In EA Sports' annual simulation of the celebrated American football contest, the New Orleans Saints narrowly defeated the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV by a score of 35-31.
Every year since 2004, EA Sports runs a simulation of the Super Bowl using the team's current roster and statistics. The simulation has correctly predicted the outcome of five out of the last six Super Bowls, including last year when it was prescient enough to know the score plus or minus 1 point and even nailed a few individual statistics. This year, the Madden 2010 simulation accurately predicted who would win both the AFC and NFC Championship games and their final scores within a margin of only 3 points.
If the simulation is correct this year, the Super Bowl looks like it's going to be pretty entertaining. It may even draw your attention away from the advertisements and the Nachos Supreme, for a little while anyway. After 3 quarters, the Saints only led by 3 points, 24-21. Despite a passing touchdown by Peyton Manning to Joseph Addai, the Saints prevailed in the fourth quarter due to a Reggie Bush 42-yard punt return for a touchdown and Drew Brees hitting David Thomas for an 11-yard touchdown pass. Final score: 35-31 Saints. Brees wins the MVP.
In related news, the 16th annual Madden Bowl goes down tonight on Xbox Live. 8 NFL players meet up to play a single elimination tournament in Madden 2010 on the Xbox 360, with this year's field including Chad Ochocinco (Cincinnati Bengals), Chris Johnson (Tennessee Titans), Maurice Jones-Drew (Jacksonville Jaguars), Jared Allen (Minnesota Vikings), Andre Johnson (Houston Texans), Patrick Willis (San Francisco 49ers), Miles Austin (Dallas Cowboys).
Noticeably absent from that list are the last two year's winners, Baltimore Ravens Willis McGahee and Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Antonio Bryant. The throne is empty. Who will be crowned the king of Madden Bowl 2010?
Interesting... I don't follow football, but if that is hw it goes down then that will be one great game. I can't wait, not only for the commercials and the food, but this potential upset.
My brother and I used to set all of the participants on the Megadrive version of the WWF Royal Rumble game to CPU controlled and try and bet on the winner. Ah, good times.
Babrook: So...did the Madden simulation have Freeney playing?
Good question. He's probably the best defensive player the Colts have, and they'll need the pass rush to slow down Brees.
Pyromaniac1337: I will laugh at all you people when the Colts win.
... Wait, I'm CANADIAN, why the FUCK do I care about negative IQ jocks breaking each others' bones for no reason?
Negative IQs are impossible. :(
I am hoping for the Saints, I mean, if you see how New Orleans is ecstatic since they've never even -been- to a superbowl, let alone won one, and their team used to be nicknamed the "Ain'ts" and fans showed up to games with paper bags on...they've come a long way, I guess.
This page is going to turn into a large war of words on Sunday XD!!!!! But I say Saints win. Not only do they have a great team, and everyone should know the taste of Super bowl victory!
Oh i have to say it again. Colts 34 Saints 17...dont care what this has to say, it doesnt factor in how crapy the saints have been playing and how lucky they got against the vikings...also vegas has the colts winning soo um yea...they have more to lose. The vegas line started above 3 from the get go, if the wise guys had any confidence in the saints winning it wouldnt have gone over...its around 5 1/2 - 6 now.
My copy of Madden NFL 10 also predicted a Saints win on a last-second field goal. The Colts pretty much dominated the game for the first quarter-and-a-half and were up 16-0 when the Saints came roaring back with long touchdown passes to Devery Henderson and Pierre Thomas. They basically out-Manning'd Peyton Manning.
Final: Saints 31, Colts 29. MVP is Drew Brees, with 279 passing yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Screw Fetusface Manning and his humorless commercial veneer. I wanna see Brees take home the Lombardi!

hahahh... Vegas line. Someone doesn't remember how badly St. Louis was favoured over New England and the then unknown Tom Brady emerged a hero.
On a side note: Does any one know which of the last six years it predicted incorrectly?

Yes yes...but this is Peyton Manning we're talking about. Well and good for the saints to have gotten here (i honestly could care less about the katrina thing) but this time their poor play will come back and bite them in the ass, the vikings gave that game away. No two ways about it. I would take manning with two weeks preparation over any team the way he is playing right now.

Have you ever actually played the sport? It's fun.
Yes, I did. Once. I ended up in pain for the next three weeks.
And it was TOUCH FOOTBALL.
Dude, thats pretty pathetic.
Oh, right, I forgot that it's a mortal sin to not be a muscle-bound jock who's only aspiration in life is to play in the NFL. I forgot that it's a sin to be me, even if that means not being into sports. Please forgive me O All-Knowing One!
