Sarah Palin Xbox 360 Back on eBay

image

The Sarah Palin autographed Xbox 360 that was up for sale on eBay is back and this time the seller says he's got all the bases covered.

The console was signed by Palin during a public picnic at her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, according to seller David Morrill of Alberta, Canada, who originally put the unit up for auction in early August. Unfortunately for Morrill, eBay seemed a little less than anxious to have the Palin-signed console listed through its service; the auction was quickly de-listed due to a lack of photos and "insufficient description of the item." Morrill uploaded more photos and added some technical information about the console, after which eBay de-listed it a second time and suspended his account in the process because the $1.1 million dollar bid the auction attracted was too large for PayPal to process.

A few days ago, having found a payment site that can do the job, Morrill listed the console under a new account; on October 5, it was pulled again, this time for being in violation of eBay's "No Item" policy ("Listings with the apparent, primary purpose of expressing the seller's personal views are not permitted") and also because he listed it in the wrong category. In response, Morrill removed the story of how he acquired the item and put the auction up yet again, this time as a "Collectibles > Autographs > Political > Other."

Bidding on the new auction is restricted to pre-approved buyers only and starts where the old one left off: A cool $1.1 million. Whether eBay will give up the fight and let Morrill sell this thing, or at least try to, is anybody's guess but for now, at least, the auction action is underway. No bids have yet been received (shocking, I know) so if you've got a few bucks in your pocket and you'd like to lighten your load, the line starts here!

Who would pay $1.1 million dollars for a damn signed console??

Glad I live in England where nothing like this happens.
I think...

Why would you want to see her name whenever you started playing on your 360? I guess it'd make GTAIV more interesting if you thought every woman you ran over was her. But is that worth $1.1million? Man, some people have more money than sense...

Why should they even care? I imagine the first few delistings were just to cover their bases against a scam, but they make money if that thing sells.

I refuse to believe this will get legitiately sold.

If someone that badly wanted to get an autographed xbox, or anything for that matter, by Sarah Palin, it would actually cost them less to pay a visit to her at her office to get it done. Hell, even if you had to pay her the i bet the total cost would still be less than a million bucks.

This guy is unbelieveable.

That guy's gotta be pissed if it doesn't sell, considering he had 1.1 mil in front of him before he got hammered down.

Well, personally I think Ebay is in the wrong here. To be entirely honest with you I think they should remain politically neutral, and it seems like this is what amounts to Republican bashing. You didn't have similar issues over resales of autographed copies of the "Spider Man meets Obama" crossover.

Also in general it seems the leanings of those on this site (and arguably most fan sites in general) tends to be pretty far to the left. In general the country is polarized 50-50 and Obama came into power with a 7% lead after two terms of Republican domination. There is neither a *massive* anti-Republican sentiment, nor quite the hatred for Bush some believe there is (he WAS a two term president).

Now truthfully a failed Vice Presidential cantidate doesn't strike me as being any big deal, even with a governorship. It's not like it's the signature of a president or vice president. As such my attitude is pretty "meh" when it comes to someone asking a million dollars for it (and I think the bid was bogus, similar to some of the bids to buy the name to the "Goatse" site via auction once upon a time).

That said, I'm sure she has FAR more fans than many people here would like to admit, not many people even get a shot at running a state, never mind even TRYING for the Vice Presidency. She is hardly a failed politician even with all of the scandals, she's gotten further than well... pretty much everyone outside a very select group of people.

I don't find this inherantly "lulzworthy" but I do think 1.1 million is kind of ridiculous for her autograph. I'd think it would double or triple the standard cost of the X-box tops.

So the price is US $1,100,000, right? Two remarks here:

1. No free shipping? Are you kidding?
2. Bid history: 0 bids

How does providing a service to sell an autograph get them involved in politics? Would selling a Babe Ruth signed baseball put them on the wrong side of the fence for Red Sox's fans?

And we should be excited about this...why, exactly?

You know what? Sarah Palin already signed the console once, so why not sweeten the deal? Have her write on the Xbox 360 the following- and it's a quote by her, so it should be fine:

"Our opponent [Obama]...is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he's palling around with terrorists [apparently in reference to Obama's friendship with William Ayers] who would target their own country."

Oh, it'll sell all right! You betcha.

I think...

If Cheryl Cole had signed it with her arse cheeks, then I'd of given it consideration (had I ever had the money). And it would be worth it.

Sarah Palin? No.

User was put on probation for: Good bye to an old firend, my 360 :(. (3 days)

Well, I think most people would of as well.
Also, as a 360 owner, I have to say this.

That's gonna be a hell of an expensive paperweight.

The only reason I'd spend that much on a console is if I can beat her upside the head with it without being arrested. But who wouldn't remortgage their souls for a chance to do that?

If you have 1.1 million dollary doo's you could charter a plane to Alaska find Sarah Palin pay her $50 000 to get her to autograph your x-box and save over $1 million.

Wait, is this one of those first generation 360s? I can understand 1.1 million for the upgraded chipset, but for a RROD prone unit... no fucking way, man. Does that guy think we're fools?

Okay...

One: Who wants a signed Xbox for $1.1 million? It better at least come with Prototype.
Two: What's the point?
Three: I can't believe someone bid $1.1 million in the first auction.

How much do you wanna bet it comes with the RROD?

And WHO would want an xbox at hundreds of times the price to have her name on it? I could understand like a whole band or a lead devolper you were a fan of. But a politicain? PASS

I think it's an effigy... you know, when the console inevitably dies, you can pretend she croaked with it. That's about the only logical reason I can see for it.

one would think palins autograph would actually decrease the value of the console

People still care about Sarah Palin? Seriously?

I mean, she retired from Politics. No one should care about her anymore. She's a quitter and a failure. A source of ire from the Republicans and humour from the Democrats. Her memoirs/autobiography is called "Going Rogue" and apparently is barely written by her at all which kind of defeats the point of making it 'her' autobiography/memoirs.

And "Going Rogue", Mrs Palin? Did you look at the definition of that word before you plastered it on your book? I doubt it, but mostly because I doubt you can even bloody read English.
