Sony says that because of security concerns it will not be offering Trophy support on the PSP.
Eric Lempel, Sony's director of PlayStation Network operations, put it very simply: "You're not going to see Trophies on the PSP," he said last week. Despite advances in its ongoing efforts against piracy, including the upcoming PSP Go which will download games directly from the PSN Store, Sony apparently has concerns that gamers will eventually come up with ways to manipulate their rankings and Trophies.
"If people can inflate their rankings and amounts of Trophies" across a shared Trophy system, it "kills the whole system," Lempel said, including the PlayStation 3. Sony's priority is "keeping it secure, keeping it fair," he added, and the only way to ensure that is to eliminate Trophies on the PSP.
As Develop points out, each iteration of the PSP has been successfully hacked and piracy on the system is rampant. But this decision may be more about the PlayStation 3 and ensuring its Trophy system isn't compromised than about the PSP itself; in that light it could also be seen as a tacit admission that despite its new design, Sony still has concerns that the PSP Go will be vulnerable to exploitation.
No big deal my psp get played usually 15 minutes at a time on the road to here or waiting for class etc etc. same thing with my DS so I never really get into them enough to care about trophies. Only sat down and really played a couple of games like ff crisis core and ratchet and clank games but usually just play it to have fun passing time till I can get home to my PS3 Xbox or PC.
To me the PSP is Dead no new one is going to change that.
Because 50 million units sold is dead. Because 35 games set to come within a few months, 10 of which are all high-octane games is dead. Because, well, people are still stuck in 2006, late 2007 or so at the latest.

Your such a hypocrite. *Points to first post*
That was directed at people making a mountain out of a molehill from the achievements mainly, not the PSP itself (though no doubt it's going to turn out that way anyway). While I might have sounded a bit riled up, it's just annoying to see the same thing said over and over again about the PSP when it's just not true anymore.
TECHNICALLY, Resistance: Retribution DID have in-game achievements for online play... But i guess it's balanced out with the amount of hackers online. Damn though, it did feel nice getting the "Get 50 Assist Kills" achievement.
Wait... so they're not going to include Trophies because some people will find a way to hack and unlock them all? Why bother even making games then? You know that someone is just going to find a way to hack the game, so you might as well not release them.
Yet another example of the legit customers being screwed-over in some futile attempt to take a shot at piracy/hacking. :/ (( Not that I own, or plan to own, a PSP. But I'd be feeling rather jilted if I did. ))
Pfft..OH NOES I DONTZ GET SHINY TROPHIEZ ON MAH PSP!?! I'll live, I never gave a damn about such hollow and insignificant things. My sense of achievement comes from playing the damn game, not from some utterly stupid instant satisfaction cop out that devs are compelled to throw in. As long as I get to play my games I'm happy.
Hell some PSP games have unlockables which may as well count as achievement given the way you acquire them.

*facepalm* do you know how stupid that sounds right about now. Such a stupid statement can be applied to any other game/system, please think a little harder before saying something to that degree.
Shame, I quite fancied being able to boost my trophies while Im out and about. Still wont put me off getting a PSP:Go though, the E3 trailer won me over the second I saw it.
sunami88: Meh, would've been nice but I don't think anyone will be losing any sleep over this. Trophies are pretty lame...
Wait, there are trophies in games? LOL, just kidding, seriously tho in the end they serve a decorative purpose, a nice thing but to be frank I never even thought about them on either the PS3 or PSP

*WHOOOSH!!!*
Did'ja hear that? It was the point of my post whizzing over your head. Though judging by your first comment in that post, I wouldn't expect you to get what I was saying.
It's a shame the PSP isn't going to be getting trophies. For many, trophies extend the life of a game you play through once, like Prince of Persia. Why would I want to go back and play it a second time? For others, like me, I find great satisfaction in multiplayer achievements/trophies. For example, 100,000 kills. It doesn't mean anything, it's just something I like to see.

No Trophies for PSP
