably beat my suggestion: "The Escapist, where stupid people need not apply."

Trust me when I say there were a lot of GREAT slogans. It was very difficult to bring it down to 5.

awwww If I knew about this contest I would have won easily with
"The Escapist - No stupid slogans here, find out for yourself!"
*pout* no matter, I just stole that anyway sooooooo.

You know, I'd like to think a site like this would choose something a little funnier or to-the-point. The bland vagueries here all sound like capital M Marketing to me (my wife works in the Publishing Industry as a Marketing Manager, so perhaps I'm a little jaded by it). They're not bad at all, just sort of generic. You could apply them to any gaming website.

My entry of "We have more than Zero Punctuation......promise" (with promise in italics) was obviously the right choice. :)

Good job to all the winners: My personal favourite was Adair_The_Skull's.

Oh, and if anyone wants to know, I entered with:

The Escapist: On The Right Page.

I don't understand why these captions won. Not only do they lack any creativity, but they are cliched and boring. Mine was at least worth a mention, I think.

"The Escapist: Ensconce, Efface, Educe."

It is perfect alliteration, and unless you have never read a book, you should know what the words mean, and that the phrase makes sense. To Escape, you first settle into a private, comfortable place. Then you you erase all prior preconceptions of yourself or the world around you- you start with a clean slate. Finally, you develop previously latent potential in yourself. All of these things make up the act of Escaping into a video game.
