Deus Ex Has Its First Human Revolution With Yahtzee

Square Enix will be showing off Deus Ex: Human Revolution in public for the first time at Yahtzee's Mana Bar.

When it was announced that Duke Nukem Forever was going to be playable at Yahtzee's Mana Bar in Brisbane, Australia, I was a little sad that the establishment was located so far away. Now that Square Enix has announced it'll be bringing Deus Ex: Human Revolution to the Mana Bar for the game's world first public appearance, I think I'm going to have to move.

Choosing your plan of action through the various situations of Deus Ex's futuristic world could only become more fun by doing it with friends and getting a little tipsy (if you're of age) at the same time. If you're lucky enough to live in Australia, Square Enix will be allowing this to happen with the game on display at the Mana Bar this Saturday, October 23.

Whether the game will be playable or not isn't clear, but Square Enix did announce that it'll be holding a demonstration of Human Revolution starting at 7pm, followed by an exclusive video from the developers. There will also be various Deus Ex competitions, with prizes given away throughout the day.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the third Deus Ex title, but it takes place 25 years before the first. Deus Ex, originally designed by Warren Spector and released in 2000, became known for its RPG-like gameplay implemented within a first-person shooter that gave players the freedom of choice in many situations. One could run-and-gun, sneak through vents and strategically take out enemies, or hack into enemy robots to cause chaos.

Square Enix has Deus Ex under its control after acquiring Eidos last year. Human Revolution's trailers look absolutely gorgeous but we haven't seen too much of its actual gameplay yet. Maybe some helpful Australians can fill the rest of us in on what Square Enix shows off this weekend, if they don't get too drunk to remember the demonstration.

I have confidence in the game to turn out well. I want to see the stealth, but stealth doesn't look as good in trailers.

i live in australia, but the mana bar is still far away.
i LOVE the first deus ex, and personally all hope i have for human revolutions after invisible wars is hope originating in the part that WANTS TO BELIEVE!

My bags are packed, I'll tell you how it went.

Looks like I need to visit Australia soon.

I gotta say, the fact that the game devs and teams are bringing their demos to a smaller venue and, if you think about it, to the gamers almost, it's nice to see. I doubt Activision or EA will fly to Australia, when EA's taking 10 extra from us and Activision is busy waiting for us to let our guard down so they can eat our children, but to see venues such as a game bar get exclusive demos says a lot.

Hopefully we'll get our own Mana bars around the world to go to, I know how I'd spend my 21st birthday, drinking and playing guitar hero, occasionally whipping out my laptop for a little escapist conversation before some shots.

Holy fucking shit!
I NEVER KNEW YAHTZEE WAS THIS POPULAR!

Here's a decent chunck of pre-alpha gameplay:

Can't wait for this at all.

What he said, it appears he is quite the celebrity.

Also i'm curious how much candid criticism he will give them. If they received it before releasing the game it might be of some use.

Wow, now that's some status I don't care what anyone says.

What's so important in Yahtzee┬┤s bar that's becoming so popular to show off new games lately? It's not as it's Australian's gaming expo or something... it's just a bar for god's sake!

Also, I can't wait to see some actual gameplay footage of this game!

You know those guys whose labors he slags of on a weekly basis? Yeah, they all watch his show religiously. From the horse's mouth.

I always had a feeling that that place would eventually morph into a sort of hot spot for all things game-related. This is good news, not only because I was right, but because it's good to know that the average Joe can still do well by himself if he applies some cleverness and elbow grease in the right spots. Kudos, you British-cum-Aussie vitriol pump.

Damn it Yahtzee, you better turn that bar into a hotel, I'm moving in!

Your avatar is the most creepily awesome thing ever.
OT: God I envy Australia at this point.

If Yahtzee ever turned the Mana Bar into a chain, I'm pretty sure it would bring about World Peace. And the game looks alright to.

Not that I can profess to truly know Yahtzee's personality, but based on what I've seen, the more closely they hug him (keep your friends close, your enemies closer) the more he's liable to lash out against them.
So it will be interesting indeed to see the reviews he lavishes on the games after they're previewed at his locale.

Will he hug back, or will he knee them in the nads when they get into range?

Wait, a game by Square is having Yahtzee host it? I know he liked Deus Ex, but still, I feel there's a bit of irony here.

That's it, I'm moving to Australia. The Mana Bar is gonna be the E3 for the public.

It seems ike the Mana Bar is well on its way to becoming a new annual game show.
Good for Yahtzee and Pals.

Hmm....should I go? Mmmm...not this time. It's fun watching you all squirm with jealousy though :D

*Leans back with a massive grin* Now you all know how it feels to be an Australian only getting to read about all the gaming expos in the states.

The Mana Bar = the new E3

And a thousand hard-drives have Deus Ex re-installed on them yet again...

Hmmm, maybe I'll open a gaming bar...

Dear Lord, I'm surprised Yahtzee is getting so much love from these game companies. I mean... it's Australia. Not known to be lovers of M-rated games.

Anyway putting my mature hat back on, it seems that his bar seems to be gaining popularity. I would love to go and visit it but I lack the flying skills or money to get there.

Seems so, who knows, maybe he'll soon start a yahtzicon to replace e3

...Yea pretty much that.

Well, he did essentially get two major studios to bow to his slightly sadistic personality.

Plus, I wonder if they'll realize that this kind of stuff will probably only make him rip into the games harder?

Hopefully this also means an upcoming ZP to review the game.

inb4:everyone moves to Australia

BTW i'm drunk, yaaaaaaayyyyyy

The original Deus Ex sits comfortably in between Silent Hill 2 and Portal on my list of best games ever made, so I'm quite happy about this installment. But really, why would anybody want to show off a new product AT A FUCKING BAR? I don't care who owns it, a bar is not a place where one shows off any new products that do not involve alcohol and/or its consumption in some way. Or maybe I'm just jealous because an Aussie twat gets to host a game I've been looking forward to for quite a while...

It's official, Yahtzee is the undisputed king of the internet.

Huh.

Maybe I should start being a massive prick, it seems to have done Yahtzee well.

Dang it, I'm stuck here in Canada. Oh well, I can dream about visiting the Mana Bar someday...

Also this is a pretty impressive event for the bar. I predict this will bring Yahtzee and friends some more money. Maybe he'll buy more hats!

This is exactly what I was thinking. Square Enix is a really good sport I guess...
