So does those men rowing the boat don't have a steam account or not a pc gamer or something?

Bindal:
So far, I had a total outcome of... ZERO! No really. I bought a DLC and a soundtrack from the money I got from those cards. And with the exception of one planned purchase (Baldur's Gate EE for 75% - I know it will come. I just don't know when), I won't spend anything, anyway.

It was on the first day of the sale I believe. Or at least it was very damn recently. But I'm sure it'll pop up either way. They always do those "most popular" sales on the last day, and I can't see why they wouldn't.

It appeard as option for a community sale, but lost against System Shock 2. It wasn't on sale yet (it was two weeks prior the Summer sale, but I didn't have the option to buy it then).

I assume, it's going to be on a Blitzdeal before it goes on a Daily one but both is possible at any time.

Steam, you wicked temptress! I have actually dropped Summer Sale games in the damned Steam cart and then "back"ed out of buying them. I have the money. It's the principal.

How many games in a Steam library is enough? I've got a ton over there in the left margin that I've never even played. I guess I should at least give some a try before I go all gushy and buy some new material.

Shit. Rogue Legacy made me her dislexic, endomorphic bitch.

You buy stuff for your girlfriend outside of birthdays/anniversaries/over-commercialised religious holidays?

I need to step up my game.

Well, I TRY to... but then Steam comes along and ruins it.

I actually didn't buy anything until now (well, in the gog sale I picked Master of Orion up, but that is not the point here)

I just really don't have any money, but I got 2,78€ on my account, so if anything drops below that and is good I will get that, I suppose.

Although Kerbal Space Programm brought me close to typing in my PayPal details (and the sale is still going on, we'll see if I go through with it).

The last couple of sales I had a steady job and dropped regularly between 100 and 150€, so I got quite the backlog of unplayed games at my disposal at the moment anyways.

Does your girlfriend game? Now there's a majorly convenient cross section of interests!

First panel, you can see them stuffing wax/cotton in their ears, as happened in the original story. The guy tied to the mast wanted to hear the Sirens/see the sales but didn't want to die.

I guess they represent moving forward through time, but that's not as funny.

Too convenient. She doesn't game. :P

So, which kind person wants to explain these trading cards to me?

lacktheknack:

I held out until yesterday.

Then FO:New Vegas sunk me at 75%.

Luckily it was the only game I wanted out of the sale.

(I hope).

I'm ashamed to say that I've spent like 45€ this summer on games, which is a lot more than you'd think when you're living in the poorest country in the EU.

I've spent 80 so far. Out of my savings. To buy a car.

And I have no intention of slowing down.

Zachary Amaranth:

I've been quite restrained this year actually, weighing up what I will actually get around to playing etc when making my purchase decisions.

Personally, most of the stuff I would want I already own.

Kind of facing the same situation. Now that I have disposable income, I can afford to buy games at regular price. That combined with the fact that most games I want have gone on sale in the past means there aren't really that many I like that I don't already own.

Having a decent job definitely has it's perks.

Mike Kayatta:
No Man can avoid such classic humor.

Seems a bit antiquated to me.

So far, the only thing I've bought was the early access to Kinetic Void, and that was mostly so I can play around with the ship editor.

I had tried to resist, I had!
But... Thief 2 was $2.30...
You can call my boat "sunk" then.

I've been blessed by the fact that most games that I want were already bought on a previous steam sale.

Only 2 purchases (chivalry and Tomb Raider) so far and I highly doubt there are too many more that I may get other than some DLC for Sleeping Dogs which I just started. Even the DLC, I generally only get actual expansions and not horse armour.

double post

Sing to me of the GabeN, Steam, the GabeN of twists and turns
driven time and again off Half-Life 3, once he had plundered
the hallowed depths of wallets.

Surprisingly little on offer. Because I already bought all of it in the last SALE :D

Only going to get Dragonborn he said. Has enough games still to play already he said. "Can't afford it anyway" he said.

Past me is a fucking liar. Where are all our excuses now?! How are we going to pay those loan sharks?! Any more pearls of wisdom past me? No, thought not.

ARE YOU READY FOR A MIRCALE?

My wallet is so empty...

Quicksilver_Phoenix:

Genericjim101:
Is that a Ken Ashcorp "Rival" reference in the tagline?

Exactly what I thought too!

Yeah, looking at that tagline several times the only thing I can think of is Ken Ashcorp.

Captcha: "face the music". Appropriate, Captcha.

When you get tempted by the siren call of a great sale on something just remember this

You'll save 100% by not buying anything.

As for Steam, I was tempted to buy Dishonered but I resisted and decided I'll just rent it.

Speaking of which that's a console advantage no one ever brings up.

I find the best way to avoid buying tons of games on Steam sales is to just not have any money to spend on games, though that really didn't stop me. I still bought the new Penny Arcade RPG for $2.50 but that's going to be all because I don't get paid until the 7th of next month.

lacktheknack:
Pretty much.

"No, lacktheknack. You have little money. You could use that money to buy a gift for your girlfri-"

Tomb Raider is now 75% off.

"SHE CAN HAVE A GIFT NEXT MONTH! [buys]"

And that is how Steam may have ruined my relationship. :P

In my relationship, Steam sales are the gifts. It ties in so beautifully. Yet it's so poisonous.

*weeps for his wallet*

Was it your girlfriends birthday or something?

OT:

Bought a few things, Deus Ex: HR was 85% off, so I got it for a friend who had it on their wishlist. I also got Anno 2070, Star Drive and XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Considering Dishonoured. Anyone have any recommendations?

I resisted Deus Ex: HR, for I know the Director Cut is comming to PC soon, just no info how they will release it, mostly want for the boss fight revamp.

iniudan:

Thought that was staying exclusive to some sort of console? I didn't keep up with this snippet.

The boss fights were a bit stupid, but DE:HR remains in my top 5 games of all time. I'm a sucker for cyber-punky stuff like that, plus the story of conspiracy etc was quite cool.

I'll probably just watch a let's play of the new boss fights when I feel like it.

All of PS3, Xbox360 and PC are getting the director cut, but yes it has been exclusive to the WiiU for a while.

I guess I should be happy I withdrew all the cash from my bank account days before the steam sale happened. BUT I'M NOT. *sobs at the thought of all the deals she's missing*

whelp not been so bad got the rpgmaker since I want to try my hand at it with some mates and since it was down to 15 from 40 I can live with that. The other was walking dead which I had been waiting for to be on sale for ages and finally got it for a fiver to see what the hype was about. Worth every penny. The rest of the sales so far I haven't been that interested in so I'm hoping that is the extent of my buying on steam, gog was a different matter.

iniudan:
-snip-

That's cool. Why on earth it's exclusive to the Wii U for all that time is beyond me. Did the sales figures co-incide with that or something?

As in the myth of ancient Greece, the Sirens want to eat you.

Resisting the sales is not even remotely difficult if you're broke.
Funny comic though.
These are my emotions. They are not very emotive. Probably because I speak like a robot would. But I am not a robot. I am a human being instead of a robot. Which I am not.
