Mediocrity Scrolls Online

Bitch, you can't have my space money, I need it for space hookers and space blow.

Saw the punchline coming by the 2nd panel, still got a good laugh out of it. If that is indeed how TES:O plays, then yes, I would have to say it does indeed give an authentic TES experience.

That's also why I had absolutely no desire to get the game. Paying once for a TES game is fine enough, continuing to pay for one over and over would just be silly if you ask me.

Played the beta of TES:O and the thing that I hated the most about the game was the other players... So I guess I'll just stick to Skyrim.

The cuteness ends, I see...anyhoo, I'd only agree with one of those things.

I sure hope TES: VI still happens.

And if you buy this on Xbox One you'll also have to pay a subscription for Xbox Live. So at that point you're paying for the game, paying the subscription, paying for Xbox Live, all for a game with microtransactions.

Bitch please, you can't afford no space hookers. Get outta here!

They can have my money when the Earth is taken over by giant space leeches from Neptune.

Unless ESO gives me BJs and pudding it is not worth upfront price and 15$ subscription. Where I live brand new AAA games cost 30$ top, and I can easily get slightly older AAA games every month for that much. Besides, I still have to try out a few more mods in SKYRIM>

Good to see Erin talk about "floaty" combat. I feel this is a more authentic gaming comic now.

>.>

Also, it's not an authentic TES experience until you have 50,000 people simultaneously screaming about the power of mods because the game itself is apparently ass but mods are the sweet elixer or life.

The worst thing about ES:O is that while it's active, you won't see a new "proper" Elder Scrolls game. Yeah, let that sink in. For the next 5-10 years (or more), there will be no new Elder Scrolls. Have fun :)

Optimistic timeline. I give it a year.

Urgh, lets hope it dies by years end then.

Yeah no, when this thing goes F2P in a few months, Bethesda'll start thinking about the cash they were raking in with Skyrim.

Except it was developed/worked on by a different group than the one that works on the core ES games, and has also been declared noncanon in ES lore, so I doubt it will have much of an impact, if any, on the single player ES releases.

Don't worry guys, the combat has hotbar abilities now. That's surely an improvement over Skyrim's one-button-per-weapon combat system, right?
...Right?

I've speculated before that the whole purpose of the in game cash shop is to make the inevitable transfer to F2P easier since the backbone of the system is already in place. I do hope they long for Skyrim money though. I swoon for another TES.

Um...what? ES:O was made by a different company then Bethesda, and is set a good 2000 years or so before Skyrim, probably to avoid the situation you stated above.

Anyway. I think Zenimax misunderstood when some people said they wanted multiplayer in a ES game. See, I wouldn't mind if there was an option for some. It would be kinda cool to be able mess around Tamriel with -a good buddy or two occasionally-. The last thing I want in it is having to deal with 1000s of random jackholes.

meh, I'll check it out after a couple of years

based on bethesda's track record thats how long it will take for the dlc to come out that makes the game good, and for the community to make mods to fix all of their boneheaded decisions regarding interface and game balance

oh wait this is an mmo so no balance mods.....guess I'll just watch lets plays and not bother

I was watching them on Twitch and was surprised when Grey said he didn't like it, then I released the stream was called 'Grey suffers through more of this terrible bullshit'.

It's the legendary quadruple-dip. Such a thing is only legend.
Way may live in the end times.

When it goes F2P they'll probably make more money than they did with Skyrim.

These people should have tried to rip off Borderlands instead of trying to rip off World of Warcraft. Me and 3 buddies toolin' around Tamriel swordin' and sorcerin' for $60? Sign me up! MMO grind with awkward mouse-and-hotbar controls, obnoxious jerks everywhere and (inevitable) goldseller spam? Yeah, no thanks.

Where the fuck did you get that from?

Common sense. What reason would Bethesda have to make more SP TES when they can push out hundreds of pounds worth of cosmetics and expansions for thier MMO.

Except ESO isnt being made by the same guys who make the single player titles, so there goes that morsel of 'common sense'.

I used to think they were old wives tales, told to children in ancient times to make them behave. I can't believe they're real O_o

This is why I hate MMO's or rather their allure developers have for them. They always take an existing franchise with good games and try to shoehorn the MMO aspect into it. When development is halfway to almost done, the publisher starts hyping it up as the bee's knees WoW killer. Then it comes out and is either a dud or a mildly decent single player game where you pay a monthly subscription and put up with other players in your own game. Regardless of whether they had a separate development team or not, the whole deal just looks like a betrayal to the fan base and a waste of resources and time that could be put towards the next great game. It is virtually always like that.

Because ESO is developed by Zenimax Online while Bethesda themselves make the single player TES and Fallout titles.

I didn't think this was gonna be the kind of game that could tear me away from Guild Wars 2.

Can someone kindly explain to me why ESO being developed by someone other than the core TES people and the question of if there will be more single player TES games or not, are in any way related?

The reason your "I can't even be bothered to google something but i'm still going to complain MIMIMIMIMIMIMIMIMIMIMIMIMIM" people are suggesting that future is not because the TES team wont have time to do another game. It's because it makes sense. As long as ESO makes money (and it will, even once it's inevitably going the F2P way) why on earth would they make a contender for it and risk that both games make less money than they theoretically could?

Ofc, that's just a guess. I know as little about the plans of Zenimax as anyone else on here. But it's not the stupid one you make it look like. Maybe cynical though...

And where shall our savior come from? The consoles have grown fat and weak from their spunkgargleweewee. The once-benevolent PC king buries us in shovelware. The lords of mobile seek to unleash an even greater evil.

REPENT! THE END IS HERE!

You're being way too harsh, the writhing isn't awful its more the regular kind of bad, and the combat isn't floaty its just kind of boring, So it's already very similar to most mmo's.

I'm joking and I do actually like elder scroll games even if I do think they are very flawed, even so im not going to touch the elder scrolls online until it becomes free to play.
