Battle of the Brick: LEGO and Halo , Together at Last

It's not the LEGO Halo game you've been waiting for but the new promotional trailer for Battle of the Brick: Built for Combat, a short video scheduled to come out next year, is packed with violent little brick-shaped Spartans and that's pretty damn cool in my book.

I've never played any of the LEGO videogames myself, but I did sink a lot of time into real LEGOs when I was a kid and I still have a bit of a soft spot in my heart for them. So while a promo for some hypothetical LEGO Halo game wouldn't do much to turn my crank, a video of hot Halo action made entirely out of LEGO bricks is another story entirely.

And that's what Battle of the Brick: Built for Combat is, or at least will be: A 25-minute video of Halo action rendered entirely in LEGO. The creator, Alex Kobbs of Kobberz Studios, is no stranger to the art of bringing the disparate realms of Halo and LEGO together: His reproduction of the "Zanzibar" multiplayer map from Halo 2 attracted over three million views and was actually included in the Halo 3 Legendary Edition.

Nerdy? Of course. Entirely awesome? Oh yes. The full-length version of Battle of the Brick is expected to be ready for release sometime in 2010.

Wow, nice work on turning the Zanzibar map into lego.

Actually he should try using some of the new Halo Wars Mega Blocks sets.

That was amazing, can't wait for the full thing to come out. And I say that as both a Halo fanboy and as a Lego fan :D.

Mega Blocks (a competitor (to put it nicely) of LEGO, whose products are compatible with theirs) have made HALO sets available already - perhaps hoping to (further) cash in on LEGO... Glad I'm not a HALO fan, lest I be tempted to violate the AFOL creed and get them.

And here I was, clicking on this topic to say something about how the LEGO games are getting stale, with the same shit every game. (I still said it! HA!)

But this is pretty cool. I love LEGOs and wonder how a LEGO Ninja Gaiden enactment would work now, after remembering the LEGO Ninja series.

This is the greatest LEGO stop-motion video I've ever seen. By far. What is even more amazing is that this is only about 1/25 of the entire thing. I'll be keeping my eye out for this for sure.

He bought them from a lego internet thing. Can't remember the name though. Brick Forge me thinks. I've seen better stop-motions but this looks cool. I'm not suprised beccause I'm fimiliar with Lego Stopmotion.
