It'll probably sell unabashedly well in Japan. As for me, it's a big fat, "meh" and I think I'll wait a few years for it to hit GameTap. Meanwhile, me and the rest of the glorious PC master race will have to suffice for the irrational grindfest MMORPGs which are one of the few PC exclusive things left next to the benefit of mouse-driven real time strategy and first person shooter games.

maybe it's just because I own the PC version but I have never seen the game tell me when to block (except the QTE when you are nearly dead that gives you the chance to not start over the boss with 3/4 of it's health back)

I to own the PC version and may I say that the game will display a nice sword and claw at the bottom constantly during combat that flickers brightly and says īpress right mouse button to blockī.

And there is nothing wrong with QTE, unlike Yahtzee I donīt mind em that much but combat is ALL QTE, the rest just goes on attack, deflect, attack, deflect, till infinity. You canīt lend a blow without using something that will trigger an animated sequence in which you contribute nothing but slam buttons in the right order and when you get hit or knocked into a wall you are bloody drowned in them.

Once I was fighting the concubine and i wanted to see how i would fare without using the claw or Elika so I only used the sword and deflect. Wanna know what happened?

The game suddenly lasted longer why because my enemy deflected every single sword attack I threw at her and I did the same. It was a 15 minute blockfest that had me so bored and frustrated I could no longer continue and decided to go outside for a minute to cool my head in -5.

I was not saying that it was yet to be released on the PC, just that a game developed with consoles in mind is generally not that satisfying to play on the PC so I'll wait for it to hit gametap.

Yes, I'm aware MMORPGs have been out on consoles for awhile now. Although they're generally pretty inferior to the typical PC/Mac MMORPG because they have to be stripped down to make use of a keyboardless interface. (Yes, there are keyboards you can buy for consoles, but not many players do.)

Dude, rule of thumb, don't take Yahtzee so seriously that you let him dissuade you from getting a game. If you look at his reviews as anything other than humor you're missing the point.

Yahtzee's reviews are first, and foremost, a review.
All these morons saying "uh huh, I wish he ripped into the game more, it's more funny that way, har har" and etcetera are missing the point. Yahtzee's reviews are simply reviews that are meant to entertain, typically through humour but also just with the accompanying visuals.

Notice that the title of the piece is "Yahtzee reviews X" not "Yahtzee now performs a 5 piece comic monologue on the subject of X".

That being said, if a person is serious about reading into reviews before buying a game, they shouldn't do just what Yahtzee tells them (he did, btw, recommend this game). But a person should look at multiple sources to get different viewpoints. One man's trash is another man's treasure as they say.

I was expecting a fair amount of bile. PoP made me smile. This review made me laugh.

I thought that Yahtzee was going to hate it much more than this, but nevertheless, a good review.

I don't think that the amount of times you die is proportional to the difficulty of a game. I died tons of times as well, but that was mostly because I either ran into the impossible-to-avoid-unless-you-try-over-and-over-again "corruption" or forgot which way to tilt the analog stick to specify whether I wanted to jump onto a ledge or jump away from it.

One thing about the block.

If you block, you can counter-attack. This disrupts enemy's attacks and let you continue fight.

Also, with Elika you can get 14 hit combo. And you don't need her close to enemy, just make sure you do the first hit. Then her distance doesn't matter.

Oh, and Elika speaks Persian.

Why the hell do I have to undo everything I spent the last 15 hours doing? What was the point? Stupid ending.

I was looking for him to post this one. I havent played the game yet, but I still have my PoP original trilogy. Its a shame he didnt enjoy it, though you'd think they'd have the whole Prince of Persia thing down by now...
