They have decided, as a group, to retire and pass the torch of great PC FPS developer to another company. After much deliberation they decided the only way to properly do this was to sabotage their own game(because if it hit the market unhindered, no other FPS would ever surpass it) so more push could be put behind development of a version BF:BC2 on the PC. They payed Eddie J. to set a precedent that would hopefully be followed by the rest of the PC gaming market, because Infinity Ward's PC sales for Modern Warfare 2 is all that would be needed to have DICE running smoothly for the next decade. The sad part, Modern Warfare 2 was going to be the messiah of gaming. It was going to be the first ever, perfect game that would render all other FPS, current and future, obsolete. Oh well, A BF:BC2 port is nice too. (No offense meant to anyone, especially DICE. I love BF:BC) |

Ah yeah, a donation to Desert Bus is a donation to Child's Play, but with the added bonus of torturing Graham and Paul! :D Yeah, that's a worthy cause! :D EDIT - I r did teh reseertch! EDIT 2 - "Simon" is not part of LRR, Unskippable, or anything else to do with the Desert Bus. I, of course, meant Paul. |

Thats not true look at dragon age origins, fallout 3, red faction guerrilla, uncharted 2. Its just in the case of mw 2 is is important since the mp in cod 4 was the main reason it was so popular the single player was nothing special |
Muckraker Posts: 255 Joined: 25 Feb 2009 | I honestly think this entire thing is being blown way out of proportion. Heaven forbid that the gloruis PC master-race has to pay the same price or deal with the same bullshit console gamers do. However, ad a matter of principal, this is pretty damned funny. Probably won't amount to Jack shit compared to DICE's budget, but it's an interesting gesture. I prefer Battlefield anyways. I think DICE should go back to making games like Battlefield 2.Christ that game is fun. |

Actually, now they have to pay an exorbitant amount more than console gamers. And this effects console gamers as well, since they're taking our party chat. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1326 Joined: 24 Jun 2009 | An interesting gesture, symbolic, iconic, and with deep seated meaning embedded into it alongside themes of betrayal, vengeance, and retaliation. Is that worth $60? Fuck yes. |

party chat isn't that big of deal, not enough to hurt the game |

Ah, hah. As a Canadian, I find this very funny. Anyway. I understand he's trying to make a point, and he does it quite well, but... Why not just buy another game with that money, then? Maybe I'm just too lethargic to understand these things. |

"These days"? FPS games have always and will always be all about multiplayer. |

I do, that's why I'm no longer purchasing a product with the Activision logo stamped onto it. |

Right, because the first 2 FPS games ever (Wolfenstein and Doom) should negate the fact that FPS games have been a multiplayer haven for the past 20 years. |

For me it is, I'm having the most fun in a big party with mostly everyone playing different games. That was enough to make me choose Assassin's Creed 2 over MW2. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3006 Joined: 23 Apr 2009 | I was going to go with BF2 anyway...way to go eddie! |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1853 Joined: 7 Jul 2008 | So wait, he sends the money to a company that made games where you had to buy DLC to get an edge (i.e. the first Bad Company) to protest the business choices of Activision/Infinity Ward who are also after your money? ...I don't think he thought this through. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1916 Joined: 11 Mar 2009 | So instead of buy BF BC2 when it comes out for $60.00 he sends DICE $60.00 instead and will pry have to pay another $60.00 when BF: BC2 comes out? I don't think Eddie thought this through that well. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1601 Joined: 26 Apr 2009 | Well, it seems to be a hasty decision, but it wasn't going to Activision, so he gets a thumbs up from me. Then again, he's gonna have to pay 60 bucks again to get Battlefield when it comes out, so all I can say to him is: oops. |

Well, I was going with the "always" part of the quote, but then we could bring in all the Arcade FPSs, Unreal, Turok, and a number of games that have had a far superior single player game than multiplayer. That's before we drag up Duke Nukem, Blood, Redneck Rampage, Rise of the Triads, Descent, Star Wars: Dark Forces or Hexen. Or let's look at Doom 3 or Bioshock. Not renowned for their multiplayer, are they? |
Muckraker Posts: 231 Joined: 29 Nov 2007 | I'm impressed by the statement he made, but why $60? If he was upset over the PC version of MW2, why did he pay the console price of $60 when it's usually $50 for PC? |
Press Junketeer Posts: 416 Joined: 1 Jan 2009 | I was thinking of buying CoD:MW2 next Tuesday but now that I think about it, fuck Activision. I'll spend the money on new brakes for my truck. And to think, I was gonna buy the Prestige Edition. Edit: Nothing against, Infinity Ward, but fuck Activision. |

Because MW2 decided to charge $60 for the PC version of their game, and he wanted to spite Activision of their full money's worth. |

Infamous Scribbler Posts: 537 Joined: 30 Jun 2009 | OH SHIT, SON! This man has the right idea! See, this is what happens when you let Activision decide your lives for you, you get fucked HARD and you throw your support behind (no pun intended) other, less shitty (again, no pun intended) game developers. Eddie J. my hat goes off to you. :) |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1699 Joined: 17 Jun 2009 | Way to go Eddie, I doubt you actually accomplished anything, but good on you anyway. I think you'd have been better of sending a note to Infinity Ward telling them in no uncertain terms where they can stick MW2. |
