Peace Walker Trailer Reminds Us Why We Love Metal Gear

Metal Gear Solid fans now have a new lengthy trailer to sink their eyes into.

The new Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker trailer shown at the Tokyo Game Show 2009 is a lengthy reminder of why Metal Gear is so cool. Peace Walker, being developed for the PSP, is set in 1974, after both the events of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and the previous PSP installment Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. After watching this trailer, I can hardly imagine that Peace Walker being developed for a handheld is any kind of disadvantage.

I would put this trailer on par with those released for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Maybe it's simply the similar technique used here: random spoken quotes placed over scenes from throughout various parts of the game. Maybe its the symbolism used, the way it follows the butterfly through multiple scenes, the infusion of Ashley Wood's illustrated sections, or the overarching statement on what peace truly is.

Whatever it may be, something about this trailer really fires me up and also tugs at my heartstrings at the same time. Somehow these Metal Gear trailers are able to show so many scenes from the game, but never ruin it when the game actually comes out. I think it's time to buy a PSP when Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is inevitably released in North America.

*sigh* I knew I'd need to pick up a PSP one of these days... looks like Kojima is going to be the one to make me do it.

Finally. A time to use my PSP again for reasons other than just God of War!

I wanted to say something really deep and moving and whatnot but all that I have running through my head after that is:

Awesome.

Damn you Hideo. Now I have to get a PSP!

if you guys go to IGN, there is a peacwalker demo you can download. It's in Japanese, but it's still playable and damn does it ever look pretty. From what someone has told me, it plays a lot like MGS4 (I have not played MGS4) which seems like a major improvement from the other PSP Metal Gears.

DAMN IT! This game needs to stop being awesome or I'll have to go buy a PSP...my wallet is sobbing.

Naked Snake is pure awesome

ok kojima i will give you my house and my grandma if you give me this game right now u.u

Simply wow, that was one of the best trailers I've seen for a game, between the music and them setting the story. DO WANT VERY MUCH.

I'm getting that giddy feeling I used to whenever I watched one of the MGS4 ads before they released the game. Hopefully Rising will be as good, since Peace Walker seems to have a really mature story.

Same problem here... Damn, this is looking much better than I imagined. I really can't wait.

I agree, I actually want a PSP now, and I always say "why the hell should I buy a sound par system for portability when I read when I'm out anyway"

I don't actually say that, I say witty stuff like "Oh my god, I'm so glad I found the toilets", and "yeah man".

But needless to say, a PSP is now on my list of things I wish I could buy!, hooray!.

Between this and Birth By Sleep, I want a psp soooo bad. I can't afford it yet. Looks like this'll have to be one of those things I buy when you can get them for like 50 bucks on Amazon.
