Top 5 Misunderstood Grim Reapers

You know, Death gets a bad rap. He's not that bad of a guy once you get to know him, and Lisa's here with the Top 5 Grim Reapers who just can't catch a break.

Watch Video

I have to admit that I flinched when I saw Goth Lisa.

Also, I rarely see Death in the Sims. Mainly because I don't sadistically kill them off (anymore, as that got old fast). However, I have seen Death pretty often in Sims Medieval. And he looks pretty badass.

What the... outfit???
Not that I'm disappointed ... ;)

And yes, position 1 was already in my mind before I hit "play"!

Ah yes, you've gotta love Manny.
I'd have like to see Death from the Discworld mentioned though. I love that guy.
And he loves cats.

Death from Discworld WINS. Huzzzah!

Also, special Guest hostess Lydya Deets!

Captcha: I like Turtles

The Turtle Moves!

Please god let that be a wig. Not that it looks bad but redheads are just so hot!

Gregg is my hero.

I totally forgot about Gregg's part in Conker.

The goth look was great Lisa, and the top 5 was spot on perfect!

Eh, I never much cared for the Grim Reaper...

.......

Good list though!

I actually still haven't played Grim Fandango yet. I need to rectify this.

Hey! That black wig and stuff..... they actually looked pretty amazing on you :D
I usually don't dig the whole Goth thing, but you actually made it look good :)

Totally should have put Gregg as the #1. He was just such an amazing character! So tired and pissed off and ready for the day to be over, but NOOO Conker had to be a squirrel and be a special case etc...

Also...um wig? Why wig?

I just love Top 5 and Lisa, and I hate to get all pervy, but sweet merciful crap, I didn't think it was possible for her to get any more attractive...

Well i got to say it Lisa, the Goth look suit you. I really like it

I thought there was a special guest. It took me way too many seconds to realize it was Dark Lisa.

I was worried that No. 1 wouldn't be Manny Calavera. I'm so glad to have been wrong. :-)

Would've liked to see Death from Dragon's Dogma get on there, or at least an honourable mention. Admittedly he has no personality to speak of, but is one of the hardest monsters in the game.

Ugh, this site gets way too creepy in the comments section for Lisa's vids. You don't see anyone telling Chris how sexy he looks in his Sonic shirt in No Right Answers. I might start.

Also Manny was the only acceptable choice for the #1 spot. Well done.

I'm not one to make lecherous comments on appearance, and Lisa (though one of my favourite of the escapist's personalities) is not exactly my type... But when rocking that dark look she is one of the most beautiful young women in existence O_O Damn Lisa... after years of hosting this show you finally made the jaw drop on he whom is likely the prudest male in your audience!

OT: All I can really say is it's cool to see Greg in there, for to have omitted him would have been tantamount to heresy :p

Great list Lisa! Also digging the goth look.

Typically, I'd agree, but it's such a striking look from what we're used to, that I think some leeway is in order this particular time.

Jacco:
Please god let that be a wig.

I'm surprised that no one else besides Jacco here and me dislike the goth look. It at least doesn't fit Lisa's mood.

But good topic anyways. The Grim Reaper is my choice of Halloween character and many others' too, it seems. It is the perfect combination of "classic horrifying creature" and "guy who hates his job" with an unusual weapon (based on farming, of all activities) to boot.

Wow, you look really good as a brunette.

Yep, absolutely saw Manny Calavera coming. Now I want to play Grim Fandango again, but I still remember the solutions to all the puzzles. #FirstWorldProblems

And here I was hoping for Grimm from Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy.

Why is it "creepy?" I really hate that word. It gets way overused for stupid shit like this.

We're a bunch of adult men who (I assume) like to look at attractive women. No one here is saying they want to stalk and murder her or anything. If they were, THAT would be creepy. Simply commenting on a rather striking difference from the norm on an otherwise attractive woman is not "creepy."

Sorry to be ranty, but that's one thing that really hits my annoyance button.

I thought she looked cute, but I came here to say that I knew Grimm fandango would win.

Hope I'm not wrong here but for those wondering about the outfit. The costume is Death from the sandman comics. I think, its not an exact match but close enough as makes no difference. Which is an awesome choice of attire for a top 5 about Grim Reapers :D

Jacco:
Why is it "creepy?"

I am only guessing here, and will apologize if I misrepresent Mcoffey's complaint, but I would venture it's creepy based on how many people have seemingly nothing to say at all about the quality of the work and only choose to comment on how attractive they find her, which heavily implies her appearance is the only facet of her work people think is worthy of consideration or remark. Objectification is not requisite for those kinds of comments, but it's hard to escape when telling someone, "Hey, I don't know you and you have never met nor seen me, but I nevertheless feel compelled to tell you my opinions about your appearance and how your appearance affects me."

(For the record, I've nothing to say about this video because I have managed to never play any of the games that appear on the list, so there's not much for me to say beyond, "I like the clips of that one Death who hates cats.")

I've never even played Grim Fandango and I had it picked as the winner haha
still, it was entertaining as always.

And Dark Lisa is Best Lisa

Taking note of an appearance change is one thing, but more than a few of these go a bit beyond that, wouldn't you say?

Did you ever ponder whether your comments were desired or even necessary?

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was getting at. :)

Really liking the style you went with this time around Lisa. Suits the Grim Reaper episode perfectly.

I must say, I never have seen the Grim Reaper as some evil spirit that wants to harvest souls. Rather, regardless of fantasy or reality checks on the mythical being- he/she is one very interesting figure. Someone who escorts the dead to whatever destination they're suppose to go towards.

Who's to say he/she even likes the job? I think it would be to saddening even if you're immortal/hardcore to the point it doesn't phase you as much. All well. Also yes, I am used to death because I have been pouring hours into Dark Souls 2. Nice reference you threw in there about that :)

Yeah, Manny was the obvious choice for number one. Pleased to see Gregg get in there too.

Also, this was what I immediately thought of when I saw Lisa's look for this episode.

Yup, Manny is awesome, and Death from Discworld sadly misses out on a spot purely for being a literary character rather than a videogame one.

There were a couple of Discworld games released and I'm pretty sure Death featured in them.

And I hate to admit it, but I didn't notice the change in hair and costume until about a minute in the video.

The video isn't about the best grim reapers, but the most misunderstood ones. Death from Discworld is perfectly well understood.
