Its the same hacks from CoD4, just run with the MW2 exe. Cod4 + MW2 have the same engine. All the "under the hood" stuff is the same. These hacks are old.
looks like cod 4 hacks. you'd think iw would have figured out how to block those by now.
That's a shame. And the sad part is that the hackers know that people are out there that will pay for it.
Wow, IW sure had a rock-solid defense against hacking there. Great job, guys.
I can't help feeling vaguely smug about the whole dedicated servers thing.
Wasn't one of the major arguments of IW that with IWNet we wouldn't have to worry about hacks or the likes?
So, matchmaking has been proven to be inferior and their own anti-hack system apparently doesn't work. My god, those chaps at EyeDub really know what they're doing, don't they.
Same here, this is just laughable. Especially since people say these are old hacks.
great to see we lost our dedicated servers support so they could stop hacking. this is hilarious
As far as I can see IWnet isn't anti cheat at all, just registration and stat tracking. Modern Warfare 2's using VAC as it's anti cheat. It's actually pretty effective, but only does it's ban thing at 30 days intervals, it's reliant on server side options (sv_pure) and admins to kick hackers instantly.
What a surprise! Made a thread on this earlier too. Honestly, who couldn't see it coming? Except like... a blind man or something. Or Caboose. Heh heh heh...
I remember hearing that MW2 uses VAC. If so, give it a week or 2 and he'll be banned.
DU TURK MAH WURDS! *coughs* I concur. Rock solid defenses there, IWNet.
Not so. Quote from here begs to differ.
The "As well as" implies that IWNet has anti-hack measures in place as well as VAC. Just that they're apparently worth fuck all.
This isn't going at all well is it? I think it's safe to say that IW have utterly cocked up the PC version of MW2. Not only did they loose several thousand consumers, but the ones that they do have are likely to get their games hacked to death. Not going well...not going well at all.
sweet IW gets a 1 under the win column... /sarcasm
oh man, oh man.... the joys of matchmaking services over dedicated servers... ya, i saw this coming. even if they do improve their anti cheating crap, you know it'll still have that delayed response on banning, meaning you'll have to tough it out in the game yer in or drop out and find a new one. doesn't really FIX THE PROBLEM. not when it matters, anyway.
I truly hope hacker make hacking this game their JOB, as IW even tries to to stop them, they adapt, and when IP bans start to surface, they start proxy'ing or something, to give player mopre LAG in addition to the h4x, and really just make IW regret trying to attack net neutrality by taking more control over the online aspect of the game.
All I have to do is laugh, and laugh, and laugh and laugh. See Infinity Ward? Valve Anti Cheat system is absolute crap.
All I know is you couldnt pull this type of nonsense back when multiplayer gaming was winner stays on Street fighter2...
true, any one who tries to control how i use something that i paid for deserves everything they get.
Ah just in time for Cox cable to switch IPs again. Assuming this guy has Cox. Really, I'm not that surprised at this. In my experience, games that don't have dedicated servers, for PC, tend to descend into anarchy. With the scope of launch that MW2 had, this seems like it will only accelerate the amount of hackers, with less people watching for them. IW does not have the manpower to compete with this.
See, if there were dedicated servers hackers would be kicked within 5 seconds. But without, you either have to quit and join another game, or deal with it.
As I've said before, get mad all you want, but IW doesn't care that they screwed up the PC version. The numbers are in, they win. Millions and millions of sales, more money than they could ever spend. Even Nintendo is jealous of that kind of paycheck. Feel as "smug" as you like, they're the ones laughing. Hackers can hack the PC version to death, its the one IW put the least work into and expected the least money from. XBox360 and PS3 owners are much less likely to hack and far more profitable when it comes to DLC. Not be "Mr. Negative" but I mean, you can't really just hold this up yelling "See! You're stupid!" They'll just fill another wheelbarrow full of money and laugh at you.
ugh I hate hackers they really do ruin a game...
Crunchy English, you nailed it.
The only way to solve is to further reduce the maximum number of players to 2v2 and run it through five extra IW servers! Or, y'know, you could just set up dedicated servers that would kick cheaters automatically. But that would actually be something functional, and we can't have that!
i love the idea of someone out there willingly and knowingly giving his credit card information to hackers, thats the kinda thing that makes me smile and feel superior. this news just made my day, granted the day began 1 hour ago, but in that hour i got killed in dragon age origins and i had forgot to save for awhile,so i rage quited and then i found out that my all new ps3 slim have some problems whit my tv because it looks "bloggy" and i noticed im out of ketchup. oh and i have class in 5 hours and im yet to feel sleepy, so thanks for the news, i really needed em. EDIT: wow that youtube movie sure did get removed fast.
Why don't all the private server mods jus-oh wait, they don't have them anymore.
There's no getting around it. The Pirates beat you every time. Arrggg!! EDIT: Oh wait, mis read, it's hackers. ...Tap-tap?
Video is down!!!! | |
This is what happens when you change something that has always worked and replace it with a control system that rips control from the user. Hopefully IW learns its lesson and puts dedicated server support back in MW3 or whatever is the next COD game.
*faceplam* Already? I can't believe they already have hacks in the game
Well it IS the same engine, most hacks are based on the ENGINE. It was just a matter of changing a bit of the code, add some protection, perhab obfusicate the code

Modern Warfare 2 Seemingly Hacked One Day Post Launch
Despite the game having been on store shelves less than two days, a newly released video seemingly proves that the anti-hacking technology Activision put into Modern Warfare 2 has been compromised.
Released by the group behind the CallOfDutyHacks.com website, the two minute YouTube clip shows an online match in which the player's character can see through walls, hit people from ridiculously long distances with inaccurate weaponry and, of course, fire magic bullets that pass right through solid objects. Typical hacker tricks, really.
The sad bit is that, if this clip is to be believed, Modern Warfare 2's IWNet anti-cheating system is yet another piece of hack prevention technology that simply didn't work. If someone wants to cheat in Modern Warfare 2 it won't be that difficult, and everyone who plays with or against that person will suffer as a result.
That said, perhaps the greatest deterrent to this hack becoming widespread is the CallOfDutyHacks.com website itself. The site's owners are charging $20 for the downloadable hack, and while I'm sure some morons will see no problem with handing over financial info to people who are attempting to profit off of unethical reverse engineering, hopefully most of you can see why that might not be a great idea.
