I laughed and I laughed hard.

What a great way of putting DRM in a game.

Brilliant DRM. But like others have said, who pirates dating sims?

Funniest story for a long while. I can imagine people chugging away for a good while before they realised somehting was wrong. "Why won't she LOVE me? :("

Finally good DRM!!!!! YES!

Right in the gonads. Good show.

Now this is how you do a DRM. It doesn't out right block you, but it utterly hummilates you if you are a pirate. I hope they never crack this one.

I still think that this would be the best anti-pirating measure every if they had this play when you start up the game:

Moral of his story:

Get a real girlfriend, goddamnit. Seriously.

[insert dig at Ubisoft DRM here]

I'm very much on board with creative DRM like this, if you must put that kind of thing in the game at least make it funny!

To be honest, I think hearing that anthem would make pirates even prouder of themselves, so no.

Those Japanese sure have humor. This is a fun DRM that doesn't put you off from buying the game unlike some other DRMs I know.

Sick sick burn. Although some could say it's just got a lot more realistic ;)

Dorkmaster Flek:
That's almost as awesome as the Arkham Asylum gimped Batman DRM. Or the Earthbound, massive enemy spawn + final boss freeze and save game delete DRM. I don't think anything is going to beat that one.

That was pretty awesome^^
Although, I do like GTA's permanent acceleration(once you press the accelerator, it locks on). [Car's also become insta damaged so the next crash = Boom].

Creative DRM is Creative.
...I know I can do better next time.

WanderFreak:
Ha, win is win.

More companies need to do this. You hear me Ubisoft? Instead of having someone have to remain connected to the net, have a sub hunter hit them with depth charges constantly. Have Ezio miss the hay bale and face plant into the ground. Have some creativity.

Are you kidding? I would pay money to see Ezio faceplant into the ground!

That's All Folks!

Until they notice they can't go forward with the porn game they pirated.

i like the average DRM.

pirate installs game.

Game: right, you just need to punch in the obvious code on the back of the manual, and you can haz fun.

pirate: f*** you game i have a crack.now lemme play online.

game: nah,im not letting a pirating basterd like you play online.see ya.

pirate: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Somebody seems to be mad, but I'm laughing over here.

Oh, this Monday may be good yet.

Deofuta:
Holy Fricking BRILLIANT!

Give the man who thought this idea up a cookie, he certainly deserves it.

HAHAHHAHHAHHAHHAHAHAAAHAHAHHAHAHAHHHAHAHHAHAH HOLY FREAKING GOD MAN! a dating video game? are gamers that lonely? Go to a bar ya lazy bastards, not that hard to talk to women(unless your a complete coward in which case enlist and try to grow a pair)

.....People are fuckin stupid...this is hilarious, but wtf, who plays dating sims?

That for a change is a cool DRM.

You see to have DRM methods and effects mixed up. This still uses standard DRM methods to stop pirates, but the effect, rather than simply blocking the game, is to affect what happens in it.

I want to know how it's DRM actually registers it's pirated. From what I've heard (literally, not "My.. Uh.. Frend") pirating DS games isn't exactly hard.

Just because someone needs to say it, 4chan is the bastard offspring of 2ch and american tweens. Not the other way around. 2ch is closer to, well, this place than anywhere else, as due to cultural differences (read: every japanese kid not being treated like the second coming), its actually closer to places that force people to be accountable for their actions.

Not to say 4chan wasn't like 2ch at one point (waaaay back), but now its saying a pile of shit is haute cuisine because its on the same plate.

As for rom copyprotection, once someone finds it, someone cracks it. Not to mention the earthbound copyprotection was kinda pointless, as everyone playing those games on emulators uses savestates rather than in-game saves.

I LOVE anti-piracy measures like this. They just make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Omg how i wish we had screencaps of the pages of RAGE this surely caused in the 4chanian population <3

Pretty funny, shades of "Arkham Asylum" and it's gimp Batman. :)

Though in the end I think we'll just wind up with more savvy hackers once they wind up figuring out the tricks generally used for such things.

Still, I needed a good laugh today, thanks to the guys who thought this up.

This is how DRM should be handled. Not the BS that Ubisoft does. They need to get creative, not totalitarian.

It's a shame they are easy to circumvent. PSP pirating thing is still going strong. Now the games are just often hex edited or patched so they work.

This is DRM I can actually support, and I never thought I would say that.

Freaking hilarious. This is great stuff! I wish more companies did little things like this! It doesn't kill me as a "good guy", and it makes great news!

that is coolest DRM so far. man, and i thought batman arkham asylum giving them a gimpy batman was bad...

This is how a DRM should be, in other word totally fucking awesome!

The best part of real life. Most girls won't hate you for being a pirate.

Even as someone who supports piracy, I have to admit this is pretty fucking funny.

Haha, priates just got owned. They should do that with other DRM's somehow...

Yes.
YES.
YEEEESSSSS!
This is Brilliant!

Let hope that more DRM like this is brought in to quell the pirates by not making the game harder to hack, but miserable for Pirates to play.

I LOL'd when I got a visual of Ezio diving off of one of the really tall watch points, falling for like 2 seconds and POW smacks the ground.

WIN!
