A new fan-made map for Left 4 Dead 2 combines Indiana Jones, Disneyland, and zombies. Spoiler alert: It's pretty epic.
By and large, fan mods and custom maps are a mixed bag when it comes to quality. Every now and then, though, something comes along that just amazes. Submitted for your approval, I give you "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Zombies," a map that faithfully recreates Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye from Disneyland. The "free ride" bonus mode is a zombie-free trip through the map, as seen in this video.
This is the second time an awesome Disney-themed map has popped up for Left 4 Dead 2. The first time something like this was created, it was with a map based on Pirates of the Caribbean.
I worked at Disneyland for a couple of years, and went on the Indiana Jones attraction more times than I should probably admit. While the line queue isn't entirely the same as the real thing (though a number of details are right), the map with the actual ride is surprisingly accurate, right down to the giant snake that lunges for the car about halfway through.
If someone wants to continue the tradition of adapting Disney rides for Left 4 Dead 2, I'm sure fans would love to play through an undead-filled version of The Haunted Mansion (without Eddie Murphy).
I'd love to see this sort of thing based on Universal Orlando. Went there when I was on holiday in Florida last year, loved it much more than Disney, and there were some really great places to create something like this from (the Jurassic Park area in Islands of Adventure, and the Mummy rollercoaster and queue in Universal Studios, are the two that stand out for me...).

YES! I was just about to post this! The spider-man ride would also be awesome.

I remember when I saw the Fire Axe near one of the train stations and noticing all the defibrillators all over the park made me hope a L4D2 map would be made. I gotta find more of these videos cuz this map is looking really great.
Also Mike, there is a custom map with the haunted mansion in it.
Wel... sorta. I looked it up after you mentioned it to me and it has the same basic layout and elements, but it doesn't feature the audio like the Indiana Jones map and the layout isn't quite the same. Also, it looks pretty shoddy compared to the other two maps I mentioned.

There is a map of the Haunted Mansion ride. It's for L4D1. It is the second map of this campaign. http://www.l4dmaps.com/details.php?file=1693 It's called "Night Terror", it also has the mansion from 28 Days Later, the mines of Moria, A jungle temple from Tin Tin's "Prisoner's of the Sun" I think, and the cabin from Evil Dead.

Deofuta: I LOVE maps like this. They were hugely prevalent in Team Fortress Classic. Sometimes it is just fun to goof off instead of play the game :)
Also, what did you do at Disneyland, might I ask?
I worked on the Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes.
Niiiiceeeee.
Now that you are on the East Coast, have you been to Disney World? If you have, which do you prefer?
I've been to both, but I like them for very different reasons. Disneyworld has a lot of great stuff, with tons of room for expansion. Disneyland, on the other hand, has more history associated with it. Plus, I spent two years working there, so I have a lot of fond memories from all over the park and some of my best friendships came out of my time there. So, I'm biased.

Or the new Harry Potter ride and area? Seriously, if some more, erm, magical things happened there, it'd be awesome. Actually, if I had L4D2 on my computer instead of my Xbox, I'd start work on a campaign going through the entire place (Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Citywalk, all those places), and who knows, maybe I'd have the place set up for their Halloween event. That would be awesome.
Awesome map, but I'm expecting C&D letter from the killjoy lawyer squad Disney keeps on retainer to sue evil people who infringe on their copyright... like this dude and daycare centres
