Borderlands DLC The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned Hits Nov. 24th

image

Dust off your acid-spitting revolvers and lightning-bullet sniper rifles, amigos - The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned will be coming to Borderlands on November 24th.

Now don't get me wrong, Borderlands has quite a bit of replay value, what with its co-op treasure hunting action and boosted difficulty on repeated play-throughs, but you can only battle the Crimson Lance in the streets of Old Haven for so long before it starts to get a bit old. Thankfully, Gearbox is looking to freshen up the experience a bit with the game's first DLC, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned (no relation to Fyrestone's Dr. Zed, as far as I can tell).

According to the official press release, Dr. Ned's Zombie Island will let Roland, Lilith, Mordecai and Brick square off "against ferocious brain-eating zombies, carnivorous Were-Skags and more" all in the pursuit of sweet, glorious loot. Since, y'know, clearly an island full of the undead will have better equipment than the mythical lost Vault full of alien riches.

At the moment, the announcement only mentions that the DLC will be available for Xbox 360 (800 MS Points) and PS3 ($9.99 on PSN) with no word about a PC release, but we can always hope that they'll make it happen, right? Oh, and that they'll get rid of the GameSpy requirement for multiplayer, because that's totally lame. But then again, PC gamers who want co-op zombie hunting action will have their hands full with Left 4 Dead 2, so maybe it's for the best.

Of course it will; aliens don't have doomsday devices, like a ruined metropolis will.

That was quick, they need to fix some of the problems with the game first though

oh god i think im beginning to become a fanboy, i thought borderlands was one big disappointment, that may be because i cant play whit my friends, and i still got a little offended when i read that the dlc probably wont come out for the pc.

I do hope that they will release it on the PC.

It's only a rumour. Fallout released DLCs on PC, after all.

Found a proof.

I can't wait for the DLC. I'm getting bored with my 2nd playthrough.

I can't wait, although your wrong about the replay value, I'm still looking forward to completeing all the characters.

What problems does it have?

Sweet. I just hope that there are loads of zombies, and I mean loads, just to make it more challenging.

Also, I hope they're slow lumbering, at least most of 'em. That's why I want loads.

Think Dead Rising with decent guns and cell shaded.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I hear about it they're going to add more gun components so that you get more varied weapons, is this true?
Personally I'd like to see an SMG with a clip at the front for aesthetic reasons, there might be one in the original but I haven't found it.

coool can't wait xD

First DLC I've been looking forward to in a while!

This looks like a lot more amusement for when I actually finish getting through Borderlands. Probably the first DLC I'll bother to buy when it comes out.

As for PC, I'm sure thats being slow because they're trying to work out the crappy kinks there. You know, the logic of why release a DLC when its got half a dozen other problems?(If this is true, they might be my new heroes.)

Sparky will be pleased.

Zombies, really? I'm sick of killing zombies. Its boring. Unless they're funny zombies. Like in PvZ.

Were-Skags? My god we're all going to die horribly and love every minute! I hope it's like Old Haven with Skags.

There's a lot of problems

People can't play together on PC because the gamespy online is shit. (I'm using Gameranger to bypass the shitty service)

Skill points can be permanently removed because of a bug.
Upgrades can be removed (I lost my 8 grenades and had to rebuy, not a big deal but worrying non the less)

Lilith moves had a lot of problems, one didn't even work at all.

I saw T.K. Baha both alive and well in his seat and dead hanging from a ceiling fan.

Cars drive weird and often bump into nothing

I get stuck on nothing (roof of a building while trying to get pistol parts, every time I have to jump over a invisible hurdle)

I could go on but I don't even know all the problems.

The game is quite epic, but yes they do have to fix some things. Especially the PC version since you have to bipass shitty gamespy to even play it with friends which is THE ENTIRE POINT.

I hope you can become a wereskag, then again I always found weird perks like that cool.

The only main problem I have that you listed was the cars driving but I soon got the hang of it and didn't mind the bumps somtimes. I ran into the TK Baha problem too but that was just interloping quests, I thought it was kind of funny. But I own it for the console so I don't know about the PC problems but they seem frustrating.

What problems doesn't have? The buggy online and the fact that some talents flat-out don't work suggests to me that they did no beta testing for the game, just slapped it together and shipped it out.

i think/ hope they will release it on PC cause i got it on there despite all the compaints i heard about it, its the kinda game i would want on my PC...

and altho i love borderlands i cant help think gearbox are being an arse to PC gamers...

and thats before ive tried playing with anyone else :S

"Dust off" as if we haven't been continuously playing it since it came out =D

These were all patched and now work fine. Cars don't drive weird at all, it takes about 20 seconds to understand how they work.

Maybe the developers think it's been longer than it actually has since the full game was released. This was quick, but they've still not beaten Biowares day one record with Dragon Age.

Soon, the DLC will start getting released pre-emptively before the main game itself is even available.

I've no problem with that, as long as the "basic" version kicks ass. If DA:O's DLC adds 10 hours to a 100 hour game, I have zero objections to paying ten bucks for that extra ten hours (which is longer than most games).
People don't go apeshit because most cars don't have leather interiors which you can pay more to put in when the car is new, I see no problem with having the option of paying a few more bucks for extra content when it's just luxury items and a couple of side quests.
I know some people see this as a slippery slope and that soon we'll have to pay for every level in Mario, but those people need to be smacked in the back of the head and told to stop being dumbasses.

We already do, it's called episodic gaming...:) Note: Yes, I am aware there hans't been any episode Mario based gaming so far. Cynical comments aside, I also don't mind paying for (good) extra content for a game. I'm just used to it not being being released until a few weeks to a few months after the day of the vanilla games release, so the first time you pick up some day one DLC is bound to be a bit of a strange one.

My one gripe over the Soldiers Keep DLC is that once completing the quest, you can't actually go back into the keep itself. That was a bit of a pain, as I did have plans to go back and open all the locked chests I missed due to not having Leliana on my team at the time.

Sorry for hijacking your topic, Borderlands fans! Moving on...

Well maybe you should have rolled a Rogue Archer, like myself. Cleaned the place up from top to bottom. Still, would be nice to be able to go back like you can in almost every other place in the game.
Also we don't have episodic gaming. Having a complete Half Life game released every thirty two years is not episodic gaming, no matter how many "Episode: X" they put in the title.

Ha, released on my birthday. I have too many new games in my collection to turn to Borderlands just yet though.

Really Gearbox? I know this has been coming for a while, but couldn't you pick a better day to put this out? I really want to buy this day one, but I can't. I'm saving up for Black Friday, no money to spend until a few weeks from now. I really do want to play this day one, just I can't.
