Bryan Singer to Direct New X-Men Movie

image

Bryan Singer, the guy who made the two good X-Men movies, is returning to the franchise to make X-Men: First Class.

Singer left the franchise after the second movie, going on to direct the less-than-awesome Superman Returns, leaving X-Men: Last Stand in the hands of Brett Ratner.

First Class is still in the very early stages of development, but will focus on the first meeting between Xavier and Magneto and the creation of the Xavier Institute. The script is currently being re-written by Jaime Moss, who worked on the Keanu Reeves movie Street Kings.

The question in my mind however, is who this first class will be. The original comic line up isn't going to happen as Iceman is too young, and they didn't meet Angel until the third movie. Will it be Storm, or some new character we have yet to see?

I would assume we'll have Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Emma Frost, Storm, and maybe Havok.

Could be good. I'm more excited for Deadpool though.

Who cares, as an x-men fan that WHOLE franchise was crap. Especially how they gayed up Nightcrawler, and always had one huge noticable mistake (like wolverines shirt healing itself, or nightcrawler in the pit before he even teleports there). They were all cornball, badacted garbage and paid no fan care as far as I'm concerned. Those movies are like games based off of movies. If they never make another one, it will be too soon.

If First Class is supposed to be an actual prequel to the trilogy, then yeah, it'll probably be Storm as the fourth member. If it doesn't need to follow the conventions, Iceman will most likely be cast.

But not the crappy twin of Jimmy Olsen please.

The biggest problem with the third one wasn't in the directing, though. It was piss poor dialogue. If you want the new one to be good, bring back David Hayter to write it.

P.S. Thanks

Sorry to be the first to point this out.

Patrick Stewart and Ian Mackellen are pretty good actors.

SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKEEE!!!!!

i guess i should say bring back David Hayter instead of SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKEEEEEE!!!! cause frankly i've never heard of the other guy and if he worked with Robo-Actor 5000, this script won't be that great

Dude

Dude. Close your tag.

I just really hope this movie doesn't suck. They have such a great premise to work with.

Someone's still nursing that boo boo on their tender fanboy spot because the movies didn't turn out exactly how they wanted them.

OT: At least Emma Frost will finally be in, but I always loved X Men 3, I never understood why people think its so bad.

I liked it when Juggernaut ran into the wall and knocked himself out.

I like when he said "AM THE JUGGERNAWT BITCH!" just before that bit.

Well, Singer can't really do any more damage to the franchise than Ratner and Origins did, so I'm fine with the thought. I really liked the first two films that he did, and I do think that Superman Returns was pretty decent, despite being about Superman. The third movie was just poorly written and way too anvilicious about its message of mutants=gays (or whatever group you choose to put in that role). A little subtlety goes a long way.

For the first Class I reckon they might have Banshee or maybe even Beast (before he turned blue).

Also i think it is a good idea to finally have an X-Men movie without Wolverine in it. (I like Wolverine but i think he has been over used).

I'd like to see some Magneto with Nazis, jah?

should be a good one

would they be continuing where the third left off... or are they just gonna search through the past more?

im not complaining since i would like to see movies of the backgrounds more :P

I would be too, but given the state of movie making lately, no director or writers will be able to pull off the humor.. especially when he breaks the 4th wall

$100 says they'll use it as excuse to reboot the franchise.

I think they've got the Zombieland writers, and Ryan Reynolds doesn't want to do it without the 4th wall stuff in there.

I totally agree with you that movies sucked.
They only did well because fans will go see them regardless of how much they screw it up.

Much the same here

They have to reboot the franchise since they had Jean kill most of the important characters.
GOD I hate Xmen 3.

Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Storm and Beast is my bet.

I wonder if Captain Picard and Gandalf the Grey/White( Patrick Stewart, Ian Mccelan) will be reprising their roles? Unlikely and unfortunate.

It's more or less implied that the first students in the X-Men films were Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm and Beast. From the ending of Wolverine it looks like Emma Frost will be one of the first students too.

Have they used Havok, or strong guy yet?

Team movies never, ever, ever work. The Maximum # of primary protagonists you can have while the audience still gives a shit is 3. BUT WAIT YOU SAY, WHAT ABOUT THE HOBBIT? WHAT ABOUT LORD OF THE RINGS?

Except, in the Hobbit, Bilbo is almost perpetually seperated from the dwarves during MOST of the dramatic bits. He gets seperated during the troll scene, goblin scene, in the forest, goes alone into Smaugs cave- he's the focus of the story, solo, and the dwarves are just a vehicle for him.

Meanwhile, Lord of the Rings starts with four characters (five if you count Gandalf), then add's a fifth (sixth if you count gandalf) then three more- except ONE of these is killed by the end of the first book, the hobbits split into two groups of two, and the characters people actually want to read about AKA Aragorn Legolas and Gimli (and later Gandalf) go off their own way, giving you THREE (theres the magic number again) focus's of narrative, and arguably the only characters of -real- focus are Aragorn and Frodo and the rest are supporting characters.

Avengers? It's going to suck. X Men movies? Sucked.

This one might work.

There is ONE exception. The Heist/Dirty Dozen situation. Oceans 11, Dirty Dozen (trope namer), etc, wherein you meet the characters one at a time and become introduced to them at the same time as the other characters are. No preconceived backstory, no continuity, just movie. This keeps the audience engaged.

Dear Fox, if you want me to see your X-Men movie:

YOU PEOPLE BETTER FUCKING PUT COLOSSUS IN IT!!!!

Seriously Fox, what the fuck is your beef with Colosuss? Did he kill your kitten when you were young?

They should just ignore the past 4 movies and just make "First Class" based on the actual freaking story. It'd be a lot better. Have it Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Angel, Iceman, Xavier, and Magneto. You can throw in Mystique and Juggernaut as well someone else as long as no one pulls any ridiculous appearances or plot twists in order to "re-invent" the series to a new audience.

I liked Bryan Singer's directing. I'll be eager to see the characters of this and the movie itself. I enjoyed the first X Men a lot.

As a fan I wasn't happy but I liked Origins because it allowed for DEADPOOL:THE MOVIE!
Hugh Jackman was a great pick for Wolverine though.
Them having a way to tie X-men to the current more canon (Cannon? I don't know how to spell) universe would be baller.

No prequels! Move forward with the story, damn it!

A lot of people thought X3 was bad? lol, I didn't even realize that. I thought it was great, but then again I like almost everything.
