This thing is so damn full of fail... Oh my god.
Snap! That thing looks nice. Watching the crappy movies might not be so bad on that screen, it looks a fair bit bigger. plus the setup in general just looks more condusive to gaming. Now all they need are some really good games to make me care...
Meh, everyone suspected as much already. It was one of those rumors that I didn't even come close to doubting.
Care to elaborate? It sure looks like a better upgrade than the DSi...
That looks horrible. Like they're ripping off the Game Boy Advance SP or whatever it was called.
Heh, can you say the worst kept secret since Diablo III? Even the damn mockups of it were pretty much right on the mark. But boy does that thing look uncomfortable. I'd probably rather get another PSP2000 than touch one of those.
I just think it plain looks ugly and uncomfortable. And all of the features they're pushing for it can be done by my PSP 1000 (the movie rentals, game downloads, etc). I think I just find it dumb theres no second analogue nubby. Could've been like the PSX days, all games ship with 2 control schemes. Or at least map the left/right triggers to the nubby so we can get some decent camera control in a JRPG for once... EDIT:
Another device for the DS to demolish, woot!
I'll truly believe it until I officially see it because all I gotta say is "WHY SONY...WHY". As cool as the concept is it's unnecessary at this time. It better damn well still support UMD's, oh and cue second analog stick whiners in 3...2...
Too true, decent games would probably be a nice bribe.
I beat you to it :). (The whining that is) Also, theres no UMD Drive. I wonder if Sony will ever drop pricing on their digitally distributed games (HA!).
Sweet good lord. That is the most sacreligiously ugly thing I have ever seen. I hate PSP's anyway.
It looks good, but what would I do with it now that I am bored with Chains of Olympus.
Someone's gonna get fired...
That looks a whole lot like a cell phone, you know on of the ones that slide open. Well in any case I still won't get one, I prefer My DS Lite.
I still think that the original concept for the 'PSP 2' was better. Looked a bit like a phone but I like it much better than this.
I was hoping to buy a PSP soon. Oh well. :(
Wow! Could Sony actually be making a handheld that is meant for, dare I say it, for games?!?!
Too bad there's no fucking second analog stick. I love Sony but this is just idiotic.
Patapon and Locoroco. Then you can sell it.
Well if this is true (like I said I will believe it when I SEE it, yea I'm one stubborn skeptic) they better not stop UMD production because I fucking hate digital only BS. Although i have no doubt in my mind that they will just stick with the while digital AND UMD distribution...then I have no qualms with SONY. I like to physically own my games, and I don't wanna spend money on memory sticks (16gigs can hold MOST of my collection at least) AND games.
I knew it was only a matter of time before one of you people showed up...*shakes head*
They said in the video they are not stopping production of UMD nor the PSP 3k which plays them.
Hang on... are there no new hardware upgrades, does it play the same games?
I dunno. The way it's shaped makes me think it'd hold like a SNES controller. I guess the real question is how topheavy it is... that could really suck. But I imagine it's probably pretty light.
I just think it needs a better name and it damn well better have a long battery life. Other than that they are giving a nice package overall. They are relying on their PSN for users to buy games and the hand held has internal memory to prevent people from having memory cards because only sony and sony-ericcson supports their pro duo format.
Hm...that looks alot like a new phone. Just with the PlayStation buttons. The screen, though, looks much bigger...so long as the whole thing didn't just get smaller.
It looks well-designed, if nothing else. Now let's just hope that it gets some cool games.
Why in the name of all Japan is it not a clamshell? Surely it's obvious to those over paid dolts at Sony that the screen on that thing is going to get obliterated. I mean they've four years experience with the PSP already. Having said that the inclusion of a hold button's interesting, maybe increased use as an mp3 player? I still think it's bad piece of design though.
And you said it wouldn't be real... No it won't support UMDs, but developers don't like them, so all they have to do now is compile the game into a .PBP executable, so there may be more games for the PSP in the future
But I've always thought that the PSP is better than the DS, and I love my little red block of fun. The main reason the DS gets more sales is that it attracts a wider market of casual gamers, which was actually a good marketing strategy on Nintendo's part.
The 'Hold' button's been on there since the 1000 model, it's what freaking broke my PSP (it kept thinking that the Hold switch was on)
One thing I'd be willing to accept is if there was some means to allow UMD owners to legally make images of their games to put on the device. Hell I'd buy it if it was cheap and sony came with a means of UMD conversion. I'd still have my 2000 as a back up and my UMD's as back ups as well. I will admit it would be rather convenient to have all your games on you memory sticks/internal memory for on the go purposes and have your UMD's sitting at home just in case.
Oh please! Why does Sony keep trying!? They know DS is more popular, advanced, and better. I hope that rumor of Microsoft buying out Sony comes true.
The PsP has no good games, what to do?
That is so mind boggling false I can't even believe it has been posted on the interweb much less believed.

PSP Is Go!
An prematurely released episode of Sony's gaming show Qore has revealed a new member of the PlayStation family, the PSP Go.
Someone is going to be in some pretty big trouble at Sony HQ as an episode of their gaming show Qore was released early, full of delicious truths that Sony weren't quite ready to share. The biggest revelation? A new PSP, called the PSP Go. While the episode of Qore was rapidly pulled, it was already too late, as it had made it on to YouTube.
The YouTube video is also no longer with us sadly, but the right people saw it and the details made it out and a little digging from interested parties threw up some product shots as well.
The PSP Go has a large sliding screen, covering a D-Pad, an analogue nub-thing, and the traditional four PlayStation face buttons. Also included are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capability and up to 16Gb of flash memory. In my humble opinion, it's the best looking PSP yet. Heck, it might be the best looking PlayStation device in general, I mean I loved my PS2, but she sure was ugly!
Expect to see more details on the PSP Go soon, quite possibly next week at E3.
