An enterprising fan has created a video showcasing a blend of DS cult classics Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Elite Beat Agents with the dulcet tones of Freddie Mercury and Queen. And it's awesome.
As it happens, the games in the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy are hands down some of my favorites of all time (not Apollo Justice, though. That game can bite me). Furthermore, I am of the opinion that Elite Beat Agents is also indisputably one of the most awesome games on the handheld, blending intuitive and entertaining touch-screen gameplay with over-the-top everything else. This is a game that manages to make Avril Lavigne and Cher actually enjoyable experiences, for cryin' out loud.
So it stands to reason that a video combining the two of them - called Osu! Phoenix Wright - would be the best thing ever. As we see here, yes. Yes it is. This video (showing a custom level for unofficial EBA/Ouendan PC port Osu!) pits the Elite Beat Agents cheering on the eponymous Ace Attorney in one of his come-from-behind moments in court (defending one of their own number, no less), and there's nothing about it that I don't love. This video seamlessly manages to blend the style of the two games together, and you get the feeling that it could be dropped down in either of them and still make sense.
Oh, also it's set to "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen, and as we all know, it's been scientifically proven that Queen makes everything better.
A little investigating reveals that the "plot" of the level is actually based off a Phoenix Wright / Elite Beat Agentscrossover fanfiction. Which, if it's anything as awesome as the video is, might be worth reading. I guess I know what I'm doing today.
Your news article is misleading. This is not a fan video, it is a video of a playthrough of a level for "Osu!" which is basically a version of Elite Beat Agents for PC. It's free, so I suggest you download it and see for yourself: http://osu.ppy.sh/
This particular level is also available on the website. Along with almost 9000 other tracks.

Holy crap that was awesome, and I fully agree that this would fit perfectly in either game (although considering how different the gameplay is from your usual PW:AA fare, I think it might be better suited for EBA).
That must be pretty hard to keep up with, so kudos to whoever was controlling that (unless it was the AI). Excellent portrayal of the song in the Elite Beat Agents style, and the court case in the back ground was spot on.

Take a look at the top right corner. Auto mode is on :P
HardRockSamurai: Wow. Never in my life would I expect to see that. If I ever meet the people who made this, I'll hug them.
Watching this made me so happy, and that's not even considering that I woke up early to get to school at 7:30 to work on a Literature presentation with one other incompetent person because the other two people in our group couldn't be reached yesterday and it was only assigned two days ago. Thank you. <3

I did a piece on this MONTHS ago! I've been playing this game for well over a year... nobody paid attention to my thread. This make sme happy and all getting more people into the game but... I mean, Funk... old news :D
Excuse me if I seem spiteful. I just can't believe that this got into the News Room! Maybe people will start playing it... I'd love to get an Escapist Osu! User Group goin'.
Or you could download Osu. It is freeware, and since they've also done things like adding a competitive multiplayer mode and song editor, it's a completely new (and awesome) game.
I myself was working on a beatmap for the Code Monkeys theme song. It's finished, sort of, though I do need to make the easier difficulty not be completely boring.

I'm suspecting these guys have been spying on me for the past few years, because this is pretty much straight from my awesomest dreams; an Elite Beat Agents game in the Phoenix Wright universe with Queen. Those guys should officially publish this on the DS.
Words fail to express the sheer concentrated nerdgasmic awesome of this. It's like if Jack Black voiced the male cast of Gurren Lagaan, raised to the power of chainsaw nunchucks.
Also, you have to love the "And A Boot To The Head!" slipped in at one point.
