Well, this is it. I can't get 4-1. No, really. I CAN'T GET 4-1. Why? I guess I'm too stupid.

I thought this would be a fun mental exercise. I thought if I put enough effort into it, I could do it. I guess I was wrong. Now, every time I think about this site, I'm going to remember that I'm a failure. I'm going to remember how I got hints and tips and guidance, and I STILL couldn't figure out 4-1. It doesn't matter if someone tells me the answer or not, the point is I'm just not good enough to figure it out on my own.

Thanks for that, Escapist. Thank you for adding yet another thing to the increasingly long list of my shortcomings.

Dude, let me offer some hints. Can you see the hidden letters?

NO. The colors come out wrong. Some don't come up at all. The Starcraft code does nothing. My Laptop is crap and I have no idea how to use my browser's preferences.

I got not one, but two different set of code answers from other forum members and NEITHER worked for the decoding process. NEITHER. They both give gibberish. I have no idea where to go from there.

I know nothing about codes and encryption. All I know is I failed.

I... I forfeit. You wanted to break me, huh? Well, you did it. You finally did it. Did it make you feel better? Smarter? Superior? Well, it made me feel awful, stupid, and insignificant.

Well, ignoring the different colors part, did you hit ENTER before and after the Starcraft code? I kinda had to do that for mine. I don't know about browser preference issues, though.

Got it. Finally. I got it a while ago, but I entered it wrongly then...

Here's a thing of hints for day 5... and they're all one word/symbol, because I want to be vague. :D

The day is over, the quest is done, and all's right with my world. Thank you to everyone who posted. I wouldn't have gotten half of these right without all of your help.

OK, i am feeling quite dense at the moment. I get to the page on amazon and loose the path from there. I have not yet gotten to the page with all these mathmeticians everyone is mentioning.

one word.......

help

Day 5 is quickly becoming an excercise in frustration. I must've typed in the answer at least 25 times by now and nothing :(

That was...satisfying. Thank you admin people! If anyone wants me to send them the solutions...

Roll on adventure 2!

GOTCHA!

I started working with the wrong code at first, because I missed a tentacle....

So. What kind of Escapist Swag are we doing this for, anyway? :D

Ok, finally finished. Thank you to everyone who put hints up over the past five days, I wish I could have reciprocated, but I simply haven't the knowledge for it

Day 5 was mighty frustrating, I was trying the answer for ages, and all manner of variations. Gah! Although I'm pretty sure there should be a

in the title

Oh well. Time for brain rests now methinks

Again, thank you to everyone for the hints, I would have got nowhere without you guys. And thank you to the team for making such fantastic, if brain-melting, puzzles

Chrmike:
I've decided to throw out one more hint before I go to bed. And to make it lots of fun, it's a limerick!

Good luck to everyone and I hope you find this at least entertaining. :)

Mod Note - I approve of this method of clue giving :P

You shouldn't. I just gained +4 intelligence and +3 charisma without even looking closely at the picture.

But I'm incredibly grateful for this event... thank you so much for these incredible puzzles! You guys have done a fantastic job... these are truly some of the best I've ever seen.

Ok, I will be honest. Except for Day 1 Puzzle 1 I NEVER would have gotten ANY of these puzzles without the assistence of the fine (and not so fine) folks of the Escapist Forums. Excepting the EVIL EVIL EVIL mods.

Agreed!

Kudos to all who posted helpful hints.

And Shame on you Escapist for turning the brains of your loyal fans into so much gelatinous goop.

Wow! I made it! Well, thanks to the Escapist Staff for creating what was possibly the coolest ,and most difficult, puzzles ever.
To Landslide and ThyNameIsMud, who created the puzzles and to the Nerd Queen, Susan Arendt, who cheered us on.

And, of course, to my fellow Escapists who helped me along the way. As much as I would like to say I did it on my own thanks to my huge brain, it would be bull.

THANKYOU ESCAPISTS!

Damn. Day five has been as tortuous a puzzle as I think I can take. Today's puzzle has required leaps of logic, keen attention to detail and a little guess-work to find the solution. I would have overlooked a step or two along the path if not for some of the hints provided along the way. I was able to solve many of the puzzles without assistance, but a few, such as today's, required many minds.

Congratulations to the Escapist staff. While many felt that the leap of logic required by the final puzzle was too great, I think the fact that some of us made it goes to show that the puzzle was more insidious than sloppy. Good work.

can some one help?

First of all, many thanks to all for the extremely helpful hints. I would still be stuck on those accursed letter puzzles on days 1 and 2 if not for you.

Well, that was great! I have forgotten how much fun it is to solve clever puzzles, since there are so few adventure games nowdays.

Thank you again and efcharisto!

5-1 totally just got that with my second random guess

I've given myself a migraine trying to solve this one but I got there in the end, possibly through completely wrong reasoning but still somehow arriving at the right solution. Thanks chaps and chapesses for a right good brain breaking!

Wow, Day 5 really does hit like a sack full of bricks once you think about it the right way.

That was a good one. Thank you for the hints on the

The last part had me stuck for quite a while, though I figured who the guys were (thanks to a couple of movies). I looked for hints here, but still couldn't get the game.
and my first thought when I figured it out was "You have got to be kidding me". I had actually forgotten that game. And now I gots me a badge.
Pitty I couldn't join in the solving while you were in the heat of it, but I needed my sleep.
So thank you all and thank you, Escapist people. Indeed, bring out the next puzzle.

What a week! :)

We need more events like this in the future :D

That's it, I give up. This puzzle is too motherblowing hard for me. I can't for the love of God figure out the solution to this or the ones for yesterday.

I'm not sure why, but I was expecting the answer to day 5 to turn up from day 1.

[Double Post]

I'm still stuck way back on the review on Amazon. I just don't know where to go from there.

tautologico:

Captain-Giggles:
I got it, and the connection is kind of there, but well done to all who've gotten it so far and to the rest keep at it! Of course, obligitory hint:
snip

Oh god that was it. I can't believe it. One of my favorite games, no less. Brain addled by too much sleepyness. Thank you, and good night.

This post is what made me figure out what game it was.

Wow, one of the hints helped me FINALLY get the answer. But I still can't see how I was supposed to make that last jump without one. There were so many other things that tie in better. And I still can't get the other page to load even having gotten the right answer. >.>

As far as that goes my favorite game would have matched its actual game title better to the final solution.

*bangs head against wall*

4.1 , 4.2 and THIS ROTTEN ONE are driving me crazy!

Ok, I think I understand a part of 5-1
...

But I have a hard time understanding what some of the pictures are aiming towards.

Edit: Also, who's the actor?

Aww man, wish I could have been here when the hardcore were going throught the puzzle. damn the different time zones. Got all the way to throught the hole (hope that's ok) but now I'm stuck.

Still can't get 4-1 either.

Yomandude:
Screw what I said about not posting. Here's the things I know:

Illuminate me on the ?s, please.

Seriously what's with the ? after the stop sign? That's Trent Reznor from NINE inch nails.
...
-Tabs<3-
the octopus would be 8 I imagine?

havass:
I don't feel guilty about adding all the hints up to solve the puzzle now, because i've never played that game before. Maybe I should go get it now.
And I find it amusing how I've tried entering this game multiple times for yesterday's puzzle. Oh well. Now that's over...I have to start closing all the various tabs that were required for this ONE puzzle.

Hint:

I love you so much right now x.x I spent two hours...TWO NARFING HOURS trying to figure out what the last clue meant, but this...this finally made it click in my head.

Oh and, side note: My brain is now made of porridge. Kthnxbai. Now, I'm going to go to bed. Wake me up when the world stops being all blurry and painful to look at.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

GOT 5 FROM CLUES IN FORUM AND RANDOM SEARCHING.

SO CRUEL.....and I still have two more :(

Yomandude:
EDIT: Lemme try that again:
I'm listing the guys again, revised.
