Yes. If it's true it'll be about the only FPS that isn't a sci-fi or a war in ages.
Redneck Rampage? | |
Would be a tera-bad idea for blizz to make this. I guess, though, that they can afford it with their infinite WoW money.
WTF are they doing making some redneck game all available resources should be put towards Diablo III (ya that's right I used roman numerals wanna fight about it)
Unless all of their staff got replaced by rednecks I doubt they going to make this game...
Hmmm, Redneck Rampage would be a bad idea for them. It's something might work for Rockstar, but not a company like Blizzard. What they should focus on is bringing the Lost Vikings back instead. I miss those games.
True | |
Hahahahaha, Redneck Rampage, I haven't heard of that game in ages. Man, who came up with this rumor? It's awesome, this time I really laughed out loud.
Ever since I watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I have been so afraid of them. DOWN WITH THE REDNECKS. I dunno, maybe playing this game wil turn me into a psycopath who goes on a rampage and shoots down a whole trailer park. Only time will tell.
Honestly its hard to make an FPS that is not in a war or in a sci-fi setting. Usually people dont go around shooting at everything that moves, so game makers have to create a setting for the senseless shooting that are FPS games.
I don't think you could make a game like Redneck Rampage today, judging by the title alone.
Why is Blizzard starting a new game, anyway? Aren't they still busy working on Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2? I'm just curious how big of a development staff they have when they're already being split between those two games and whoever they can spare for Warcraft.
Well, at least they're familiar with the Redneck stereotype. The Terran are pretty much as close as you can get. Heck, that one cutscene with the zergling is pretty much two rednecks shooting the breeze. Still, I can't say I'm happy. I mean, jeez, Blizzard has a certifiable genius like Chris Metzen to write their stories and what are they doing with that genius? They're revitalizing "Redneck Rampage." I wish this was one IP that Interplay had held onto.
Ye Haw! we goin' have ourselves a rooting tooting howdown mowdown!....or something. To be honest I don't think blizzard would be doing this, I doubt theres much money to be made from this -_-
...Let me get this straight: Do I get to kill rednecks? 'Cause if yes, I'm all for this game.
oh wow! you used roman numerals! and even the most know of them: 1, 2, 3 you must be, like, smart or something.
5 days late on this one. | |
It's both, I think. Rednecks killing rednecks. Also it's not been CONFIRMED that this is the case, yet, just a suspicion.
I think they're doing all this simultanious development so they can meet with Activisions demands for "one frontline title a year". Blizzard tends to put 5 yrs between releases. So... Starcraft 2 (parts 1, 2, and 3), Diablo 3, World of Warcraft, MMORPG Mystery Project, and now this.
Actually, as far as I recall, Redneck Rampage, despite the awkward title isn't actually a bad game, although a little off kilter with regards to it's humour. I think some of you should at least play the original game (or at least youtube it) if you haven't.
Sounds like shit. | |
The Next Blizzard Hit: Redneck Rampage?
There's been a lot of speculation about the unannounced mystery game Blizzard may or may not be working on but I don't think too many people expected this: Word on the street is that it might just be a new Redneck Rampage game.
Rumors about a new Blizzard game started swirling in late March when the company posted two job openings for software engineers on its website, promising a ground-floor entry on a team working on a "brand new project." An "inside source" at Blizzard said the position was for none of the company's known franchises, including the next-gen MMOG it currently has in development.
Now it's come to light, via IncGamers, that the rights to the 1997 mouth-breathing FPS Redneck Rampage, originally developed by Xatrix and published by Interplay, are in the hands of Blizzard, and that a handful of current Blizzard employees, including Wrath of the Lich King and Burning Crusade Senior Producer Alex Mayberry, also worked on the Redneck Rampage games. Put it all together and the truth becomes obvious: Blizzard is working on a new Redneck Rampage FPS!
Or maybe not. As Big Download notes, Interplay sold the Redneck Rampage rights in 2004 to Vivendi Games, Blizzard's original parent. When Vivendi and Activision merged last year, those rights naturally transferred to the newly-formed entity, Activision Blizzard, the "real" holder of the rights to the title.
What does it all mean? Essentially, that nobody really has any idea what's actually happening at Blizzard. Is it working on a secret new franchise? Possibly. Is it Redneck Rampage? Also possible, although probably somewhat less so. Blizzard isn't saying anything, of course, so at this point wild speculation will have to suffice. And while it's amusing as a rumor, what if it turns out to be true? The idea of a new Blizzard franchise has tremendous appeal but is Redneck Rampage really what we're looking for?
