I have always said this and I have always meant this- I would pay for Cave Story, hell I would buy more then one if I could! This is one of those rare freeware games (Along with I Wanna Be The Guy) that really needed to have been released commercially. This game is truly a technical marvel, it WAS just made by one guy, by himself with no help from others, and the simple fact is that this game has a very big cult following that have been clamoring for this game to get licensed by someone. I really don't hope I come across as a fanboy but you know what? I am, I'm a fanboy of good games and it is a travesty that it has taken so long for this game to get an official release! I will be buying this game when it is released and I will definitely be recommending this game to others. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1098 Joined: 18 Feb 2009 | This is an interesting bit of news. Itīs good to know Pixel is still up and at it. Cave Story is one of the best, if not the best, freeware indie game I have come acrosse. Although, I am bit of an old-school purist, and as such have my doubts. Not meaning to be pessimistic here, oh no. I hope this project turns out well, since more players ought to have a chance to try this gem out. Development team at least seems to be pouring all the love they have into this. The possibility to switch back to the old school graphics and audio is all that is needed to keep me from whining. Actually, considering I donīt even own a Wii, I shouldnīt care. Nevertheless, the news in here for me was that Cave Story is still very much alive, and Pixel doing fine. |

Cave Story isn't a JRPG by any counts. It's an action-shooter-platformer. Also, didn't I hear something a while back about Cave Story getting ported to the PSP? |

Well, I know it's not a jrpg as such, but artistically it's Japanese enough that somebody who dislikes jrpgs for being Japanese in several senses might not like it. And yes, it's been ported to psp, it's at http://cavestorypsp.googlepages.com . |

Do you know if I would have to have a cracked PSP to play that? I don't have one, and don't plan to crack it at any time, just so you know. |

Wait, he dislikes Japanese things just for being Japanese and he owns a Wii? On-topic, I will definitely download this. I've already played it on PC, but I am extremely willing and even eager to pay for it. Updated look, audio and some DLC thrown into the mix? Yes please! |

He's schizophrenic that way. He likes the two extremes of tone and absolutely nothing in the middle. That is to say, it has to be gaggingly silly or Evangelion (which is the only anime he'll watch). |

Yes, you need a cracked PSP to play it. *downloads PSP version* |

Ah, well then in that case I won't be getting it. The one time a friend of mine tried to crack his PSP (note that this guy was extremely technologically proficient) it bricked the entire thing permanently. |

Ditto. I own three retail Wii games: Okami, purchased because the price dropped to $20, which I figure is worth it for the Wii port, imperfect as it may be. On the other hand, the first game I purchased for the Wii was World of Goo, and that was rapidly followed Orbient, Rotohex, and Gyrostarr, and Lit is my next purchase. I'm also tempted by Space Invaders Strike Back, and Maboshi's Arcade. And of course, Cave Story I'll buy on release day. While I don't own a 360, I've also found that the titles that most intrigue me for that console are primarily XBLA offerings, Braid, The Maw, Rez HD, and I'm sure there at least a few others that escape recall at the moment. And PSN is offering Flower and Noby Noby Boy. I guess retail is already dead for some of us. |

I don't have a Wii here but honestly I do find a lot of the independent games having what I want in a game then any retail game that has tons of hours in it just to make a billion-polygoned character walk across a floor. |

I assum you'll just hold the Wiimote sideways. 1 to shoot, 2 to jump, D-pad to move, + and - to switch weapons. |

Hmm, I really do hope it at least makes use of SOME of the motion sensing controlls. |
Muckraker Posts: 317 Joined: 5 Feb 2009 | I guess the Z button would be for the Menu then. Or whatever the button under the controller is called. |

"After dying for the 100th time in the secret level, shake your wiimote furiously to get a soothing message from Pixel" - that kind of thing? It'd be really awesome to see some of Cave Story mods or fan-made levels\bosses adapted for DLC. A man can have his pipe dreams, can't he? |
