Yes, yes, and more yes I own the origional game, and still play it.
Oh. Hell. Yes. | |
It's too bad that Serious Sam 2 sucked so bad, because The First and Second Encounters were frikkin' awesome. I don't shamelessly pimp too many games but seriously (did it again!), if you're a 360 owner, get this game.
I will get this as soon as it comes out. The responses already make me want to play it as soon as possible.
Nice, I see what you did there ;) I wonder if it will have competative multiplayer
Well, I like mindless killing mixed with shooty fun (DOOM / Duke Nukem). So I guess that this is right up my alley! I'll be grabbing it when it comes out.
Serious Sam was a truly awesome game. I preferred Duke Nukem though. Duke Nukem were like the Beatles of FPS whereas Serious Sam was like the Michael Jackson of FPS. Not saying that Serious Sam was worse, just a little different.
"Woah, this dude must've been dead... FOREVER." Anyway, this is awesome news indeed. Seriously
cant wait to get it myself. loved it on the xbox and cant wait to get it on the 360
Well, if Microsoft/People Can Fly can get Painkiller onto XBL, I will sell my soul to Microsoft, for you see, I am a fan of mindless shooting things/guns that shoot cool stuff.
Gamerection! | |
Am I the only one pissed about the 4-player limit on co-op? The best part of the original was that you could have teams of like 8 or so people all co-oping at the same time. And you'd STILL be horribly outnumbered. The game increased the number of enemy spawns proportionally to the number of co-oping players.
Maybe the xbox360 can not handle that type of spawning for more than 4 people co-op playing. An HD version of this game will be a great buy.
If XBLA was a beautiful woman, I'd kiss it right about now! Hell, even if XBLA was a fat, ugly, balding man with leprosy, I'd still give it a kiss! Serious Sam is just THAT awesome!
The epicness would be too much to contain
To beat a dead horse, I'll seriously be buying this, seriously. I've been playing through the second encounter again, and it's still damn fun. I'd rather they'd remake second encounter because getting out of the desert was nice, but I'll always support Croteam, and Serious Sam 1 was a great game. Great action, excessive weaponry, great graphics for its time, huge levels, and great humour. Plus the sound of the headless bombers still haunts me at night. Some of the funnest games that have come out in the last 8 years. Seriously.
In an era where Goldeneye had just come out and everyone was making their "Me Too!" games with story-heavy FPS titles, Serious Sam was a breath of fresh air for the genre by letting us get back to the "If it moves, just fuck'n shoot it" style of gameplay. The fact that it was also challenging and had a variety of interesting weapons was just icing on the cake. It was just an awesome game. Seriously.
This is the first game I've ever wanted on a platform I don't own. Ever. Very literally. Ever.
Damn, no PSN version? :( I'd like me some Sam action.
Awesome. That'll at least be a substitute for Doom, cos I can't download neither doom nor duke nukem 3d.I live in Germany, and those games are were govermently prohibited when they came out.And now, about 15 years later , I can play goregasmic Games like Ninja Gaiden II, but not Doom.
Seriously. The other day I was fantasizing about old FPS games done with new engines, like a Duke Nukem 3D remake, or Quake with the Id tech 5 engine, or Unreal 1 with the Unreal 4 engine that's coming out...Farcry with the Crysis engine. Etc. Serious Sam certainly did cross my mind. (But then I started thinking about remakes and stagnation and sequels and that I'd like new original characters instead of remaking a game from 15 years ago, blah blah blah.) (But I'd still play them. :x)
Fuck Left 4 Dead, THIS is co-op. Also, 1200 points? That's a bloody bargain! Although I'm still curious as to what the graphics update will actually include. New models? Snazzy textures? That normal mapping shizzn't? Seriously.
I'm keen to see how this all looks, I was a fan of the game back in the day. Don't own an Xbox, which may be a problem, but eh. Seriously.
I'm thinking yes. It's seriously hard not to say seri-- OH SHIT!
Yes, just god yes. | |
Eh, we get a Katamari remake
I saw this on the Seriously! website, looking forward to this (Serious Sam 3 is still a long way to go after all). Also, it's coming for PC this autumn.
My thoughts exactly. Number 2 was balls. And 4 player Co-op? Yeah, Baby Tea will be having a ball with this.
I wonder if there's any point in buying it if you have the PC version though. After all "HD" isn't exactly amazing on the PC as it has been doing high res back when consoles were proud to have 256 colors. Overall I think SeriousSam is a bit overrated, I hated its tendency to lock you into an arena until you've killed all the waves, I don't think Painkiller had this kind of wave spawning and with Earth Defense Force the waves and arenas were so large that it didn't feel as restricting. I think SS arenas could end up continuously spawning enemies, not giving you a real feeling for making progress because it seems they'll just keep spawning until the game says enough, in EDF you get maybe 2-3 waves per level (in many cases even just one) and these are spawned whole so when you've killed half the enemies in play that means you're really half way through the wave. Anyone with a 360 who's interested in SSHD should grab Earth Defense Force 2017 first. (and if any Wii owners lament the lack of Serious Sam and EDF on their system IMO Onslaught is a worthwile game in that subgenre as well)
If the co-op is local I am definitely buying this.
Serious Sam Coming to Xbox Live Arcade
Serious Sam, the seriously awesome 2001 shooter from Croatian developer Croteam, will be blasting its way to the Xbox Live Arcade this summer. Seriously.
The game is being updated and retooled for the XBLA and will be released as Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD. It will feature 12 levels of ridiculously frenetic action set in a gorgeously-rendered hi-definition Egyptian desert, with support for four-player co-op action. "We are really excited to update our hero and recreate Sam in stunning high definition for Xbox Live Arcade players," said Croatem CEO Roman Ribaric. "The fans have lobbied us hard to do this, so we are stoked about bringing Sam back as big, bold and bad as he ever was."
Serious Sam: The First Encounter made a big splash when it was released for the PC in 2001, earning immediate acclaim among FPS fans for its massive, sprawling levels, endless hordes of enemies and some of the most over-the-top action ever seen in a videogame. It looked pretty fantastic in its day, too, but the visuals in the updated XBLA release far exceed that of the original.
Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD will be released in late summer for 1200 Microsoft points and if it's anything like the original, will be well worth each and every one of them. Sam fans know what I'm talking about and if you don't, this is a perfect opportunity to find out. Seriously.
