Actually, the DS game was pretty fun. It's the XBLA game that's lacking.

Heh, was never even considering this game. I can still manage to have hours of fun on my DS version, and good or not, there was no way I was going to spend money for a game I already own. I was pretty confident anyway that what you mention about controls would end up true.
