Damn, I was gonna cause an uproar over here, write to the Daily Mail, and get a big campaign going, and hire a skip in my town to dispose of all these evil, killer games.

Then empty the skip into a wheelbarrow and trundle down to GAME and trade them all in for a new 360, PS3, Wii, and a big pile of new ultraviolent games :D

But it seems I'd only make about five pounds, won't even cover the cost of the skip hire.

There again, a lot of people read the Daily Mail and they generally have a lot of money...

*Considers plan*

I tell ya what that video was missing...

A load of tumbleweed blowing across the street.

I find it kind of sad that while the parents blame the games for their little darling's shooting spree, they NEVER take responsibility for their child's actions. But then again, who's going to say "I'm sorry, it's all my fault - I should have been a better parent to little Johnny" to media film crew?

The game is nothing more than an easy scapegoat for the parent to pass the buck onto.

It seems our support was not needed in the end. I must apologize and admit that I placed little faith in our brothers overseas... I am sorry.

I hope for the sake of Germany, that the anti-gamer groups are getting their ass handed to them. From the little I've heard though their winning since your country seems to ban any game that looks at them funney (I can understand why they don't like WWII games though). At any rate, please tell me I'm wrong. It'd suck if a guy got into power based on anti games who was as crazy as Hitler.

The answer is no. This election, we had a party standing up for the rights of data-security, free gaming, against the government spying on your computer with self-made trojans/hijacking stuff... and they got like 2%...

So the left wing won this time and people already start complaining about them. This country is so f*cked up...

Well hopefully the politicians start seeing the trend of votes come next election, and start looking for the correct answer to the problem, and not a scapegoat answer like your country has a history of exploding into world issues. Repeating history is never a good idea. I'm glad for once people in Germany might actually be realizing that.

I heard a polititian on the radio. He was asked "People of what age are mainly focused by your actions?" and he answered "people around 60+ because thatīs the age of our voters"

In germany, young people get angry at polititians and refuse to vote. I think thatīs logical, because they just try to do stuff which involves getting money in. I canīt remember one thing they did for young people. Germany seems to hate us. And speaking about mass media and the truth, America has MUCH more shocking, revealing movies and shows on TV than we have.
Itīs like we should consume, stay dumb and sit in the corner of our room playing "Gina Lisas Extreme Shopping" on our DS.

To be fair, the pirate party is a pretty new political movement and for that they didn't do that bad. When the German green party started out they didn't get that far in their first election. And the pirates got over 5% in a city or two.

Every election there is more a push to get 18-29's out to vote, usually with the wrong message included(mostly because it is focused on the youth that can't vote at that time, being 15-17). Heck even the uptight Republican Party held quite the youth rally for this last Presidential election, though it obviously fizzled. The politician you heard speak about his voting demographic isn't too different from quite a few of our own. I may have to do some research on this to really see what sets Germany and the US apart, but there are many a politician here who would as soon put restrictions on games. I'm sad that the nightmare we fear here is the nightmare you are experiencing there. I hope that can change for the better for you and others.

HAHAHA no one came, and they shouldn't support such a stupid cause. Games are entertainment and the reason for the school shooting was not video games but bad parenting, social alienation, and mental problems. Hey there's like a billion people playing games, if the Germans are right there would be 50 school shootings daily.

Jesus Christ guys... I do see the funny side, but this isn't some fantacial politician or a crazy homeless guy. These are the families of a tragic event who were misguided by an incredibly biased media and government, who genuinely think that the youth of today is up to no good. Really? I mean... really? The German youth of today are the direct descendants of the German youth of yesterday, and we all know what the German youth got up to in their spare time and favourite uniforms.

I feel for the hosts. It's not their fault they were told about violent games (read not any other form of media or stimulation including the fucking killer going to a gun range and owning lots of guns ) by a scapegoating media who have taken an outrageous step into ludicrousness ever since they started calling these violent games "killer" games, as if the games themselves creep out at night and strangle adorable homeless orphans.

You know what I would have done if I lived in Germany? Gotten some friends, my van, some chairs an Xbox, some very violent games and a crappy TV. Then I'd go down to their "protest" and play some Gears of War, Rainbow 6 and such. Give them some entertainment while no-one throws away their games that they payed good money for.

I'd go with you, and bring a few World War 2 shooters along. ;P

Seriously though, the last time the Germans allowed a small group of people to put all the blame on a single thing, they ended up starting a world war and exterminated 11 million people. I'm glad the country has made such significant strides in not jumping on the bandwagon.

Considering dates, the German youth of today are the direct descendants of the day before yesterday, if not the day before that. If you're referencing the Hitler Youth, anyway.

The shooting was a tragedy, but I can't say I'm surprised that this sort of thing was met with such indifference. Games can't really be held accountable for something like that, can they?

Damn, are they intentionally doing it so everyone compares current-day Germany with Nazi Germany? I mean, look at the politics there. It's like they're pulling an elaborate joke, but nobody's laughing.

Sorry but you are wrong, this isn't some kind of spontanous knee-jerk reaction by a group of people in grief. It's an organized group of people who had months to grief by now.

It's not some "fanatical politican" but it's an "fanatical" parent who lost his child. The head guy of these people Hardy Schober has lost his child too in the school shooting. He created this group and closed down his old company (that didn't go too well anyway) and now plans to live off the money the group gets trough donations. A few other parents of killed children allready left this group because they don't approve how he handles the situation.

And as a german 26 year old i'm not gonna comment on your "oh they where once nazis you know? they must be bad somehow" part... That's like saying all americans are evil because they killed most of the native residents of their country "a few generations ago".

While the media plays it's role too, they can't claim to "not know it better". We (as in "the german gamers) tried a rational discussion with these people serveral times. But most of the time we get just ignored or if they answer they didn't read/listen/understand what we told them.

Even at said event gamers talked to these people, email adresses where exchanged in hopes to get a discussion going. Hardy Schober even claimed at the end (when it had been pretty clear that the whole event failed) that they knew from the beginning that not many people would throw their games in. They just wanted to start a "dialog" with the gamers trough this event... that's what they claimed...

The situation now, a few months later? Nothing, they still don't answer emails, they still go around telling people the same lies, they still want a total ban on any games that include violence against humans or human-like enemies.

So please don't try to make it look like they don't know it better because nobody told them. Enough people tried to tell them, often enough they said they want an dialog and often enough this dialog ended one-sided because they didn't listen/answer to the gamers.

At this point i think Hardy Schober is only in it for the money, but to get many donations he needs publicity and you get the most publicity by saying stupid stuff to many people...
