Holy buckets filled with VATS. I wonder what Valve will say about this. Seeing that they are launching the new L4D, I doubt they will be easy to buy. Another EA buys Rockstar scenario.
I think this is a great move. Valve and Bethesda are the greatest company ever. Together they could rule the world.
Well, it'll be another Great to add to the collection. I don't mind what happens, as Valve will continue as normal, and Zenimax will support them, but not overly.
If Bethesda's TES:V schedule and VALVE's HL2:Ep3 schedule are in any way allowed to mingle... My calculations show that no new games will come out of either of those companies for eight and a half eons.
Hm. I'm imagining the Heavy in Fallout 3. I need to change my pants.
so maybe they'll actually develop for more than just m$ systems and give up excuses of "not having the man power" or something equally as bad
Interesting. At least they're not being purchased by Disney.
Any compromises to Valve's game quality would make me sad ):
it better not change steam...
Valve's big enough to look after itself now. I don't think they'll get bought out.
A-hahahahaa, no. Valve are rich - even without Left 4 Dead, Portal, Half-Life 1/2/Episodes, etc, etc, they also own the Steam service, so are probably worth MORE than ZeniMax.
I like your thinking, but Bethesda was a little Harry on the Fallout 3 DLC.... that is if you're pointing toward the PS3.
I don't like this.. at all. =[
I hope that Valve should it accept remains totally independent. I don't want them to become Bethesda Seattle or whatever.
No. I shall not allow it! ... 10 bucks on it being fake
Holy crap! If this is true, then that would truly be a match made in heaven!
The thought of something like Fallout 3 with Valve's character animation and humour is..Wait. I'm getting ahead of myself.
So...they just want it for Half-Life? That's just like eating only the syrup from ice blocks, you aren't getting the WHOLE experience.
I would imagine that Valve has more than enough lucre-bucks to not even need to consider this.
Interesting, but worrying. I'm sceptical.
No! They'll both just backhand us PS3 owners give us nothing but table scraps.
I was under the impression that VALVe had enough disposable income to purchase the moon at this point.
I would no dought kill myself if that happend
Really? I thought Valve was swimming in money...
You abbreviate Microsoft's name with a dollar sign like they're the only company around that's all about the money... Hilarious. Especially when you seem to imply that Sony and Nintendo, of all companies, are better...
That's more or less what I was thinking, though I'm not really sure how big ZeniMax is outside of games... Anyone care to go dig up some real data?
I hope to christ that they don't. The only thing that could come of ZeniMax having control over half-life is that they ruin the series completely, as Bethesda did with Fallout.
Great, now Valve can cater to the fucking idiots who buy every Release of Madden. Soon we will be looking at Half-Life 18: Episode 37 and it will suck balls.
So...3 eons before DNF? ;)
No no no. I doubt its true (and even if it was Valve would never allow themselves to be bought by someone), but there needs to be competitiveness.
As long as valve doesn't get worse in the end. Maybe we can get a mix of fallout and half life, a free open world where you play as a rebel trying to overthrow the combine, but i didn't like fallout that much so i probably wouldn't like it, and with all the money I've spent on steam, Valve better be rich.
in a good way or bad? | |
I thought Valve had enough money to buy a small Space Shuttle. Valve are probably worth more than ZeniMax.
Doubt it. | |

Rumor: Bethesda to buy Valve?
There's a rumor on the ol' interweb that Bethesda's parent company ZeniMax are looking to buy a certain FPS developer.
If rumors are to be believed, Bethesda's parent company ZeniMax isn't happy with just owning the Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein franchises, it wants to get its hands on possibly the most highly regarded first-person shooter in the world, Half-Life.
Valve, like id Software, has remained independent since its inception in 1996 and has partnered up with larger companies to handle distribution, first with Sierra, and then later with EA. The purchase of Valve would be a significant boost for ZeniMax, given how beloved the developer is and the acquisition of Steam isn't something to be sneezed at either.
On Valve's part, the move might be a smart one, giving it access to funds and a relatively hands-off publisher, which is something that it seems to like. We've contacted both Valve and Zenimax for comment and will keep you updated.
