Oh for f*** sake this is getting ridiculous.
Merchandising, where the real money from the game is made!
This can only go badly *looks at DJ Hero* Or mabye they're onto something...
Hey, don't be hating on Nicko, he is an intellige- well he is moderatel- ok well, drool.
May the Schwartz be with you! This is kind of extreme, I have to say.
... Why? Why do we need even more of this crap? If people want to play instruments they should pick up the real deal and DO SOME FUCKING WORK to acquire the necessary skills!!!
Urgh... They'll keep piling it on until they blow up as a result of over-production!
Next year: Flute Hero | |
*insert drummer joke here*
Nope. I don't see this ending well. Especially when Nintendo files a lawsuit for copyright infringement on "Wii Drums".
Looks like Activision is going the Nintendo route.
Guitar Hero has drums in it. Why is there need for this!? The fools!
In the original Guitar Hero (the good one) after the song, sometimes the drummer would explode. Bunch of sellouts.
Well its probably only going to get worse - "Keyboard Hero", "Cello Hero", "Bard Hero", "Epic Hero (an RPG)", "Hero Hero", and finally, "Activison Hero", where you have to spin out as many 'Hero' titles as you can before the cash cow dies.
Damn it! Where's my Accordion Hero? I will probably end up getting this just to dick around on. It also reminds me I need to get a drum kit instead of just hitting my legs with any random stick I find.
It started getting ridiculous when Band Hero reared its ugly head. OT: This is starting to be a bit much, I think Activision have Hero-itis, and see dollar signs for just slapping anything with the word "Hero" on it and make money. I for one am eagerly awaiting "Cello Hero" or "Ocarina Hero" to come out in 2012. O.o Edit: I did go get DJ Hero just because the turntable concept intrigued me. DJ Hero was a good buy imo.
As an actual drummer I challenge Activision to make a drum simulator as accurate as rock band's.
Mr Chalk that last joke is in incredibly bad taste. Good man. Since they already have drumming modes, could it be possible they are just taking the trademark to stop stop cheeky little company grabbing the name for it's cheap TV plug in clones? It would seem a little redundant to have a drumming specific game unless the drumkit was something special...
Relax. I feel the same way, but this isn't the place to express it. Now they have the chance to really focus on the drums. Make lots o' drums with songs that actually would require something from you. Or even better, make it possible to 'improvise' 'n' stuff (within a barrier ofc, or flaws could appear as improv), and not being just a slave for the red and blue buttons on the screen. Anyways, I'm not one for [insert instrument] Hero, since none of the games come close to the real deal (yet).
I just waiting for French Horn hero till I accuse them of milking it.
This is just getting stupid, like drumers! lol Sorry about that, this is a bit over the top, drums arn't even hard to play, you just need a sense of rhythem, which you also need to play these games, so just buy a f**king drum kit!
I would say that activision are milking the franchise, but that would be the biggest understtement of the year ,still work some Lombardo and maybe some Jordinson in there and i will be happy
I couldn't stop laughing at that. Anyway, this is getting more then a bit ridiculous. The _____ Hero series needs to be taken behind the barn and put down, its gone on long enough.
It makes money, though. Of course it won't be put down if it does that. Just re-package the game with new songs and the sheeple will eat it up like hotcakes. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Coming soon: HERO Hero! For those of you who don't want to take the time to learn real Guitar Hero! Just one big red button that you press over and over again. And just like the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games you don't have to worry about pesky things like beat, rhythm, or notes. Nope, just press the big red button and TOTALY rock out just like the real thing of the not real thing!
Just like Activision. What would have been a novel idea would be to make instrument specific DLC. Imagine being able to download a 5 minute long drum solo, or a song so focused on the guitar that none of the other instruments are worth playing. You can't? That's the way Activision wants it to be.
You forgot to mention that the Corvette has to have hit a rock fence on New Year's Eve.
*facepalms due to Activision milking more franchises of Hero in which people will buy this pointless crap.
Next year: "Modern Warfare Hero"
Apologies, but I have to do this. Drums are, according to yourself easy to play. However, you will never be able to play this. Ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwWoOMALJrQ&feature=related Basics of all instruments are easy. This is why they are basics. However, I agree, just buy an electronic drumkit if you have any hankering to play drums.
Oh my God how can you forget the epic didgeridoo hero and banjo hero!?
And with that, you've just won "Activison Hero"
Woo-hoo! What a great game that will be.
What's next? Accordion Hero? Ocarina Hero (Now with all Legend of Zelda Songs)?

Activision Files for Drum Hero Trademark
Activision has filed a trademark for Drum Hero, a new music game which will finally shine the spotlight on the band member most likely to suffer a horrific yet amusingly bizarre death.
Nobody wants to be the drummer. Russ Pitts pointed that out in a prescient mid-2008 article in which he noted that drummers get no respect as musicians and often as human beings. What does the average drummer get on an IQ test? Drool. Yet Activision seems to think that there might be enough Nicko McBrain wanna-be's in the world to support yet another offshoot of the Hero franchise and has thus filed a trademark for Drum Hero.
Drum Hero could very well end up as a sort of tangential tie-in to the current Guitar Hero or Band Hero franchises, rather than a stand-alone videogame; the trademark filing covers a wide range of products including "toys, hand-held games with liquid crystal displays, musical toys; action figures and accessories therefor; arcade games; coin-operated video games; electric action toys; handheld unit for playing electronic video games [and] electronic toy drums."
Of course, nobody knows whether or not the game is even in the works at this point and it's quite possible that Activision simply wants to nail down another musical Hero title for future considerations. The publisher told CVG that it would not comment on "rumors and speculation," including reports that a special "Rick Allen Mode" Achievement would be awarded to players who finish the game with one hand tied behind their upside-down Corvette.
