MovieBob Predicts the (Near) Future of Movies

Only time will tell whether these educated guesses about upcoming movies are right or wrong.

In regards to Han potentially dying, you might have a bit there. If only (Based on conjecture) with how Harrison's been getting hurt during the production and the subsequent delaying of the movie because of it.

Is anyone else distracted by the formatting of this, especially the first page? Broken links, caps, bold, italics, other links. The format of the text is switching back and forth a lot. It makes it a little difficult to read.

@Scrumpmonkey (Sorry, the quoting feature is broken now for some reason for me): I am. I think a lot of Bob's articles must come in just under the while, because they often have a number of formatting, spelling and grammatical errors.

I think Cumberbatch would make a good Doctor Strange if they can convince him to smile a bit. A lot of these seem pretty reasonable.

However, I disagree that they'll bring the new Avengers to the fore just yet. I think they'll finish the Avengers trilogy they have planned by phasing out Chris Evans and anyone else who wants out, then take a few standalone pictures to test what characters people respond to. I agree that Civil War seems like a good place to take the MCU, but to do that they have to establish superheroes as widespread vigilantes, rather than an elite team already controlled by the world government/whoever is going to run the Avengers now.

MovieBob:
They also have to know that you can't build the entire action-heavy movie -- to say nothing of an entire new trilogy -- on the adventures of a trio of 60-70 year-old actors.

The Expendables 3 says "hi".

I'm 100% all for Ms. Marvel showing up and getting her due, but the whole "politics" theme behind having her at all, i.e. it's not that she's interesting or beloved, it's just that she's a woman and Marvel wants to beat DC in the progressive championing game, is made even more baffling - almost honestly nauseating if it weren't also kind've fascinatingly ironic - by the suggestion that her original title which branded her as simply a distaff counterpart for a male hero has been officially and notably broken to give her the "Captain" title and make her more progressive and independent, only to now possibly give her back "Ms." and making that the progressive point by focusing mainly on the fact that she's a woman.

It's like why He-Man, TMNT, or Power Rangers exist in their most remembered forms - it's a net-positive that they exist because they're entertaining/have interesting mythos or dynamics/represent a different culture or viewpoint, but their true purpose - appealing to market-testing and being toy commercials - sullies the legitimate joy you get out of them.

And those movies kind of prove his point. But, at the same time, the reason why those movies more or less work as well as it does in order to make a profit, it's really all about the nostalgia of seeing all of your favorite action heroes doing action hero-y things in an all-star action hero movie.

Things might be a little bit different for Star Wars.

But the whole Han Solo dying thing...ugh! Is this going to be another Mystery Box thing? Coz', I'm not sure if I can handle another one of those after the thing that was Into Darkness.

Actually, now just thinking about it, it might actually be a dumber mystery thing than that...

Ok, I hate to be That Guy - I really do - but Bob's sloppy editing is really starting to grate with me. Especially since I'm actually trying to find work as a writer or editor, it's maddening that he's actually being paid to make basic errors that even a little proofreading would pick up on. He persistently gets "its" and "it's" wrong; in his Intermission about Marvel continuity gags he left a placeholder instead of actually saying which years Walt Simonson wrote Thor, and it's just generally haphazard.

Here, he uses "you're" when it should be "your" (Basically, you're guesses get better) - when you get it that way around you're genuinely not even trying any more - and as Scrumpmonkey mentioned, the insertion of the link into the first page of this article is pretty inept.

And breathe. Like I said, I don't mean to be critical, but this sort of thing just drives me mad, and Bob does it all the time.

What if Harrison Ford didn't break his leg and it's all a cover up for the scene in the movie where Han gets pulled out on a stretcher and later dies?

*Possible Spoiler comment*

According to this site, on the credited cast list, it seems there is no mention to a character resembling a Ms.Marvel/Carol Danvers. But there is a mention of Howard the Duck, tho :P

Here's the link:

http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney-guardians-of-the-galaxy-cameos-71908/

I think Luke could end up dying in the new trilogy, but it'd have to be after Han dies. I'm thinking late into Episode VII or early into Episode IX (like Yoda). They've certainly got to axe somebody in Episode VII, however, like how they did with Ben Kenobi in the original.

Also, I'm hoping that they'd ditch the "Ms." for "Captain" by the second Captain Marvel movie. They've gotta do it for at least one, but I would hope that they just let the character and the film speak for itself.

You have an evil sense of humor! :-)

I thought 2 really disappointed in stupid ways but hope springs eternal. I can't wait for 3.

Most shudder inducing prediction: that awful Death of Superman idea.

The only thing I've seen or heard that has me even a little excited is Afleck in the Batman suit.

DC has really got to step up its game. How can they be so much better at cartoons than Marvel, yet be choking so badly on the big screen?

Gorfias:
DC has really got to step up its game. How can they be so much better at cartoons than Marvel, yet be choking so badly on the big screen?

Its easy when the guy writing your Justice League movie calls She-Hulk "chunky" and "a giant, green porn star", and then goes on to say that he can't bring Matrian Manhunter into the film because only nerdy virgins know about him, and its such a dumb idea for a character, a detective, rly guise!1![1].

Oh, and he finished that bit of stupidity with this:

"I would set it up like The Day After Tomorrow. We discover one of those Earth-like planets... So maybe like... we get the DNA code from that planet and then grow him in a petri dish here... He's like in Area 51 or something and we're just basically... doing biopsies on him. Then he gets out and he's really angry and he fucks She-Hulk."

Brav-fucking-o.

And that is why we can't have nice DC movies. Maybe if they got people who didn't have an open disdain for the source material, the movies might be good.

[1] Yes, because the Watchmen and Batman films, starring detective, were so fucking awful

MovieBob:
So. A few weeks back, HitFix's Drew McWeeny drew some professional flack for (seemingly) giving up a major, major, MAJOR spoiler about the (possible) fate of one of the key Avengers. (Seriously, think twice before you click that.) The spoiler in question mostly drew attention because of how it mirrors a major recent comics storyline focused on one specific character

As a reader of comics, it can only be really one thing considering you mention it as a prelude to Civil War and it sure as shit ain't house of M...

Still if it's what I think it is, I banked on it. There is not much else fun they can do with him

MovieBob:
2. SUPERMAN WILL "DIE" IN BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

Yes! I want to see Superman die!
In fact... Hey, Bob! Will you ever do a Big Picture about Doomsday and the death of Superman?

Anachronism:
Ok, I hate to be That Guy - I really do - but Bob's sloppy editing is really starting to grate with me.

Considering that he's the most prolific contributor to this site, I'd be inclined to cut him a little slack. Besides, the occasional grammar mistake is hardly the only thing sloppy about the Escapist. I've seen formatting errors on the homepage up for an entire day, numerous videos and podcasts with "I'll edit this part out later...", I've had the forum crash in my iOS browser, etc. Personally, I think the whole site needs a much stricter editorial voice and the backend needs to be rewritten from the ground up.

If these predictions all came true, I would either hail Bob as a prophet, or accuse him of sorcery. What I'd like to know is what's going to replace S.H.I.E.L.D.? I would like to nominate the Sentient World Observation and Response Department, a.k.a. S.W.O.R.D.
http://marvel.wikia.com/S.W.O.R.D._(Earth-616)

@Darth_Payn, S.H.I.E.L.D. is being rebuilt. S.W.O.R.D. already exists in the MCU, and it's function is pretty clear: they handle outer space stuff. They are humanity's S.W.O.R.D., fending off the external, while S.H.I.E.L.D. handles the internal. Apart from sharing a few spaceships I don't see them being anything more then the FBI is the the CIA.

Unrelated: how is it that we are 18 comments in an no one mentioned the fact that Bob wrote "Kirk dies" instead of "Spoke dies"? I'm disappointed in you guys.

1. I've seen the spoiler he's talking about and I hate myself for it I really thought it wouldn't be so bad, since most of these huge spoilers are total bullshit or just that some character will make an appearance that we didn't know would be in the movie or some character will have a new costume.

I could see a civil war setup due to all the damage from the Ultron battle but it could also just cause a backlash against all the heroes and we could see all the avengers going into hiding.

2. This would be extremely awesome and WB does seem to like dark endings, but killing off a big name character would be risky and require some planning on WBs part and I don't think they have it planned out that far.

3. I don't know who Benedict Cumberbatch is and I don't have any invested interest in who plays DR. Strange

4. I could not care less about this slow motion trainwreck of a movie.

5. I so hope they are making a CAPTAIN Marvel, I don't really get why Bob thinks two movies with captain in the title would be problem, also naming it "girl superhero the movie" is way to obvious, throw in the old Ms. Marvel costume is way to impractical for a movie too. I think we will see a reference to her in GOTG but I think we'll see a DR. Strange post credit since his movie his movie will probably be next.

6. Pretty much a given maybe not in 7 but eventually, and I bet Luke will die too. Only question is if Han goes out in a blaze of glory or if Luke pulls an Obi Wan first. Leiah's probably the only one who will survive only because her death would have the smallest emotional effect of the original trio.

You know what I'm thinking, I think it'll be Luke who gets killed off in Ep 7. And since I can't help but notice that Bob is far from the only one 'calling' that Han will likely buy it I think killing Luke would not only be the more unexpected but the braver choice as well. Since the ending to 'Return of the Jedi' implied that all was right with the world now that Luke had become a Jedi and defeated the Emperor it would make it 100% clear that shit was well and truly still fucked if that rosy future from Ep6 was thrown into chaos by losing its centerpiece. It might also set up some version of Jacen Solo's arc from the EU, and give them a chance to do properly what they failed spectacularly to do with Anakin. Think about it, they bring in one or two hotshot new Jedi apprentices, one of whom is Jacen Solo, then in the big finale the man who is not only their kind and benevolent master but also THE ONLY JEDI MASTER IN THE GALAXY gets capped before he can teach them everything (sound familiar) now suppose we have two young Jedi introduced one to follow in the master's footsteps, and one to turn to the dark side due to lack of direction.

HA!
Bob figured it out too.
Ms. Marvel will BE "Ms. Marvel". None of this Captain nonsense yet.
Marvel doesn't skip steps, and, as Bob said 2 "Captain" titled movies won't happen, and with "Ms." beating Wonder Woman to the screen it's just ANOTHER huge blow to DC.

As for her being in Guardians Of The Galaxy....yea, probably.
Honestly, Ms. Marvel as the 3rd 2015 movie (Age Of Ultron and Ant-Man are too close together for there to not be a 3rd one) would make a TON of sense, continuing on the momentum of both Guardians Of The Galaxy AND Age Of Ultron, and building toward Avengers 3:Infinity Gauntlet.

-

Avengers team breaking apart at the end of Age Of Ultron? ....Eh. I doubt it.
I think they're going to have a lot on their plate in setting up everything ELSE in Infinity Gauntlet to the point where having to rewrangle the Avengers is just going to be extra complication.
Now Infinity Gauntlet breaking apart the team and THAT leads to Avengers 4 being Civil War...THAT I can see.

I just REALLY doubt Avengers 3 is going to be BOTH Infinity Gauntlet AND Civil War.

Civil War is too big to be a side story when all the heroes need to be united to fight Thanos, and if Captain America is going to be the big major death in Infinity Gauntlet because Crossbones assassinates him.....Thanos isn't going to be doing any dramatic hero killing to top that?
I just don't see it. Doesn't add up.
Best I can figure right now, the math adds up to RDJ needing a 2 movie contract extension, and Evans need 1 more.
Iron Man 4 to resolve the 3-movie long setup of the Mandarin, and Avengers 4:Civil War - in which Cap dies and Tony retires.
RDJ will probably do it if offered the money. Chris Evans agreeing to one more Avengers movie to close out Cap's story is the iffy part.

-

Cucumberpatch playing Doctor Strange? Yea. I'll buy that. Convinced? No. Not quite.

-

Already having cast Ms. Marvel? Eh... If she's in Guardians Of The Galaxy, yea, I guess so.
Annoyingly, that probably means they cast her sub-optimally and didn't get Katheryn Winnick to play her.
REALLY hoping they hold off on casting Ms. Marvel 'til they realize Winnick needs to play her.

Shredder as April's father? No.
Splinter as April's father? ...Maybe?

-

Superman dying in 'Goyer V Snyder:Dawn Of Bad Decisions'?
Sure. Why not?
Who cares?
Wouldn't surprise me.
Apparently Doomsday IS rumored to be in it...
I BARELY care more about this movie than the so-called "Fantastic Four" abomination that Fox is making.

1. Civil War would be boring as a movie. How many non comic readers would give a shit? It was great in comics if you read them for years, but in a movie universe it would suck. They could connect it with Thanos story in A3, but it wouldnt work - would people really rally for no masks when Thanos is doing his thing? Also they will disband, they said in the first movie they do their own thing and team up when a threat needs them. Its why they have been doing their own thing in their own movies set after Avengers.

2. Superman dying would be a shitty choice in a long line of terrible choices they have made for this movie. Lex wearing kyrptonite armour in BvS is dumb. Why would he have it? How would he even know its his weakness? Personally they should keep the green rock out of Superman for a while, ive always found it cheap and lazy. Also killing Superman just because you want the rest of JL relevant is a stupid reason - if he is going to be resurrected then that same issue is still there. Adding Doomsday is way to early as well, need to set up Superman in a few movies so we know he is the most powerful hero on the planet. Then Doomsday being a major threat would be earned and would make a great movie. Again, why are they rushing everything?

3. I like Cumberbatch, no idea if he would make a good Dr Strange.

4. Dont care. Why cant enemies just be enemies and the heroes are heroes. Why have connections and links between the groups? Just makes the movie world smaller.

5. Shrug.

6. Han dead. Luke and leia dead also. I predict they will all die in a suicide mission and the young cast get to continue as the lead.

Man Civil War wasn't great if you read comics...

I've thought Han was going to die in that movie for awhile. Harrison Ford really seems to despise Star Wars and talking about Star Wars, so outside of the truckloads of money he can add to his truckloads of money to do this movie, would be the absolute promise of never having to do it again.

Ieyke:
with "Ms." beating Wonder Woman to the screen it's just ANOTHER huge blow to DC.

You realize Wonder Woman's gonna be in BvS, right? And, if they are doing a Ms. Marvel film, it's not going be before Dr. Strange, Black Panther, or Thor 3, none of which have been assigned dates. It's not gonna be the next 2015 film, either; if they gave Captain America a 2016 slot, what makes you think they'd give friggin Ms. Marvel, a character that not even a ton of comic fans really care about, a 2015 slot? Why not She-Hulk, or one of the films I listed above?

And if you just mean that she'll beat Diana to a solo film, did you entirely forget about the leak reported and confirmed by large, reputable people and sites stating that among lots of other films, she's getting a movie July of 2017?

For real, what is with your blind hate for DC?

I don't really know if Cumberbatch is a good cast for Strange, but I know for certain it would be a smart cast! If Cumberbatch is Dr Strange, then you can be certain that every single tumblr user will put their asses in the theaters. That also opens up ther the possibility for Marvel to have a movie with both Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston; every single fan-girl in the world would faint, then immediately buy tickets to at least 10 screenings.

Also can't they just drop both Ms and Captain, and just call the movie "Marvel: [insert subtitle]"

- Wonder Woman having a minor part in Dawn Of Bad Decisions isn't a Wonder Woman movie.
- She's going to beat Black Panther to the screen.
- With War Machine and Falcon both being upgraded to the Avengers, Marvel's not so worried about Black Panther.
- Kevin Feige has said they're getting ready to do a superheroine movie and that he doesn't feel like a Black Widow spin-off would really count.
- Phase 3 is the Cosmic Phase. Ms. Marvel is one of the main Cosmic heroes.
- Ms. Marvel is pretty huge in the comics right now, and people are demanding the Ms. Marvel movie be announced.
Most people thought that that was what they were going to announce on 'The View'.
- Marvel already has the Ms. Marvel script completed and is building towards announcing her movie. Currently the most likely release slot is May 5 or July 27, 2017. Either before or after Thor 3.
- She-Hulk won't happen until after The Incredible Hulk 2, and then she'll probably get a TV/Netflix show.

WB/DC has made NOTHING but bad decisions for 6 years now, aside from Arrow, Flash, and the Batman Arkham games, which are weird little miracles.
Like, I literally have a list.
A long list.
A list of all the stupid shit they'e done.
TONS of it relates directly to Goyer V Snyder:Dawn Of Bad Decisions.

- Just because it's not a Wonder Woman movie doesn't mean she beats Carol to the silver screen
- What does Falcon and WM have to do with Black Panther? Is it because they're black? That's not why Marvel would be worried about doing a BP movie.
- How is Phase 3 the cosmic phase? The only movies we have confirmed for Phase 3 are Ant-Man, Cap 3, Dr. Strange, and Avengers 3 (most likely). None of those are cosmic films.
- Just because a character is popular in the comics doesn't make them instantly popular in the movies. If you haven't noticed, comic sales haven't increased due to films.
- May or July 2017 is around the same time WW should come out. That's not a big damn deal. The movie will have been finished by then; Warner Bros isn't going to be shitting themselves because a B-list female character's movie came out a month before Wonder Woman. IT'S WONDER WOMAN. It's gonna make more money and be more successful than Ms. Marvel.

Plus, how do you know all this stuff? You seem to be pulling it out of your ass. There are *way* more heroes that are going to get films before Ms. Marvel. We've heard about them.

Saying that WB/DC has done nothing but make bad decisions is so incredibly... how do I even put this...
It seems that you're saying that no matter what DC does, they make a wrong move. Since you include TV shows and video games, I'm assuming you mean across the board. What about animation? DC has been the king of animation since the 90s. Marvel's put out a few X-Men cartoons, Spectacular Spider-Man and that one Hulk vs film, but other than that, their animation is pure shit.
In terms of comics, they're on level footing. For every bad choice DC makes, Marvel makes one just as bad. For every great new book that comes out of Marvel, DC gets a great new ongoing as well.
For TV, DC is MILES ahead of Marvel. Sure, they've got all the Netfilx series, which look AWESOME, but those aren't until next year. This upcoming season, there'll be four DC shows on TV, all of which have gotten good reviews thus far. Marvel will have two, one of which is regarded as being a massive disappointment by everyone except diehard slobbering MCU fans.
And in terms of film, back in 2005, when Batman Begins was released (by the way, how bad were *those* decisions?) WB/DC didn't know that the whole connected universe superhero thing would be as big as it is today. They were focused on making a great, solid trilogy, and by the time it was over, Marvel was way ahead. DC release Man of Steel, which, other than having a terrible script, was a good film. Better than anything Marvel had made at that point except for Captain America, IMO. Batman v Superman looks to be very promising. They've got a two-time Oscar winner on board, and the writer of the Best Picture winner of 2012 doing the script. The biggest flaw of MoS is being resolved, and they're just adding good things. You're blinded by your love of Marvel and strange hatred for DC that I honestly don't understand.

Oh, it'd just take waaaay too long to fill you in on everything you've obviously missed.
But yea, you should look into researching some stuff. Look into the actual details, especially, before you start making assumptions.

The devil is in the details.

I want the Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. version of Captain Marvel. Played by Gina Torres.

I'm not going to get it, but I can dream.

Zontar:
@Darth_Payn, S.H.I.E.L.D. is being rebuilt. S.W.O.R.D. already exists in the MCU, and it's function is pretty clear: they handle outer space stuff. Maybe because it's Spock that dies? :)

As for S.W.O.R.D I had would have bet good money that Agents was setting us up for Victoria Hand running the organisation as an autonomous body following the collapse of S.H.I.E.L.D. Think about it, she got more character development than practically any other character outside of the main cast, they had her played by Saffron Burrows, probably the most high profile actor in the show (excluding cameos) after Clark Gregg and maybe Bill Paxton, and her and Coulson had that great "Now we're the only ones left moment". That said I am not ruling her out completely, as the end of season one gave a pretty big hint that Life Model Decoys may walk among us, and thus the events of Turn, Turn, Turn might not have been as final as we had thought.

Just my crazy fan theory but I do think the character was too good to waste.

MarsAtlas:

Also, I'm hoping that they'd ditch the "Ms." for "Captain" by the second Captain Marvel movie. They've gotta do it for at least one, but I would hope that they just let the character and the film speak for itself.

Well it would probably have to be the 3rd, because in the first you are going to have Captain Mar-vel, the alien, who inspires Carol Danvers to become a superhero (and accidentally grants her her powers), and so in the 2nd one she won't want to create confusion between herself and the Kree alien. Then by the 3rd, Mar-vel will probably go back to his home planet and Danvers can officially take up the monicker.

The rumors of a Kree invasion happening in Phase 3 makes PERFECT sense when you factor in Ms. Marvel.

First Ms. Marvel movie:
- I figure Captain Mar-Vell shows up as a Kree spy/scout who has been undercover as a S.W.O.R.D.scientist, and has been covertly studying Earth for the Kree while becoming Earth-friendly in the process.
- Carol Danvers is an Air Force Major assigned to S.W.O.R.D. operations and is friends with Mar-Vell's scientist form.
- The Kree invasion comes to Earth. Mar-Vell reveals himself and tries to stop the invasion.
- Carol Danvers is sent to battle the Kree as part of the S.W.O.R.D. defense force.
- Something happens to Mar-Vell as he tries to stand between the Kree and Earth militaries, and his powers get transferred into Carol.
- Carol gets her Ms. Marvel powers and becomes Ms. Marvel.
- Ms. Marvel defeats Ronan The Accuser, the Kree capture the traitor, Mar-Vell, and they leave, swearing to return to conquer Earth later.

2nd Ms. Marvel movie:
- Ms. Marvel does....*insert adventures here*.

3rd movie:
- Ms. Marvel somehow once again encounters the Kree, and discovers where they're holding Captain Mar-Vell - attempting to get info about Earth out of him.
- She attempts to rescue Mar-Vell, only to have him seemingly die when she finally reaches him.
- She takes the name Captain Marvel in his honor.

Xth movie: The Muslim teen, Kamala Khan, find herself with superpowers and takes the name Ms. Marvel in honor of her hero Ms./Captain Marvel - setting the young actress up to be the successor to Carol Danvers' actress whenever her contract expires. Maybe by then Marvel will have the X-Men rights back and the MCU Rogue can steal Carol's powers - knocking her out of the picture and leaving Khan to take over?

-

Also, I echo any and all reluctance to believe Agents Of SHIELD killed off Victoria Hand in such a throwaway way.
Had to be an LMD.

let me throw my 2 cents in on this Ms/Captain Marvel thing. As for the movie, it's coming. Marvel and superhero movies in general have been very white maley and they need to get a female led movie out there (black widow will never get her own movie and that's how it should be). the problem is that they need to get a black led superhero movie out there just as bad. i personally think that they will do panther first then marvel just because we've heard more whispers about it. as for what she should be called, i'm going with ms for a few reasons. 1) she owes her powers to mar-vell. 2) she calls herself marvel to honor mar-vell and didn't take the captain title for the longest just for that reason. 3) if thanos is the main bad guy, we need a mar-vell in avengers 3 since he's like thanos's superman. in a perfect world, we would get a ms. marvel movie than a mar-vell movie showing how he gets the title captain.

Feige and Scarlett Johannson have both said they're trying to do a Black Widow movie, but they just don't know how they want to do it yet.
So it may very well happen at some point. Just not soon.

Ms. Marvel fits into the Cosmic Phase 3 PERFECTLY, and can directly carry on the Cosmic foundations laid down by Guardians Of The Galaxy.

The CONSTANT Ms. Marvel movie announcement rumors, the rumors of Ms. Marvel castings, the fact that the Ms. Marvel script is completed and waiting to go, the rumors of a Kree invasion movie in Phase 3, the history of Carol Danvers accidentally becoming Ms. Marvel during a battle when the Kree come to Earth, the major Kree characters already seen in Guardians Of The Galaxy trailers (Korath, Ronan), the dead Kree on Agents Of SHIELD, the introduction of the Kree created Inhumans on Agents Of SHIELD, the fact that the Kree in GotG are seemingly hunting the same artifact as Thanos, and the fact that the end of Phase 3 will be Avengers 3:Infinity Gauntlet....
It all adds up PRETTY clearly to it being the Kree-powered heroine's turn.

Black Panther, by contrast has very little to go on.
Avengers:Age Of Ultron MIGHT visit Wakanda (a fairly safe guess based on the assumption that South Africa is somehow Wakanda, and Ultron's general desire for vibranium will lead him to T'Chaka's vibranium mound), and the Black Panther script is likewise complete and shelved, ready to go when a release slot opens up.
But that's about it.
No rumors of announcements, casting, associated plot ideas, nothin'....

In ALL probability, Ms. Marvel's most likely release slot is May 5 or July 27, 2017. Either before or after Thor 3.
Assuming the pattern (one sequel, one new property) holds,it'll be July 27,2014 - after Thor 3. A year after Doctor Strange.

IF we assume that Phase 3 will be 6 movies long (Phase 1=6 movies over 4 years, Phase 2=5 movie over 3 years), the third November film of 2017 will be the "Avengers 3: Infinity Gauntlet" movie. However, that makes Phase 3 only 2.5 years long - making the Avengers movies pretty cramped, and not leaving a lot of space to set up all the various characters for Avengers 3.
AND that would eliminate Black Panther from being in Phase 3.
HOWEVER, Avengers movies, thus far, always come out in May.
The next SUMMER release date is July of 2018.
The next MAY release date is May 2019.
I think it's safe to assume Avengers 3 WILL be a summer movie, so that leaves November 2017 open POSSIBLY for a Black Panther movie.
IF we assume Avengers always comes out in May, that leaves November 2017, July 2018, and November 2018 all as POSSIBLE slots for Black Panther.
IF they stick religiously to the "one sequel, one new" pattern, that eliminates November 2017 for Black Panther, and would place the Black Panther movie in July 2018. The November 2017 slot is, however, unique. It's the only time they've ever done 3 movies per year. I don't know if they'll hold to the "one sequel, one new" pattern with 3 movies per year...

IF I were to predict the entirety of Phase 3, I'd say that THIS is the most likely:

That would make Phase 3 pretty HUGE, but given the nature of the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, and the rumors of the Civil War storyline, there's a LOT to set up. So. *shrug*

The second most likely would be:
