Shia LaBeouf Slams the Wii

image

Transformers star Shia LaBeouf is a fan of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but had some rather harsh words for the Wii recently, dismissing it as an "amateur console."

As well as providing his voice for the Activision videogame based on the new movie, LaBeouf, a self-described gamer, also offered feedback on the original Transformers movie game, one result of which is the new online gameplay available in the sequel. Many of the updates and improvements in the second movie will also be visible in the videogame, so it "should be a better game," he said, but he admitted that he wasn't familiar with the Wii version of the game and had no plans to become so in the future.

"I haven't been able to play the Wii game because my hand is broken. I've just been playing Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3," he said in an interview with Big Download. "I would imagine that the Wii experience will be like... I don't mess with the Wii, to be honest with you. It's kind of an amateur console. I'm not into the Wii thing."

"This is how in a simple way you can find out if it's a gamer you want to play with," he added. "Ask them if they have a Wii. If they say yes, get the f--k out of there."

That's a bit overly judgmental for my liking but it's possible that LaBeouf is just that hardcore. How hardcore is he? He said he's a big fan of Sid Meier's Civilization and that he sings Super Mario Bros. themes to himself in the shower. And in case there was any lingering doubt, he claimed that he refused to play LEGO Star Wars with Megan Fox on the set of Transformers 2 because he doesn't like the game. "Who wants to play the Wii version of LEGO Star Wars?" he asked. "I'd rather eat glass."

Man. He's a bit of a bigotted fan-boy isn't he >.>

Well everybody is entitled to their opinion and we shouldn't be too harsh on him just because he doesn't like it, even though he is overreacting (once again) he is entitled to his opinion.

I wouldn't say so, he just doesn't like the Wii... I don't like it and I'm not a fanboy.

But he assisted in the murder of both Transformers and Indiana Jones! Why do we care what he thinks?

Douche has a new dictionary defintion: Shia LeBeouf.

Touché.

I'm not too big of a Wii fan, but this is kinda... eh, maybe he just got swept away in the moment.

I think that might have some consequences in the future.

Anyways, when I saw the title, I thought: Pwn'd!

The Wii isn't THAT BAD. Its just that it wasn't really made for hardcore gamers.

Though it's odd. It seems like he's not hardcore.

Shia LeBeouf = Who?

I find it kind of funny. I'm a pretty hardcore gamer myself and even I own a Wii.

I just don't turn it on very often.

This will not end well...

Me to.

Indiana Jones' son.

Isn't he the guy out of Yugioh The abridged? :P

Didn't he admit to having an alcohol problem in the new Parade? I mean, not that I'm saying one thing effects another, but... Honestly, I don't mind him denouncing the Wii. I think he's wrong about calling it "amateur," because it's clearly not, but yes, I don't particularly care for it either.

Also, Shia, as a male gamer, you have an obligation to not portray our demographic poorly to Megan Fox. Or any other woman, for that matter. You have failed in that obligation.

I don't care about Shia or what he thinks about the Wii
*goes to play Punch-Out*

O shut up Shai. You were on a crappy kids show for like 4 years.

A bit of an overreaction, perhaps. But he may be on to something...

I think that playing Lego: Star Wars with Megan Fox is less about playing Lego: Star Wars with Megan Fox and more about playing Lego: Star Wars with Megan Fox. Then again, he's worked with her before.

Either way, it's Shia freakin' LaBeouf. Who cares what he says? He was only good in Holes. After that it was the same role over and over again. It's like he has Nicholas Cage sindrome.

A little over the top but hey he's human he's entitled to an opinion like every one else.

Hahaha, Shia Labeouf! I like the kid, simply because he's an actor I can relate to even if he is a prick sometimes. We're all pricks sometimes aren't we?

Side note: Dude, why would you not want to play Lego Star Wars with Megan Fox?

Megan Fox isn't into men so he's safe

Exactly, the Wii has become my most expensive paper weight that I am currently trying to offload.

he hates them so much yet he has never played on one? OK then

Im a Wii owner and i bet that A) im a better actor then you and B) that i could easily own you at any modern FPS that the 360 has.

What a big-headed idiot.

I hate the Wii.... there I said it. My friend has one and had me try it. I wanted to throw the damn controller out the window on purpose. But I have nothing against those who can use the Wii in fact I envy them a little.

The only next-gen console I have is the Wii and I hate it.

Um, sir, perhaps you should read Esquire or GQ or any of those "fine" (I'm using the term sarcastically here) men's magazines. Megan Fox is definitely into men, especially older men. She is also into women.

I can think of plenty other games I'd rather play with megan fox... most of them not involving clothes...

See my first post as to why I'm ignoring Mr. LaBeef's existance.

She is, shes just into women too.

And I'll third that notion, although I turn it on quite often.

Eat glass you say? I'll take you up on that offer, getting it on video might distract everyone from Transformers 2, which just might save your career.

Each to his own though, but that was a bit extreme, especially for a public opinion. Here's another extreme one: If Shia LaBeouf can rustle up an acting persona that isn't identical to every single film he's starred in, i'll eat glass. Oh yes, that's naughty, but I've actually never liked him to be honest and this doesn't help.

/malice

Hmm. And here I was, thinking that the Wii was popular among the female demographic.

(That was a burn)

So another actor spreads his opinion and I'm somehow supposed to care about it?

Actually, I'm less inclined to even think about what he said just because of his role as an actor.
