Castle Crashers Dev Reveals New Game

Castle Crashers Dev Reveals New Game

Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers developer The Behemoth has formally unveiled Battleblock Theater, its next cartoonishly-gory XBLA action game.

The Behemoth has really made a little niche for itself with the formula that produces games like Alien Hominid and Castle Crashes - Step One: Start with colorful, 2D cartoon characters. Step Two: Add fun, addictive co-op action. Step Three: Add some fun, over-the-top violence, and it all comes together rather well in the end.

Well, the formula ain't broke, and The Behemoth sure ain't fixin' it for its third game, Battleblock Theater. The trailer, as seen above, tells a simple story: You are shipwrecked on an island, betrayed by your best friend Hatty, and forced to compete in lethal games for the amusement of the local populace. There's a bunch of quick snippets of gameplay, and from what we can see it looks like a really quick, violent co-op action platformer. Which should be fun.

Oh, and extra points for the music, guys.

The Behemoth will be unveiling more about the game via its Developer Blog, so stay tuned.

Interesting, very interesting.

I would like to try this game out now. Oh well, I'll be patient.

When is it coming out??????????????????? *nerdrage*

...what's that weird noise in the end?

OT: Wee, can't wait.
Seems awesome

Hmmmm, this doesn't look that good...

Dammit, I was looking forward to it.

I loved Alien Hominid on the PS2, and I haven't tried out Castle Crashers because I don't have an Xbox. I hope that this comes out on PS3, for sure.

Cant wait for CC on the psn. Cant watch the vid becuase im at school but I hope this also releases on the PSN.

Looks like fun.

The graphical style, music and concept are all fantastic. The game-play itself looks kind of disappointing though, it looks more like Super Smash Brothers than anything else.

I was hoping for a more unique twist/style of game-play than is shown in the trailer.

Looks like another surefire hit, I still play Castle Crashers to this day.

Hopefully they'll pull the music from their website again, there's some talented artists on there.

Castle crashers is amazing so i will defiantly get this :D

Brilliant. Really looking forward to this.

I loved the charming nature of Castle Crashes and this looks to have the same pull with the wuv-able looking characters. Also the arena in Castle Crashers wasn't great and I tended to just just co-op adventure but from what I've heard this sounds like a multiplayer gold mine.

Can't wait until it comes out.

Looks like a combination of Soldat and Smash Bros\Subspace Emissary.

Knowing the qualities of their other games, this seems extremely promising.

This game is great way to save money.

Step 1.)Buy it and play co-op with somone.

Step. 2) Keep screwing them over, get punched in the face and you dont have to buy them birthday presents any more.

Im still getting it though.

Alright! Go Tom!
That's 3 games!
And still no sequels in sight...

Loved the castle crusher game, so cant wait to see what else they have for us!

the only reason ive kept me 360 for the last year is CC and nothing else, and the only reason i dont plan on selling it soon is cause of this game

I just read that Castle Crashers is scheduled for a PS3 release. Score! I'm very happy now, to say the least.

It looks like pure Awesomesauce...

Way to go Dan and Tom! This is gonna be an awesome game!

Meh. Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers were ok, but repetitive. What appears to be puzzle-solving in this one reminded me of 'Splosion Man, but not as funny. I'll try the demo, but I'm not on the edge of my seat waiting for this one.

Hehe, I love the little bit of scat at the end, that may just be what leads me to buy this. :) Never played Alien Hominid or Castle Crashers, but this looks pretty damn awesome. I'm interested in seeing how the theatre aspect of the storyline in integrated into gameplay as well, like if you get to perform certain real-life plays in a sick, twisted platforming fashion.

Awesome, I want it.

Looks interesting, may get it. Love the little bit they did at the end.

Been following this since it was barely announced as game #3. Can't wait.

PS: The Top Hat guy always experiences two emotions at once. That's why he's the crazy villain!

Thank god, I have been waiting for more information on this. The game looks like a bit of a clusterfuck, but at the same time mind-blowingly fantastic. I cannot wait.

I'm always looking for competitive co-op games. That four-player Zelda from a while back was some of the most fun I've ever had, and this looks to be in the same school of thought: that is, you must cooperate in order to progress, but the game is geared in some way that makes dicking over teammates both fun AND beneficial.
