That is truly pathetic! I thought it would have been easier to do on PC to be honest though, so they coulda just bumped the game back, THEN brought it out!
It's probably more of a money than time problem.
*mumbles something about it being a good move to encourage massive piracy for the PC version*
It probably had something to do with the control schemes as well. Pc players do have a big advantage because of the mouse/keyboard configuration. Therefore the game would become unbalanced.
So I have to ask the question. What is in the multiplayer? Versus deathmatch? Co-op campaign mode? If the multiplayer isn't good then I won't feel bad missing out. Although this would of been a game that would of been great multiplayer...or a sequel.
When I first saw the commercial for GhostBusters, I thought to myself, "L4D with ghosts instead of zombies."
"Well, what we're basically saying is that we felt that the console users were more important than you! No hard feelings, right?" Jackass.
Something to keep in mind: The PC version is half the price of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. If the only thing it lacks compared to them is the multiplayer, that's a pretty good deal.
Doesn't that apply for all games on the PC? At least in Sweden they're all WAY cheaper than their console versions..
But it still feels like a nice kick in the stomach and I don't think they are going to add multiplayer later on via a patch (at least not a free one)
Id say thats annoying, but id never have bought this on the PC neway so doesnt bother me. If they had to make a choice, they made the right one from a business perspective at least.
Won't buy it, won't download. It seems just like a cash-in game riding on the fame of movie series. But if they even say a word about people pirating their game, someone will need to drop a bucket of lead on their heads.
Wow, now that is pathetic. Zero reason to buy it over pirating on the pc. Nicely done.
My sentiments exactly.
And people wonder why PC gamers hate the consolers.
Also, don't forget that for Europe atleast, Ghostbusters is a timed exclusive to the PS3 I believe, because Sony got hold of the publishing rights here. So Piracy of the PC version is going to be pretty insane anyway, since the "exclusive" window could be 6 months if not more.
oh dear nevermind SF4 is a far more interesting release
They didn't explain a thing. They just spewed a bunch of PR BS.
Nevermind just play the soon to be released street fighter 4 instead
It is half price on the PC. This actually makes me prefer the PC version. Frankly, I'm way more interested in the part of the game that is, essentially, the 3rd movie. Every game in the world seems to be dead set on tacking on some sort of multiplayer, when it would be better to focus on the high quality single player experience. So my PC Elitism is a little pissed, but generally Im getting a good deal here. Ill buy the game someday, and it will be much cheaper. Possibly much much cheaper if the game bombs on the PC and becomes bargain priced very soon. As long as its not a sloppy port job, i'm pretty happy with this. And if a patch comes along to add multiplayer later, allowing me more options in how I buy the game, so much the better.
Well, I'm not buying it until it has MP support on the PC. So, as long as they can wait on the revenue, I'm cool with it. Morne
I have a while until I'll be able to get this game anyway, so if the PC Multiplayer is patched-in later, I'm cool with it. I'll be disappointed though if they do in fact have no plans to do so. :/ Also, am I the only one who thinks that the picture used for the article would've been 10x more fitting if Stay Puft was edited to be flipping the bird (to the un-pictured PC-gaming crowd)?
Thanks for a short game with no replay value. My upcoming article: "PC gamer explains why Ghostbuster dev can blow him"
/thread Dumb move | |
The game is $30 on Steam and $60 on console. So that would be $30 for tuned down visuals and multiplayer at I would never use. I will stick with PC thank you very much.
I couldn't even get the game for PC if I wanted to. Something about Sony making it PS3 exclusive in Europe... Wait. Just checked - Tilt.fi has it for sale for PC over here. For 45 euros, making that roughly 20 dollars more expensive than in the States?
I just saw it over at a friend's, the multiplayer is kinda boring.
I've heard two things today from the developers today that made me realize how god-awful they are at making games. 1. They originally intended to make the PS3 version look the best, but failed to do so. 2. They originally intended to add PC multiplayer, but failed to do so. What next, they originally intended to make the game fun, but failed to do so?
Lets be honest with ourselves it is a cheap console port nothing more nothing less. I personally never thought about getting it on PC even though it is cheaper mostly because when they port from console the controls tend to blow hard.
At least these developers are honest about it; unlike EPIC when they 'port' their poop.
This is just a pathetic excuse for atari to go yelling "this is why drm involving several sticks of c4 in the box is necessary".
If there is less game, will it cost less money, if not then GTFO
This. Though here in Belgium, PC games are 50-55 euro's, current gen console games are 65-70 euro's. And for all I know they could just see the current price deficit as good enough for having spent less time in it. They should release it midprice (30 euro's... still more than what a US resident pays for a current gen console game in their country. Sigh.) here or something in order to not invoke my rage (not that I'd buy it anyway)

Ghostbusters Dev Explains Lack of PC Multiplayer
The CEO of one of the studios behind Ghostbusters: The Video Game says the PC release has no multiplayer because developers wanted to focus on making the console versions of the game "the best that they could be."
The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the new Ghostbusters game feature online multiplayer action that runs independently of the single-player storyline, but the PC edition is single-player only. According to Dan Irish, CEO of Threewave, the studio that developed the multiplayer component, the decision was made to cut PC multiplayer in order to focus on the console side of the coin.
"Multiplayer for the PC version of Ghostbusters is something that Threewave and Terminal Reality always wanted to do," Irish said in a statement. "However, our focus was on making the console version the best that they could be - an experience that allows multiple players to re-live and re-fight many of the themes from the movies."
"When we looked at the resources necessary to pull off multiplayer on the consoles and the PC, it became a question of what could we do and still be excellent in our execution," he continued. "We couldn't do all versions with multiplayer simultaneously with the resources that we had available - there was simply too much to do. Something would have to suffer. Therefore, we kept our focus on making the console versions deliver on the promise of being an integral player on the Ghostbusters team."
It's difficult to read "making the console versions deliver" without also seeing, crammed in there between the lines, "We don't much care if the PC version delivers or not." But it's possible that Terminal Reality and Threewave aren't just casually throwing PC gamers under the bus; patching in multiplayer support at some point in the future would presumably be simpler for the PC than any of the other platforms. There's been no indication yet from Atari that it has any plans to do so, however, so maybe I'm just being irrationally optimistic.
