Excellent, had no idea any DLC was planned tbh so this has come as a nice surprise : )
"What's with this guy and cranks?" Awesome line, at least Resident Evil know not to take thenselves seriously anymore. Although I think that started around RE4. OP: Sold my copy of RE5 so I won't be playing it.
Yay for resident evil... I need to buy the game again I guess.
Unless there's a level where you savagely murder Sheva Alomar with your bare hands, I refuse to pay capcom twice for a game they could have made right the first time.
"Psychiatrist's Diary- Patient: Evil, Resident Patient still refuses to accept and resolve current personality flaws. Has begun reminiscing about earlier glories and is indulging in old vices, but is becoming ever more self-referential, almost sarcastic in tone. I fear a lapse into cartoonish behavior. I will continue to recommend critical self-examination, acceptance of past sins, and a better control scheme."
Now to wait for the PC guys to storm in, waving their flags and shouting about how they get the blunt end of everything again... Anyway, i think i'll pickup the gold edition myself, i've not brought a resident evil game yet.
If gold edition contains the original game, then I'll definately pick it up. If not, well I did the smart thing and waited for it to find its way into the bargain bin, so I'm set.
these are those days I'm glad I traded all of my psp games for that pretty limited xbox edition that came with RE5.
I hate this game even more now.
Usually it's how DLC means a game is incomplete, and that DLCs should be free. I bet that's Mr. Eff's source of hatred. Free stuff, ah how I loathe thee.
Can't wait. I'm sure the new campaign is much more worth my money than the multiplayer was.... 5 dollars I'll never get back.
bawwing will commence in 3.....2.......1......... but unless I can run AND shoot at the same time, I doubt I will bother to even look at it, maybe the second un-named DLC pack, but only that, just a look.
why we had to wait 6 months for res 5 to come out anyway
I loved resident evil: 4 on the computer, even thought it was one of the worst porting jobs I have ever seen (quicktime events are really hard when you have to remember which keyboard key is mapped to the '3' button). I was thinking of getting resident evil 5 but I like the sounds of gold edition so i will almost definitely be getting it.
umm, its not one day exclusives. microsoft only releases new content on wednesdays, while sony only releases new content on thursdays. thats all it is really. in any case ill wait to see how they are first. while i enjoyed re5 it wasant the best game in the series.
I didn't get RE5 because I knew it wouldn't match up to RE4. But this gold edition I'll give a look see and maybe I'll pick it up. Might be close enough to smooth over my need for a good RE4 squeal.
Microsoft offers new content all the time. New Rock Band songs come out on Tuesday. Sony only updates on Thursday.
This is just awesome, if it does contain the original game plus the expansion I am sooo getting it. The Mercenaries Reunion thing sounds awesome!!!
Since when has Resident Evil been a PC game anyway?
Well, this has almost convinced me to actually buy RE5. Been wanting to see a version of RE1 with RE4's game play. Of course, I'll still wait to hear if it's worth the cash after it comes out, but still.
Shit. | |
In my experience it doesn't need to be, it just /happens/ to be that they're entitled to it. :P
Oh, sweet! Atleast I have a decent excuse for going back to Resi 5 now.
oh my god, i cant believe this, i sold the game to my dad last time i was visiting the family, the first thing that i see on inside xbox when i get back... >:0
Uhm, what? Spencer mansion got blown up at the end of Resident Evil 1.
Or it's just that they can one-up them since it seems to be pretty much a rule that PSN Content gets released Thursdays. I just can't imagine they pay money for an advantage on ONE DAY. But anyways, i'm looking forward to the DLC. Maybe we could hope that there will be new Mercenaries Levels included as well? (just sayin', they could just use parts of the new levels, so not much work there)
Nice to see some DLC is coming out for this Looking forward to going back to a mansion! Miss those mansions!
Different mansion. Spencer is a very rich man remember? He probably has a few dozen mansions. I might get RE5 just for this.
YES!the game was very lacking and i thoguht some DLC was in order now hearing that it returnes to the masion etc i think that could be one of the best REs yet. Okay its not going to be RE2 but it should still be fun. :P
Since September 30th 1997 When the very first RE was Put on PC. And since then every single RE game has been on the PC. Capcom was generally outsourcing all of their PC port jobs, and on occasion they got butchered, eg Devil May Cry 3 and RE4. Still, games like the origonal RE on PC had better textures and visuals etc. Capcom has gotten sick of the poor quality Port jobs of the people they outsourced to. So a little while back they made the MT Framework Engine, which is a PC based engine. And all of their latest games are actually made on PC first and ported to the consoles. Console versions get released first, and PC version gets released roughly 6 months later. Still, it's one of the reasons Capcom is climbing my list of favorite developers. The MT Framework engine is fantastic. It looks brilliant, runs super smooth, it's very well optimised. It's a good system that shows just why games should be developed PC first and ported to the consoles. It works very well that way for all systems, but not very well vice versa. I don't care if the PC version is released later or not. Anyway, in short, the answer to your question is, RE has been a PC game since the very begginng. Just like GTA and many other games. ^_^
I was just kidding :) | |
I might get it if they put the traditional RE zombies back in the game. Ill be looking forward to fight those in the new RE control style. *twiddles thumbs*
Okay, here's something I didn't pick up on in the first viewing. These two know what they're getting into. They're no strangers to Umbrella's shenanigans or Spencer's twisted architecture. They know there's going to be some nasty shit going down inside. So why are they only carrying Beretta 92FS handguns? I mean, seriously. Did the STARS community brain cell go up in the first mansion's explosion?
well... as i never bought the first one, this new golden edition will probably be worth it :P

Return to the Mansion With Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition
The Resident Evil 5: Gold Editon will send Jill and Chris to Ozwell E. Spencer's mansion, which is filled with zombies, secrets, and cranks.
If you haven't already heard about Resident Evil 5's upcoming expansion packs, here's the deal. The Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition was announced for Japan at the Tokyo Game Show 2009, which includes a spattering of new content. Capcom put it up for a vote whether the new content would come to other regions via disc only, or through DLC, and DLC won out. Capcom will also be releasing a physical disc called the Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition in both North America and Europe, but only for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as of yet (sorry PC gamers).
The first DLC pack, called Lost in Nightmares, will hit Xbox Live Arcade on February 17, 2010, and the PlayStation Network on February 18, 2010. This pack is reminiscent of the days of the original Resident Evil, and will put players in the shoes of Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine as they explore the catacombs beneath Ozwell E. Spencer's hideaway mansion, and hopefully end the business with all the cranks and emblems.
The second DLC pack will be released on March 3, 2010, for the Xbox 360 and on March 4, 2010, for the PlayStation 3. Microsoft must have paid Capcom off handsomely to get these one-day exclusives. This pack hasn't been named and no details are currently available, but it'll have something in it, something evil, and zombies or similar slow moving enemies may be involved.
Capcom is including its "Mercenaries Reunion" content along with each pack, which will include 8 new characters, costumes, and weapon load-outs. Strangely enough, only two characters will be included with each DLC pack, while all 8 will be available in the retail Gold Edition. If you don't have the internet, or don't own Resident Evil 5 yet, the Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition will be available in North American stores on March 9, 2010 for $49.99, and the European release will follow on March 12.
