DJ Hero Star Found Dead in Apartment

image

DJ AM, who was set to appear as a player character in the upcoming game DJ Hero was found dead in his apartment on Friday.

Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ AM, was found dead in his New York apartment on Friday afternoon at the age of 36. Goldstein's history of drug abuse was well documented and lead to a failed suicide attempt in 1997. The exact cause of death has yet to be announced but reports say that prescription medication and a crack pipe were found in Goldstein's apartment. Paramedics found him shirtless and wearing sweatpants after breaking down the apartment door when friends were unable to reach him.

Goldstein will appear in DJ Hero, which is released on October 27th, as a playable character. Tim Riley, the Activision vice president of music affairs, issued a brief statement on word of Goldstein's death: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of DJ AM. We hope that his work on the game will be a fitting tribute to his creative spirit and musical talent."

Let's see, how many dead celebrities does this year alone have now? At least 10. Well this will most likely boost sales for the game though.

Seems to coincidental. Maybe spiking sales for the game? Fucking Activision!

Ah whatever, he's in a better place. I guess.

Farewell, Adam Goldstein. We barely knew yee.

I thikn there is some government secret evil plot to all these celebrity's deaths.

yeah,I'm gonna go with "who?"

but in all seriousness,he did do the drugs apparently,so he new the consequences.he is dead, life moves on.

he was a below average DJ, then the drugs took hold and he became an average DJ, don't get me wrong he had the talent its just he wasn't that passionate about music since the drugs.

and on the celeBRATy death front I thought Amy Winehouse was dead, but according to friends, she's still alive and kicking, sucks though.... since she wont be releasing any good music from now on.

For there people its better that they die young, they get to be a martyr then, never growing old fat and talentless (see madonna)

I'd say conspiracy theorist... but it's activision they would nuke kitten land and make a kitten game just for 10 £50 sales... CURSE YOU BOB!

It's a conspiracy. Watch out, Bobby Kotick is coming in his Activision doom tank!

Or maybe it's just a coincidence (as always... suspicious).

i dont care. if he made techno music, im just happy we got another one of those pricks out of the world.

...

Who?

2008 was still THE year for Celebrity Death, though 2009 is catching up by shear volume.

So...does that mean a crack pipe will be available in the in-game store?

Wha? Who died in 2008?

Really, once Billy Mays dies, you know it's going to be a crappy year for celebrities.

keep an eye on travis barker. if he dies next, then we know Final Destination is real.

I sign this with both hands.

I say this is the final proof God exists - and he's mad at you. LIKE ZOIDBERG!!! WAAAH!!!!

Read the article and you will know, and the more you know...

.....*insert 5 mins of laughter* Oh that was perfect, just the thing to brighten up my day...seriously who died?

I keep hearing about this guy, but I've yet to actually find out who he is.

Just yesterday my friend was telling me how he loves DJ AM. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA what a coincidence.

They're still gonna use him as the PC? That's kinda creepy.

Who?

And why the monkey is there gonna be a DJ hero?

Nimbus:

No creepier than them using Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix as playable characters.

Honestly, when people heard he was found dead, did ANYBODY not instantly think right away "it was probably drugs".

I'm really wondering how the pro-drug crowds feel about now, what with all these stars dying from addictions.

On another note, I'm guessing he didnt get his "morning wake up call".
Get it? See what i did there?

Is it too soon?

I don't know, i guess i'm an ass.

Artemus_Cain:

It was coming. If they were going to cash in on Guitar music, they were going to go after the next most popular music genre and that was rap.

I did, he's still an unknown to me. As in a doubt most people will have heard of him before now.

Activision murdered him, so that they could potentially boost sales of this game.

-PEDANT ALERT!!-

nilcypher:
Goldstein's history of drug abuse was well documented and let to a failed suicide attempt in 1997.

Don't you mean "lead to a failed suicide attempt"?

-PEDANTIC PISSING OVER-

But ya, if I hadn't read this post, I could've gone and played the game and not even known it was based on a real person.

Still unfortunate to hear the guy's dead, but if he did drugs etc then it's kind of his own fault. Too bad too, this game surely would've given him quite a bit of notoriety.

Right now in his Doom Fortress, Bobby Kotick is laughing maniacally and tenting his fingers.

In all seriousness... Meh. Never heard of him anyway. I don't think anybody is looking forward to DJ Hero anyway.

A crack pipe? Seriously? This is a guy who dated Nicole Richie, Mandy Moore, and hung with Blink 182, and he was a crackhead? I've done the stuff myself, and I know it's nothing to scoff at, but it just goes to show that these people with all the money and noteriety in the world for the most part are pretty depressed people.

All the resources this guy had to get clean, the support of millions, and he couldn't do it. It's really sad.

Captain Pancake:

Wait.. you knew him? At all?

OT: Oh well. Too bad.
