Signed 360 Not Quite the Prize it Seems

Winning a custom Xbox 360 signed by Peter Molyneux sounds like a pretty good prize right? Wrong.

Lionhead ran a competition a little while back to celebrate the release of the See the Future DLC for Fable II, with the winner scoring a custom Xbox 360 signed by Peter Molyneux.

So when 'NeoxDonut' won the grand prize, imagine his surprise when he tried to plug the console in, and found the AV port totally unusable.

Apparently, the guts of the console are from an Xbox 360 Elite, but the case is from a first generation Xbox 360. Check out the picture if you want to see exactly how messed up that looks.

Looks like Lionhead, and Microsoft of course, really dropped the ball on this one.

Why go through all that trouble, they could have just mailed him the box with rocks in it. lol now im wondering if it was signed "steve" all over the front panel in permanent marker.

Well, see, it's more about just having it to look at. Appreciate it. Don't stare to long, and definitely don't use it.

I'm more interested in where he signed it.

There's two ways around this.

1: Rip out the case, and shove it in a new 360 case.

2: Just slice off the bit of plastic, and VOILA. You can plug the damn cables in!

So....why did Lionhead think that this was a good idea? Surely the plastic casing isn't expensive, they could have just bought a box standard Elite, sprayed on the logo, and made Molyneux sign the damn thing, rather than trying to cram one thing into another, which is time-consuming and also expensive.

Well, the "traditional" RRoD is three red lights out of four.

If you plug in a 360 and turn it on without an A/V pack attached, the 360 flashes four red lights.

4 > 3, so, yes, I would say this is worse. ;)

Well... they do say any publicity is good publicity... Although getting a reputation for being stupid may not exactly be the best approach for them, certainly the most fitting but...

Anyway I neither know nor care who Peter Molyneux is but I would not have bothered keeping it anyway. Would have sold it right away before it could RRoD.

That's so sad! I mean, the winner must have felt as though he was on top of the world after winning a contest, and this probably smashed his hopes and dreams into tiny pieces.
