"says H.A.V.E. Online is being called 'an embarrassment' to the Korean videogame industry"

Wait, the Korean videogame industry has put out something that doesn't embarrass itself?? When was this? Before or after countless crappy MMOs?

Pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter.

Yeah, that looks pretty blatant. I mean, they could at least change up the music....

Because a trailer which is clearly an allusion to TF2 makes a loadout based online shooter a rip off.

Grow up guys.

Oh yes, because Valve totally invented the concept of combattants in multiplayer using weapons like a sniper rifle, bazooka, machine gun, shotgun, minigun, or grenade launcher. Its not like we'd seen all that before in 2001. Nope, before that, all online multiplayer had was sticks and rocks.

Honestly, get over them. The similarity is that there is a lot of action and the characters use weapons? What the hell is wrong with all of you?

Hahaha, someone is mad that the PS3 got the middle finger from Valve. Just kidding, though the reason that they are upset is because 3 of the classes look almost absolutely identical and the whole game seems to have completely identical sound effects. Did you not hear the completely identical beeping and the almost identical look of the automatic turret and the almost creepily similar design of the double-jumping Scout class?

Blind men touching elephants is a metaphor lost on most American teenagers. And you all know you'd still play it and love it; let he who would not play it cast the first stone.

Why don't you say that to the countless people playing and the many other langauage changes to most of the MMO's. Silkroad for example.

Anyway I don't care. Just another case of "Did it rip it off or not?"

Im with Malygris, this game is HEAVILY inspired by TF2. But like he stated, this is only a trailer. So I have issues condeming its with out having experienced it.

I will admit that I liek the Idea oc action Figures fighting each other. It kind of reminds me of Toy Story.

What game was released in 2001 with all that? The original Team Fortress was 1996. Then the guys got hired and they released Team Fortress Classic in 1999.

I was thinking Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Notice how every game out there uses the same sound effects.

And there are no classes in this game, which poretty much prooves that everyone who thinks its a ripoff is an idiot.

I don't care if it is a rip-off, only on the quality of the game.

Yeah, it's a rip off but, can you really blame them? Team Fortress 2 is one of the most player PC games.

A random question, do you think Valve will ever make Team Fortress 3?

That's probably the most blatant rip off I've ever seen.

I see it's not just me noticing the countless blatant rip-offs released these days.

The WW2 games are not even worth mentioning, but...

DotA - Demigod

inFamous - Prototype

DiRT - FUEL

TF2 - This shit...

These are only exampled from the top of my head. Where is the originality? Or at least continue some of the great old games. Bah, game industry, you suck!

if you look at it alot of rpgs are the same: randomly gets involved in a war to save world, the Sequel: world falls back in to harm needs to be saved agian. most stories and many things are similar, maybe(in some cases) its hard or almost impossible to make ir incredibly different. I.E. World war II Games most are going to be incredibly similar, but it seems almost exactly identical(except character designs) to TF2, but i shouldn't judge till it comes out, and i see what it actually is like.

I dunno, it's a class-based multiplayer FPS. They're all pretty similar to me, except instead of looking like action figures here and in TF2 they're all muddy grey rubber manakins. Frankly, I wish there were more games that went for a more engaging aesthetic.

Team Fortress's art style is great. There's nothing else like it. And where do you get "muddy grey" from?

As in, every team based FPS besides Team Fortress 2 looks muddy and grey. I was pointing out that bitching about someone else making a cartoon styled FPS was a bit silly because it's a refreshing and new visual style in a genre where most of the games look exactly the same.

Ah, bad wording then. Sorry to jump like that.

When I read the article, I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and call it inspiration. Within half a minute of the video, I was rooting for the lynch mob. This is a complete rip-off.

That said, if the gameplay proves to be different and entertaining enough, it may still be a pretty good game in its own right. But as far as visual style, sound, teasers etc. are concerned, it's still a rip-off.

That's like asking if the Pope is Catholic...

WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT. i thought the pope was christian. CURSE YOU RELIGION <-not meant to start a flame war, just couldn't let that joke slip past :)

Anyways. I agree with what dingo was saying. it could be attempting to cash in on tf's appearance, strike that, it is DEFINENTLY attempting to cash in. On the other hand, we know NOTHING about game play. To jump to conclusions now seems a bit drastic based pureley on a trailer. Remember Tf2's first two trailers. see how the graphic effect changed. this could be a rough copy, or something to give people familiar ground. MABYE the grenade design will change, the demo(man)? may change appearance.

If not, look at it this way. it's little kids who made cheesy toys of their parents team fortress game and they come to life :)

Demigod does not rip off DotA. It's a very different game. You either aren't very familiar with both, or are just trolling.

As for inFamous and Prototype, how could one rip off the other if they both came out at about the same time?

Even the setting of tiny guys fighting in a bedroom reminds me of a series player maps that do just that.

Quite the contrary, I played a lot of DotA, and still playing with friends every once in a while, and I wrote a review of Demigod soon to be published, so yes, I know my way around both games. Demigod is a beautiful but retarded version of DotA. The gameplay is the same, save for the flag capturing, and Demigod has fewer of everything (DotA has 100 heroes, Demigod has 8, and that 8 heroes are too rip-offs of DotA heroes), but it's essentially a clone.

Interesting, isn't it? But the facts speak for themselves, the two games are too much alike to be simple coincidence. Ask Yahtzee and the hordes of gamers thinking the same...

One of the characters looks like Haruhi Suzumiya. The scout one. That's all I have to say.
Well, that and I doubt that Valve will be losing much sleep. Might get this for shits and giggles though.

A shame, the toys at war idea could have great legs. Copying TF2 would be holding it back.

Picture this, Action Figures, Anime Figures, Army Figures. Action figures have sleek, futuristic weaponry with high rates of fire, accuracy, but lower dmg. Anime figures have slower, more over the top and comical weapons and higher dmg. Army figures are balanced. Give various classes different abilities split amongst different kinds of toys - Action figures have the ability to hover/glide short distances, Army figures can jump further, longer, and fall from higher without taking damage, and anime figures can double jump or walljump.

This creates 3 possible variations for each class. Also add in cosmetic modifications. Win.

Oh and monetize it since Koreans love that shit.

I would agree here. We need more games with vibrant colour and aesthetic, not one.

The gameplay may not be a complete ripoff, but the marketing, the trailer and the music are clearly so. Why did they have to pull the blind men and elephant metaphor out of their arse?

Couldn't they have commented: "Yes we love team fortress 2. We wanted to borrow a few of their concepts and take it in a completely different direction." or "We were curious what our game would look like if we made a TF2 style trailer."

Instead they're treating all of us like idiots and trying to get people to believe that somehow they had exactly the same idea on so many counts.

To be fair, the excuse "Valve didn't invent using rocket launchers, baseball bats, etc. as weapons" is unfair. No, they didn't invent them, but they invented putting them all together in the TF2 way.

And because of the suspicions, Prototype is automatically the one who stole the ideas? Think about it without bias next time please.

I never said that. I only pointed out how utterly similar the two game is. Maybe they ripped each other off. Who knows...

You have to be mentally retarded to not see this as a blatant copy and paste of TF2. The music is nearly identical, the sound effects and weapons as well. The only thing different from tf2 are the anime chicks and the robots.
