Infamous Scribbler Posts: 688 Joined: 19 Dec 2007 | Bit of a surprise as the BBC's iPlayer was updated to specially support the PS3 (The unofficial version was better though). I use th PS3's browser all the time; I'm posting this on it now. |

If this is true (too lazy too google) then that makes a whole lot of sense. Looking at any partnerships or sponsorships shows that competitors are usually excluded from any kind of deals with their partner. |

And then exclude everyone except PS3 owners, thereby going against what you already said about more viewers being better? Or will it just serve the exact same purpose as Hulu? EDIT: This doesn't really bother me because I don't have a PS3, and I only use Hulu occasionally. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1278 Joined: 24 Jun 2009 | Sounds like Hulu's plot to take over the world doesn't involve the PS3. Sounds more like Sony's pulling some dick moves again, and people are getting fed up with dealing with their shit. |

Absolurely not, everyone can access it, even us evil, unfit ps3 owners. I read the T&C thing on hulu and it makes no mention of why we can't watch videos. I will now use only youtube and Joist (which have so thoughtfully provided a customized experience for us ps3 owners |

Evil? Also, depending on when this went into effect, they may not have had the time nor the inclination to change the terms and conditions. |

No. This isn't the reason. Sony is no worse than any other company, so Hulu is at fault here. They don't even bother to explain why they did this, so it's their wrongdoing. But then again, I couldn't care less about Hulu. |

Of course Hulu's at fault, but something tells me that they don't really need a reason to hate on Sony. But, since they haven't restricted any of the others, It does lead me to think they've got a particular bone against them specifically. |

Infamous Scribbler Posts: 557 Joined: 18 Oct 2008 | Well... my computer is around 10 feet from my plastation, so i don't think the loss of hulu access on my ps3 is any kind of a disappointment to me. I only really ever watch hulu while im at work anyway. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 351 Joined: 12 Jun 2009 | Don't care. I own a DVR and a nice laptop with HD screen (i STILL don't see the difference!), so using the PS3 to watch videos, let alone on Hulu (I don't use Hulu) is not gonna happen anytime soon.
Well, we'll know if Hulu is blocked from Wii internet. But yeah, that sounds like something Microsoft would do. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 494 Joined: 24 Jun 2008 | Something I'm not getting, why can you not use Hulu outside the US (I live in the US) is it blocking non US ips or is there a different site (like hulu.uk or something) that all of you are going to? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2170 Joined: 28 May 2008 | Seems dumb. Their content is already free, why restrict people from accessing it? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4329 Joined: 8 Jan 2009 | I have yet to try streaming videos from my browser. I figured it would be too laggy anyways, but still this kind of stinks to those that do on a regular basis. |

How the hell does that work? Do you even know whats going on here?
Can the Wii's internet even handle Hulu? That thing is abysmal User was banned for: How Sony Lost the Game. (Permanent) |

Isn't that just a rumor? I was waiting all E3 for that announcement. Needless to say I was very disappointed. *edit Hulu has the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie now. O.M.G. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 620 Joined: 8 Jan 2009 | You know... I don't suppose this could actually BE SONY's fault? We'll wait and see if Sony doesn't quietly release an update that makes this 'magically go away' |

Read the article, Hulu has specifically blocked the PS3. |

I did read it but I didn't read anything that was an expressed statement from Hulu that they blocked it. I only read THIS
What part of that statement is from Hulu? |
On the Record Posts: 6179 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 | That screenshot makes me wish more and more that I was young enough to watch the "A-Team"..... Oh, and this sucks I guess. Though I don't know how people are trying to blame this soley on Sony, it's Hulu's fault until we know more, and for that matter who cares? The internet browser for the PS3 doesn't work that much anyway, and as far as I know not that many people use the internet browser for the PS3 at all, I know I don't. |

Exactly my thoughts! But I couldn't really be bothered less by this, since as said, I can't watch Hulu anyways. |

Hulu Snubs the PS3
Hulu, the internet service that allows you to watch TV on your computer - as long as you live in the US - has blocked the viewing of its service on the PS3 web browser.
Living in the UK as I do, Hulu has largely passed me by, aside from the occasional video posted on a website or blog that I can't watch, but in the US, it's a much bigger deal. Owned jointly by Disney, Fox, NBC and a venture capital company you've never heard of, Hulu provides thousands of hours of ad-supported TV on demand, via the internet.
Not all the internet though. PS3 owners recently discovered that they could not access the service anymore, and while nothing is mentioned on the recently updated terms and conditions, a little experimenting by interested parties showed that the PS3 was being specifically blocked. This comes not long after Hulu started restricting the access to its service to just its own site and desktop player.
It seems like a very strange move, and I can't think of any good reason for it. Besides trying to beat piracy - which I would assume is part of Hulu's mission - by restricting how and where people can use a product simply doesn't work, just ask EA.
