We're all sick of talking about DLC at this point, but it's coming to Mass Effect 2 and some details may have already leaked.
Joystiq reports that Norwegian newspaper DagBladet has revealed some early details on Mass Effect 2 DLC. The post on DagBladet appears to have been removed, but the information has already been gleaned, and (SPOILER ALERT) thank heavens for Google cache. The information looks to have been leaked from an early posting to Xbox Live.
For the fairly spoiler free version, the rumored Mass Effect 2 DLC will include a new character named Zaeed Messani (pictured), a bounty hunter hired by Cerberus. He's in it for the dough, but who knows what other motivations he may have. New weapons and armor may also be available, along with a new planet that is significant to the life and times of Shepard after the end of the original Mass Effect. None of this is official, so please don't treat it as such.
The Mass Effect 2 collector's edition includes a "Cerberus Network card" that grants access to extra content, and it appears this "Cerberus Network" also has something to do with Mass Effect 2's DLC as an access portal of sorts. It might be best to wait for an official announcement to talk about the cost of any Mass Effect 2 DLC, but BioWare has responded to these leaks/rumors with a tweet: "BioWare will not be charging extra for any new Mass Effect 2 content on launch day. More DLC details next week." Seeing as next week will see the release of Mass Effect 2 on January 26, BioWare might be holding official details until then. If there is any day one DLC though, at least it'll be free like Dragon Age: Origins' Stone Prisoner (nevermind, Warden's Keep). Day two DLC, well that's anybody's guess.
UPDATE: I've been informed that the Cerberus Network card will also come with the regular version of Mass Effect 2.
Still pissed that I deleted my Mass Effect 1 save data and have to do ALL OF THOSE STUPID SIDEQUESTS AGAIN. Oh well, I'm playing a Vanguard (Pistols+Shotguns+Biotics) so that combat is as great as can be, thanks to the ability to lift an enemy into the air and pump him full of shotgun blasts while he's helpless.
Free DLC for people who buy the game early sounds good to me. Helps the loyal customers with free content, and helps slowly drain money away from evil resale companies.
This Zero day DLC stuff really burns my bacon, everything about it is wrong. Soon all games will be like Evony, the game itself is free, but if want to be able to do anything you have to pay an arm and a leg for it.

But on the plus side, we'll get boobs and innuendo.

You know, I hadn't considered that, maybe one of the free DLCs will be like a partial nude patch like with Saboteur.
It also looks very pretty. Like, "my eyes are bleeding it's so good." So long as they keep a good value for the buck, I suppose I'll probably be in. The whole DLC card thing seems to be the new thing at the moment.
jmoore4ska: The "Cerberus Network Card" comes with all new copies of ME2, not just the collector's edition.
Just for clarification.
This. The card DOES NOT just come with the CE. It comes in all brand new copies of the game. Bioware have also already said on their forums that the day one DLC will be free. From the Cerebus Card description on the Mass Effect website we can see the day one DLC does indeed consist of this character, new locations, and weapons/armor.

So Google not only cached this no longer available page, but also made a near flawless translation from Norwegian to English so that English speaking people could read it? And it did all of this automatically?
Damn, major props Google.
If only flesh and blood translators could do such a good job. Unfortunately, they often can't, and we are left with phrases like: "All your base are belong to us".
jmoore4ska: Also, to address those concerned about day-one DLC.
If you've got the card (which comes free with all new copies, as i said) the day-one DLC is free.
It's just a way to encourage the sales of New copies, since they don't see any revenue from used game sales.
Exactly, I think it is a clever way to make sure you buy a copy that actually gets them money, rather than getting a used copy that they make no cash from.
That said, it sucks that they found a clever way to make us buy new copies, but you have to give them some props for the intelligence behind it. After all, I will always be getting Bioware games on Day 1 anyway.
