Ugh. ... Well it's a regular recreation! It bugs me. Animation looked good, though.
Meh not really into anime. And you have three hands?
Am I getting the feeling they've totally mixed up Dante with Orpheus?
I have to agree with you, if your going to use the name of an old franchise, you should be faithful to that franchise. Well in this case it's a story but the same principle applies. For example the American made Godzilla movie was pretty much a slap in the face to fans of the other movies. It's like they take the name just for the name and have the product be almost entirely unrelated. That being said this could be good, I just have to wonder why they called it that. Other than name recognition.
This looks like it'll accompany the game's release well, i for one enjoyed the anime film that came out alongside Dead Space, it explained the story more and was a good film in its own right too.
Looks badass. I hope it's longer than the average 1:30hr movie.
I may check it out mostly because I loved Ergo Proxy and it seems they had a hand in making this.
yeh i want to watch this since im such an anime freak. Say of course my alias here doesn't already indicate that <.<
It looks absolutely retarded. I wouldn't have cared either way if it was just another violence fetish anime, but why even pretend it has anything to do with Dante's Inferno? The same goes for the game.
And here I thought that a "breathtaking new vision" and an "utter bastardization" were two different things. Huh. Guess I learned something today.
Tales of the Black Freighter is one of the boldest anime films of all time? LOLWUT
Yay another anime tie-in to milk some cash out of the weeaboo fad
Actually, that brings up a good point. Why didn't they divide the circles of hell among nine directors, instead of calling upon six directors to direct the same story? Metaphorically, all they're doing is asking six chefs to bake the same cake. Wouldn't we rather have nine chefs making nine different cakes?
Sounds good. I really enjoyed the Batman series and The Animatrix. Hopefully this will present something similar.
What's a weeaboo? I'm an old person who doesn't know your young people slang.
I always thought it meant "spanking", but hey, I grew up in France. I'm actually looking quite forward to this even though it clearly wont be a patch on the divine comedy.
you know the funny thing about reading this is people complain about copyright and fair use and such and here is a prime example of how public domain stuff can be changed around and redone in a new and interesting way and yet people still complain about it i think it looks pretty cool and will probly get it, just like the game
I wonder how it would be if they made an anime version of God of War...
| |
no because the cake is a lie HAHAHAHHAHAHA BURN IN MY LAMENES!!! YOU ARE IN THE 13 CIRCLE OF HELL HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Why did they need to butcher the plot? Make it more palatable for the stupids?
They use to release video games first...then the anime tie-ins... Now, the studios can't even wait...
So tell me, does Beatrice show up in the actual game, too? I didn't see any mention of a woman in the game, apart from the demon women. And I also highly doubt that the original poem involved saving a (murdered) damsel in distress from the deepest circle of hell.
Gotta admit that had me chuckling.
I have to admit that I was planning on writing this off as trite garbage before I saw them mention that the director of possibly my favorite anime, Ergo Proxy, was involved. I may have to check this out after all.
I could definiately tell people from Samurai Champloo were involved. Kickass.
I don't like the way it looks right now. I dunno... maybe it's because the sound is off in that video but I just couldn't enjoy it.
This is where I slowly back away, right?...
Dante's Inferno Animated Trailer Still Inaccurate, Kind of Badass
Dante's Inferno will be joining Halo, The Matrix and Batman with its own collection of anime-style shorts that may not be completely faithful to Dante Alighieri's poem, but makes up for it with lots of gore.
Real quick: I highly recommend you go watch the video in high quality over at Eurogamer, since it looks a lot better there. But video quality aside, I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, the story portrayed here is about as faithful to Dante Alighieri's original poem as the Visceral-developed videogame is - that is to say, it isn't accurate at all. It's a cheesy-looking action bonanza with some clunky, cliched dialogue.
On the other hand, two of the directors working on the project did Ghost in the Shell and Samurai Champloo, respectively, and both of those are renowned as rather excellent pieces of modern animation. On the other, other hand, the trailer shows some guy getting his face chopped in half, and that's something I can totally get behind. Plus, the art direction (or at least what we can tell from this trailer) looks absolutely stellar.
I'm really not sure what to make out of it. Also, I'm curious how they handled divvying up the various circles of hell, since there are nine of those, but only six directors. I guess some of them just had to double up or something.
