Queen's legendary lead guitarist Brian May may have accidentally confirmed the existence of a Guitar Hero: Queen scheduled for next year.
Speaking with Swedish news site DN while in town for the tour of Queen-based musical "We Will Rock You," the guitarist-and-sometimes-astrophysicist apparently let slip an interesting bit of information: A Guitar Hero game featuring his famous band is in the works.
According to translations provided by Kotaku forum members, May says that the game is scheduled to be out next year, will feature the music of Queen (duh), and will "let players really experience a Queen concert."
If true, this could be a fairly big development for the Guitar Hero franchise, which has had to make do with bands like Metallica, Aerosmith, and Van Halen while competitor Rock Band got the freakin' Beatles. There is already a Singstar: Queen game (that we here at The Escapist are fond of breaking out at parties), but come on, how awesome would it be to be able to play the iconic drum beat at the beginning of "We Will Rock You"?
I can't wait to sing the opera part of "Bohemian Rhapsody," myself. It better have harmony support.
OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(if you haven't guessed I am a MASSIVE Queen fan, my last avatar proved it.)
Hm, this is one band-specific game I might actually be getting. I'm still really waiting for Guitar Hero (or Rock Band, I don't care) Red Hot Chili Peppers though. Someone make it already!
Meh, the only thing that excites me about this is when I imagining Bobby Kotick's face when he find out that queen talked to the press. :P And as a Swedish resident I have to say that this is the first time for quite some time that Dagens Nyheter(DN) have some news that I care about.
Edit: Also... Queen? Don't they make really wimpy songs about riding bicycles and stuff like that? Why don't they make any guitar hero about any giid bands, as Guitar Hero: In Flames, Guitar Hero: Killswitch engage or Guitar Hero: Metal?
I guess I shouldn't be surprised, everyone loves to make money, and the Guitar Hero series makes a lot of it. I'm still tired of it though.
well, you could say that its "just another Guitar Hero game", but ironicly, its one that people have actually been wanting since LEGO Rock Band. [hint, LRB had Queen as a playable band]
on that note:
Finally, Guitar Hero has finally proven itself worthy of one or two more games.
all I can say though is: "I want to ride my bicycle......"

...Wait, you're dissing Queen, but at the same time, asking for a Guitar Hero game based around KSE?
Gabanuka: OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FUCK YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Massive doesn't even begin to describe how big of a fan i am.
Queen is my all time favorite band. I hate music games but FUCK I AM SOOO BUYING THIS!
Haha, after reading the article on DN I felt that I had to share the best part with you IN ENGLISH!
Next year Brian May launches a new version of computer game Guitar Hero.
- We have invented a way of allowing game users to attend during our concerts, but I can not say more than that now. It's a secret.
That creates a image in my head of Brian as that stupid kid that tells every one about secret tings and ends with "But I can't tell you more about that, it's a secret" or "but keep it a secret."

Obviously, you haven't heard much Queen. Brian May is the guitar god's guitar god. The man was a monster. He built his guitar from scratch with his bare hands because no other guitar that already existed could possibly channel his ferocity adequately.
Besides, to diss Queen as a band worthy of the Rock Star treatment and then suggest Killswitch Engage? What are you, eleven? That's like walking up to the Rental counter at Hertz, and saying, "That Mercedes you rented me is lame. Don't you have any REAL cars back there? What can you show me in, say, an Escort?"

Killswitch was a bad example. What I asked for is a guitar hero/rock band game with metal songs.
I heard in this months issue of OPM that a Red Hot Chili Peppers GH is in the works. I really don't know which to believe but I really don't care as both would be awesome and those are two of the only bads that I would really wanna play in guitar hero fashion. Some bands just don't suit it but Queen most certainly do.

I myself am excited for a Queen game. It's about time they made one.
Well, if you want to get technical, there was The eYe, way back in 1998. It was a horrible, HORRIBLE game released in one or two countries. The only redeeming factor was the game discs could be popped in your CD player for instrumental versions of their songs (even obscure ones like "Dragon Attack").

I love metal but queen surpases all... For me there songs were the first I heard that i liked.

Thanks for that. He used 'wimpy' and 'Queen' in the same sentence. Someone had to put him in his place.

It was terrible huh? That's too bad because it sounds intriguing. It has kind of a Running Man/Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome/Killroy was Here vibe going for it.
DO WANT! I would play the shit out of that - even though I've never played guitar hero before.
OOOOooooOOOO I'M BURNING THROUGH THE SKY YEAH! TWO HUNDRED DEGREES THAT'S WHY THEY CALL ME MISTER FAHRENHEIT I'M TRAVLING AT THE SPPED OF LIGHT I WANNA MAKE A SUPER SONIC WOMAN OUT OF YOU
P.S. Freddie Mercury didn't die of AIDS, he died because his body could no longer contain how awesome he was.

It was a real disappointment. When it was announced, I was beyond ecstatic. Two of my favorite things -- Queen and video games -- together at last! But unlike Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, the game left a horrible taste in my mouth.
The gameplay was below average, and you really only knew what was going on because of what the box said. Seriously, there was very little dialogue, no clear sense of what was going on, no direction, etc. I played through it three times, completely in denial that my favorite band lent its name and music to a rotten game.
Oh well. The afore-mentioned music made up for it, and it's something of a unique piece of memorabilia.
